Chapter 130 - THE HEIRS OF GODS

POV: Eugene

The silence that followed the machines stopping seemed more disturbing to me than the alarms that had sounded a few moments before.

I was still lying on the transfer bed, my wrists and ankles held by straps that I had not yet been able to identify.

The lights in the corridor flickered intermittently, casting shadows on the walls that disappeared each time the power seemed to come back on, before leaving me again in almost complete darkness.

– Hey!

My voice was lost in the corridor.

I turned my head toward the two robots that had escorted me this far. Their white silhouettes stood out near the door, their smooth masks facing me. Since the beginning of my transfer, they hadn't answered any of my questions except with mechanical instructions. I had grown accustomed to their indifference, but this time, something was wrong.

No movement. No noise coming from their internal mechanisms. Even the small lights at the base of their masks had gone out.

Are you kidding me?

I pulled on the restraints, first cautiously, then with increasing force. The pain shot up my arms, reminding me that my body had not yet recovered from the sedation.

My mouth was dry, my head felt heavy, and I had this unpleasant sensation of not being entirely in control of my movements.

But I had no intention of lying there waiting for a machine to decide to set me free.

I pulled my wrists towards me and forcedon the ties. The first one resisted long enough to make my teeth grind. I changed position, braced my arm against the metal edge of the bed, and pulled again, until I felt the fastener give way abruptly. My wrist slammed against the frame with a sharp crack.

- Finally !

I easily freed my other hand, then attacked the restraints on my legs. They were harder to reach, but I eventually tore them off one after the other. When I tried to stand up, the blood rushed to my head.

– hhum

I grabbed onto one of his masks in time and let myself slide down the glass

my fingers clenched on my chest, before I regained enough balance and breath to sit down.

I went downstairs carefully.

My legs were still trembling, but they were supporting my weight. That was something, at least.

The walkway was deserted. Beyond the glass bay, the lights of the central dome drew pale lines on the suspended structures, and I could still make out silhouettes stopped at different stages who seemed to be watching us.

– TO BE "PURE" AND WITHOUT EMOTIONS

I approached the door and placed my hand on the control panel.

Nothing.

I started again, pressing harder, then striking the device with the flat of my hand.

– Open up!

The panel remained black.

I turned towards the robots and kicked one of them. Their immobility gave me the absurd impression of being observed by two statues, whereas a few minutes earlier, they had shown themselves perfectly capable of bringing me here without worrying about my condition.

I went back to the bay window and banged on it with my fist in an attempt to attract the attention of the perfect beings.

- I am here ?!

My voice echoed in the corridor without eliciting the slightest reaction.

I struck a second time, harder, then a third time, until a dull ache spread through my fingers.

– Ouch

I could have gone on for a long time. The glass, however, didn't seem inclined to give way.

I feel like I've become stupid; I know that with so little, nothing is likely to happen.

– ppfffff~

A long sigh

I closed my eyes and tried to focus on that familiar sensation that preceded the activation of my emotion.

I am in the most suitable state. I feel it rising, I am so sad…

I reached my hand towards the window.

– Come on… come here.

A slight vibration ran through my fingers.

I held my breath and concentrated harder, trying to gather that energy in the palm of my hand.

responds to my call.

A pressure formed in my arm, traveled up to my shoulder and concentrated around my hand.

Then my wrist pivoted.

Open your eyes.

I looked down, convinced I had misjudged my own movement, and tried to straighten my arm. My muscles tensed, but my hand continued to move in a direction I hadn't intended.

- What is…

She presses herself against the window

- stop

The desire to close my fingers was only a thought because they half-clenched before becoming still, as if an invisible obstacle stood between my will and my body.

I forced it again.

– HHA AAAAA

My body twists my wrist.

This wasn't the first time I'd struggled to use my emotions after a distressing event. However, this feeling was nothing like the usual exhaustion. I felt my power being drained away.

He did not obey me.

Her eyes began to redden and large beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, her chest rose and fell twice as fast and her lips muttered to themselves.

I don't want to become a monster

Tears mingled with sweat, and his ragged breaths only weakened him further; his lips were simply turning blue.

– fffff, breathe, breathe

CRACK !

– HAAAAAAA

A new pressure shot through his arm, so sudden that he had to lean me against the window to keep from losing his balance.

His wrist is definitely broken.

But what seemed to be pulling his arm outwards doubled in intensity.

– It is my power… obey me!

The sentence escaped me before I could even think about what it implied.

MyMy emotion was being drawn elsewhere, and every attempt to bring it back to me only increased the tension.

I focused all my attention on my hand.

And he took a deep breath.

– hHumm…. Sniff…. Hummmmmm

He frantically cleaned his face with his other hand.

I only wanted it to come together into a blade.

Instead, it swelled up around my arm.

The light spread to my elbow, then enveloped part of my forearm. My heart raced as a sensation of heat rose through my veins. I tried to dissipate the energy, to relax my focus, but it continued to grow.

– Stop…not a transemotional

Why couldn't I control you anymore?

– YOU ARE MINE
