"What's going on here?"
More than a dozen figures streaked across the desolate lunar sky and dropped into the ruined courtyard. Blood stained the white stone crimson, and the mangled bodies of Ōtsutsuki warriors lay everywhere, their faces frozen in terror.
"Why are so many of our clansmen dead?"
"Who did this?"
Their furious cries echoed against the crater walls—until every eye locked onto the lone stranger floating above the carnage.
"You slaughtered our Ōtsutsuki?"
The speaker, a tall man in a blue robe with flowing white hair, radiated power that edged into the Super-Kage realm, yet Kagami met the glare without blinking.
"Yes," he answered, voice flat. "I did."
"Then prepare to die!"
The newcomers surged forward. Kagami's mouth curved in a thin, dismissive smile. A grid-shaped slash of compressed space flashed from his fingers. Air shrieked; the moon's surface cracked.
Screams tore the stillness. Bodies burst into red vapor, their attacks erased before they truly began. Shockwaves demolished the marble pavilions below, reducing the lunar stronghold to rubble.
Only one Ōtsutsuki remained, unconscious amid the dust. Kagami had spared him for information.
He landed beside the survivor, pressed a palm to the man's forehead, and rifled through memories. A vast cavern, a jade palace, an altar—there lay the colossal Tenseigan.
"So that's where you're hiding." With a flex of his hand he crushed the captive's skull.
Kagami traced a silver blur across the landscape and reached the cavern mouth. Inside, a cathedral of pale stone cradled the giant eye, its turquoise glow pulsing like a heartbeat.
Just approaching it, he felt his chakra siphoned away. Ah yes—the Tenseigan's automatic drain. He sealed his pores and compressed his chakra into his dantian; the pull vanished. Stepping onto the altar, he laid a hand on the crystalline surface.
The moon quaked. Blinding light speared from the eye and hurled him backward. Even so, his enhanced body shrugged off the blast.
Someone had fired that beam deliberately.
Observation Haki flared; a small figure trembled behind the monument—a pale boy with empty sockets. Toneri Ōtsutsuki.
A single step put Kagami before him; a single hand wrapped around the child's throat.
"You thought you'd ambush me? Bold—yet foolish."
