Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Oldest Book

Chapter 3: The Oldest Book

In the testing grounds, Seraph reached out to test again. The golden light shone like a normal child.

"Passed, next one."

Seraph passed the test and stood beside Seria. Seria tried to console Seraph, but didn't know what to do.

"It's okay, big bro. I'll protect you, I promise."

As time passed, each child failed, leaving thirty children. An old woman stood in front of them.

"Well, tomorrow you're all here. We'll give you a first-class magical item. It's yours to choose. So, congratulations on passing. Do you have any questions?"

Time passed like a graveyard without a bird singing. The old woman, not knowing what to say, told him to leave.

Seraph took Seria's hand and walked away. Barrier stood beside Seraph.

"Please take care of me from now on, Seraph. I'll ask about art again, so I'll be in your care." I have to go now. Good luck!

Baria hurried away from Seraph. Seraph looked at the single red line of luck on Barrier's back. [This child seems unlucky.]

They arrived and saw their father waiting in the carriage. When Somen saw him, he hurried over to them.

"How's the result?"

Seria held up two fingers, indicating peace of mind. "Ha ha, who do you think I am? You'll definitely pass."

Somen hugged Seria affectionately like his own son. "Excellent, my dear. What about Seraph's daughter?" Seraph nodded. "Yes, I do."

Somen, Seraph's son, was overjoyed. "Is that so? Well then, we'll go shopping. We're having a party today."

Seraph and Seria, along with Somen, browsed through the stalls.

People were packed together, and a man was selling things in the aisle.

His purple hair reached his shoulders. He looked about sixty years old. A multitude of items were scattered across the floor.

These items were filthy and scattered like trash. Passersby simply walked by without a care.

As the three walked, Seraph noticed a golden line coming from the old man's belongings.

Seraph went to examine the items, trying to find the source of the lucky line. The purple-haired old man saw a child interested in his own things and smiled kindly.

"Choose one, little girl. These are souvenirs, so which one do you like? I'll give you a discount."

Seraph walked over and looked at an item that looked like a book. It was old and dark, like something left over from years of use. A voice came from behind Seraph.

"What? I thought you were gone. You're interested here, aren't you? What's wrong, big sister?"

It was Seria's voice, looking at Seraph's expression of interest. Seraph looked at the black book with a golden line extending from it, touching the center of Seria's forehead. [It seems like this book will bring good fortune to Seria.] Seraph pointed at the old black book. "How much is this?"

The purple-haired old man looked at the book.

"Hmm, hmm. It usually sells for five gold coins, but let's just lower it to one gold coin."

"It's so expensive for such an old book. Why is it so expensive? If you buy it, I bet your father will be angry."

Seraph took out a gold coin. "Here, one."

Seria looked puzzled. "Huh... Are you really buying it? What are you thinking?"

Seraph took the book and walked away. Seria followed Seraph, watching the old seller smile happily at the money.

Seraph walked up to Somen, who was choosing items. Seraph handed Seria a dirty black book.

"Here, a gift from my sister." Seria was stunned, not expecting her sister to give her such a dirty gift as a book.

Seraph had no idea about beauty.

Seria accepted it with some skepticism, but whatever. "Well, I'm not good at choosing a gift, but I'll accept it."

"Do whatever you want with this book."

Seria hugged the book with a smile. After selecting the items, Somen stood up and looked at Seria.

Somen began to wonder, "Is this my daughter's idea strange? Never mind."

"Alright, I got everything as promised. Is there anything else you want?" Seria raised her hand.

"That's right. I want to buy it..."

"Sure, choose. I'll buy it for you. What do you want?" The three of them went to buy some things.

Outside the village, a group of people dressed in black were hiding, all dressed in black. A man asked the man in black.

"What about Agen? It's been so long. Why haven't we seen that carriage yet?"

"Yes," the newly arrived source said. It seems that this Agen was involved in an accident where the carriage malfunctioned and needs to be repaired.

Man in black 1 had a displeased expression. "What did you say? We don't have much time. The employer hired him in a hurry, you know?" A voice came from behind the man in black.

"What's going on? They're here to kill people! I wonder who's waiting in front of Gollen Village. It's bandits trying to rob them. They're not doing their job, are they?"

Man in black 1 jumped away hurriedly. "Who the hell are you!?"

Five men in black jumped away. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The first man in black saw the face of a stranger.

It was a man in black with short black hair, a second-level cultivator, around twenty years old. His name was Agafé.

"It seems you arrived just in time. If my grandfather had arrived here first, I would have held a grudge for not arriving in time."

The man in black showed an extremely irritated and angry expression.

"The whole plan failed because of Agafé's late arrival. Consider yourself lucky."

Agafé smiled, murderous intent surging out. Whoosh!!!

"You're not going to die."

Agafé used his first spell, {Wind Sword], and Agafé drew his sword, a glowing green blade like a magical sword covering the blade Agafé drew.

"Be careful! Who sent you?" "

[Save it! If Grandpa Agen, who's coming to watch the second-level magical item competition, is coming now, he'll probably be killed by these guys.]

Ack! He ran towards him. Boom!! Whoosh!! Ack! He ran up to stand in front of the man in black and swung his sword at the man in black's head. Whoosh!!

The man in black swung his sword and clashed with the magic sword. Ack! Whoosh!! Boom!! The magic sword slashed the man in black in half. Red blood gushed out like a waterfall, organs, and red blood flowed endlessly.

"Let's get bloody with our bloodlust."

Ack! He chased the man in black, trying to kill them all. Boom!! Whoosh!! To one side, Seraph was riding in a carriage, looking at Agen, who was waiting for the people he hired to repair the horse's wheels. Agen was standing guard. Seraph saw that Agen's red line had completely disappeared, leaving only gold. [This old man seems to be starving. What's going on? What else does the 100% luck system mean? Besides the luck number, he doesn't know anything about the word 100%.]
