Chapter 291 - Harsh Training Begins

Huang Jinghe walked at the front. When they were almost at the assembly area, another door blocked the way.

Huang Jinghe scanned his residence ID and went through. They quickly followed behind.

As the four of them appeared, all eyes turned toward them.

No surprise, the four were famous. Their abilities were strong, and they had solved many problems for the base. But in special training, abilities couldn't be used. Training focused on physical skills. No matter how strong your ability, without it, who is stronger wasn't certain.

Here, everyone felt the starting line was the same.

Thinking this way, people felt a strange sense of excitement.

The training room was crowded. With many people, familiar faces were easy to spot.

For example, Lan Qiaoqiao often visited the psychologist, Zhou Zhiya. Lan Jin wasn't far away, and since Lan Qiaoqiao liked him, Lan Jin naturally greeted him. Unexpectedly, while Zhou Zhiya returned the greeting, another person nearby immediately caught their attention.

That person was none other than Ling Jiang's cheating ex-boyfriend, Lao Shi from J city base. Lao Gao had heard J city base would send people, but with the base so large, anyone could come. Why did it have to be Lao Shi?

Lao Gao said with disbelief, "So is he a trainer or a trainee this time?"

"Who cares? Let's just pretend we don't know him."

Though Ling Jiang thought that way, Lao Shi clearly did not. Seeing Ling Jiang, he turned and walked over.

Lao Shi's expression was a mix of surprise and delight. He looked at Ling Jiang and asked, "Didn't expect you're still at H city base. Didn't expect you'd join this special training."

Ling Jiang's relationship with Lao Shi was their own business. Others had no right to interfere. But Lao Shi had helped her with Lan Qiaoqiao's name change, so Lan Jin felt it polite to greet him. She found a moment and said lightly, "Officer Shi, long time no see."

Huang Jinghe had no connection to Lao Shi, so he simply gave a light greeting, "Yes, Officer Shi, long time no see."

Lao Shi looked at them, surprised they were still together after so long. Out of courtesy, he replied, "Long time no see."

At this time, seeing them talking, Zhou Zhiya walked over and asked, "You know each other?"

Lao Shi quickly explained, "This is Zhou Zhiya, psychologist at H city base. We met in college."

Not classmates, but in the same club. Both loved basketball, so they got along well.

But introducing them to the others was difficult, especially because of Ling Jiang's identity. Lao Shi didn't know how to explain.

Lao Gao had grown up with Ling Jiang. They had survived life and death together. Naturally, he was protective. He looked at Lao Shi with disdain, asking, "What, is it hard to say she's your ex? Or hard to admit you cheated?"

Lao Shi frowned, surprised Lao Gao said it publicly. But indeed, he was at fault. "This is my fault. I can make it up…"

Ling Jiang said, "Do I need you to make it up?"

With that, Ling Jiang turned and walked away. The others naturally followed her. Ling Jiang turned her back, and Lao Shi couldn't approach. His gaze, however, stayed fixed on her. By 8:50, three trainers appeared together.

Among the three trainers, the most surprising was that Brother Zhang was the chief trainer. Indeed, he seemed to handle everything at the base. How he managed so much without being overwhelmed was beyond them.

But this was not her concern.

The three trainers were all tall, around 180 cm or more, with serious expressions. Removing their thick jackets revealed strong muscles. Standing before the trainees, they looked like a striking sight.

Most trainees were male. The female trainees, sensing the trainers' cLao aura, didn't dare approach, even if they wanted to.

Although special training was new to everyone, most had military training before. The trainers' arrival prompted them to line up instinctively.

The lines were neat, but heights weren't arranged. Tall and short trainees were mixed, making it hard for trainers to manage.

Brother Zhang stepped forward, looked at the formation, and shouted, "Two minutes. Girls in front, boys in back, arrange by height. Start."

At the whistle, the line quickly scattered. Teams didn't care about separation. Ling Jiang grabbed her and rushed to the front row.

With Ling Jiang's height, she should have been first in line. Yet two taller girls stood to her right.

Ling Jiang had to shift left.

Two minutes wasn't enough to line up hundreds of people. It seemed only a start, because punishment came immediately.

Brother Zhang scolded, "Time's up. Look at this formation. Can't even line up properly. How can you join training? Everyone, five laps around the indoor field."

Another whistle blew. Those from the base ran without hesitation. Those unfamiliar with the base didn't know what to do and watched others for guidance. Not fully lined up, punishment couldn't be avoided. Ling Jiang and she hesitated slightly, then ran.

Seeing them move, Lao Gao and Huang Jinghe also left the crowd.

She had a small trick. When running out, she placed her water bottle at the field edge. If she got tired, she could drink spirit spring water to recover. Ling Jiang and others copied her.

Lan Jin knew B2 floor was huge. How huge?

A school field was 400 meters per lap. This one was more than double, 1000 meters per lap. Five laps meant 5000 meters. They weren't punished for lining up badly—it was really a test of stamina.
