Chapter 46 - Chapter 36 – “Retirement Is a Lie, Takeouts Are Real”

Part 1: Food Is the True Business

Han Yue accepted her fate with a deep breath…

And a smile on her face.

Last night, right before bed, she had curled up under the covers and opened her phone, determined to research the popular foods, snacks, and takeout from the small island countries she was scheduled to visit this week.

What started as a quick glance became an all-out binge session of food blogs, street food vlogs, and local culinary forums.

By midnight, she was hugging her pillow and whispering,

"Oh my god… look at that coconut cream bun… and the grilled skewers… and that thick mango curry…"

Then came the snacks. Flavored ramens. Spicy dried fish chips. Juicy fruit jellies in squeeze pouches. Handmade candy rolled in banana leaves.

By the time she finally turned off her screen, her eyes sparkled with purpose.

This wasn't a business trip.

This was a food pilgrimage.

The next morning, Han Yue floated downstairs in unusually high spirits, her steps light, her expression serene and victorious—as if she had achieved enlightenment through noodles.

The Long family was already seated for breakfast. Steamed dumplings, soy milk, and savory pancakes filled the table.

"Good morning!" Han Yue chirped, plopping down next to Little Zhihan and pouring herself a warm drink.

Grandpa Long raised an eyebrow.

Colonel Long paused mid-sip of his tea.

Both exchanged a silent look.

She was glowing.

Radiating happiness.

After a few bites, Han Yue wiped her mouth and casually announced,

"I'll be leaving for a business trip today. I'll be flying around some small island countries for work this week. Don't miss me too much, alright?"

She gave them a meaningful look. Very professional. Totally serious.

Grandpa Long's mouth twitched.

Colonel Long looked down, letting out a subtle cough to hide his smile.

"Business trip, huh? Hah. She's practically vibrating with excitement," both thought at the same time. "This girl's just chasing snacks across borders."

But of course, they didn't say a word.

From the side, Long Yi, ever composed and supportive, smiled gently and replied,

"Alright then. Work hard, and enjoy your trip."

Han Yue nodded with fake solemnity, but in her heart, she was already halfway to Mango Country, standing in line for skewers and bubble tea.

Part 2: Snacks, Schedules, and a Salute

After breakfast, Han Yue picked up her little handbag, flung her coat stylishly over her shoulder, and turned toward the door.

But before she left, she crouched in front of Little Zhihan, who was still munching on a bun.

She gave him a solemn look.

"I'm leaving home in your care," she said seriously. "Your mission this week is to take care of the little babies—the dog, the two cats, and the baby bunny. Make sure they're all fed, bathed, and cuddled every day. Can I count on you?"

Little Zhihan instantly perked up, dropping his bun and standing up straight.

He raised one tiny hand in a perfect salute.

"Sir! Yes, sir!!"

Han Yue saluted back with a grin and ruffled his hair. "Good soldier."

Then with a wave to the Long family, she stepped outside—her ride already waiting.

Assistant Chen was standing beside the car, holding the door open as always, calm and reliable. Han Yue slid into the seat, still humming happily to herself. Their first stop: the warehouses, where she had one final round of tasks to handle.

The vehicle headed straight to the compound where her rented farming and construction machines had been working nonstop for the past few weeks. With everything in her space now complete, it was time to return the heavy equipment to their original rental companies.

Assistant Chen handled the paperwork swiftly while Han Yue supervised the transfer—tractors, diggers, tillers, transport vehicles—all rolled back into her personal warehouse. It was almost nostalgic watching them go.

Then came the second phase.

Her phone buzzed. Secretary Wen.

"Miss Han," his voice came smoothly through the speaker, "I've coordinated the release of your temporary workers. Assistant Chen and Assistant Liu will drive you to the drop-off location now."

Han Yue nodded and looked out the window. The car was already headed toward the remote area, a quiet, forested zone with no surveillance and no passersby.

There, her space workers—the dozens of temporary laborers hired for farming, building, and setup—were quietly led out, still blindfolded, and released one by one. Each had their memory lightly modified and pockets padded with generous compensation.

Han Yue stood nearby, watching in silence, her thoughts complicated but calm.

When the last van drove away, Secretary Wen's voice came through again.

"Now that that's done," he said, "you don't need to worry about anything else. Just get on the private jet with Assistant Chen and Assistant Liu. They have your complete schedule and will accompany you through the entire route."

He continued briskly:

"I've taken into account your... unique shopping style—specifically your tendency to buy out entire cities."

Han Yue blinked.

"I've pre-ordered everything: takeouts, snacks, delicacies, raw materials, medicines, even seasonal goods. I bought from factories, wholesale markets, local mom-and-pop stores, and of course, bankrupt inventories and expiring stockpiles. Everything is waiting in the designated warehouses, timed perfectly with your arrival windows."

"You'll just go in, collect the goods, exit, and fly to the next country. Smooth. Precise. Weekly schedule is set."

"Oh, and regarding the volcano—our people have already secured the area, placed jammers, and brought in containment equipment. If you choose to collect it, everything is ready."

Han Yue listened, mouth agape, eyes sparkling like a child about to enter the world's biggest candy store.

Then she nodded furiously, her head bobbing like a pecking chicken.

"WOW! Secretary Wen, you're amazing!" she gasped.

She genuinely felt touched—no, deeply moved—by his mind-reading precision. The snacks, the volcano, the schedule... even her chaotic collecting style had been accounted for.

He really knew her heart!

With a heart full of joy and a suitcase about to burst from snacks yet to be collected, Han Yue boarded the jet—ready to conquer the world, one local delicacy at a time.

Part 3: Snacks in the Sky and Lotto Payouts

Inside the private jet bound for Mango Country, the mood was almost festive.

Han Yue lounged comfortably in her leather seat, sipping a fruity iced drink with a bendy straw shaped like a heart. Her eyes sparkled, her cheeks were rosy, and her legs were kicked up as she scrolled through endless photos of regional delicacies.

Across from her, Assistant Chen was calmly reviewing a stack of import permits, while Assistant Liu typed frantically on his tablet, organizing transport logistics for five different countries.

Han Yue looked at them fondly.

Then she sighed dramatically and said,

"Sigh… our retirement life has come to an end."

She glanced at both of them with a somewhat sad and reluctant expression, as if they were all war veterans returning to the battlefield after years of peaceful fishing.

The jet was silent for a second.

Then—

Chen and Liu both twitched their mouths.

Internally, they screamed:

"Retirement life?! We've been working 24/7 nonstop for you! Barely four hours of sleep a day! You've had foot baths, movie nights, hot cocoa in your pajamas—and we were carrying warehouse crates!!"

But of course, on the outside, they smiled politely.

"...Yes, Miss Han," Assistant Chen said stiffly.

"Indeed," Assistant Liu agreed through gritted teeth.

Han Yue giggled and tossed them a snack bag each.

After a few minutes of lighthearted teasing, Han Yue pulled out her phone to check her notifications.

A single WeChat friend request popped up.

Xu Mo, Long Yi's secretary.

She raised a brow but tapped Accept.

Not even five seconds later, a message popped up:

Xu Mo: "I will send you 300M."

Han Yue choked on her drink.

She coughed once, then quickly typed back:

Han Yue: "No need! I'm not poor!"

(Pretending very hard like she hadn't casually whined to Long Yi about wanting a piece of that lottery prize.)

A second later:

Xu Mo: "Ok :)"

Han Yue stared at her screen, stunned.

"W-wait. That's it?! I can't even pretend to be stubborn properly???"

She stared blankly for two more seconds.

Then, in her panic, she sent a sad emoji to Long Yi.

It took only a few minutes before another message popped up.

Xu Mo:

"Please don't send sad emojis to the Young Master… he's looking at me with a little glare now. I'm scared."

"I'll send you half. 150 million. Is that okay?"

Han Yue's frown flipped instantly into a big grin.

Han Yue: "Okay send it now :D"

And after receiving the transfer, she sweetly sent a single emoji to Long Yi:

😊

She leaned back against her seat, satisfied beyond words.

Between snacks, money, and volcano collecting... life was good.
