Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : THE CABIN

The forest swallowed the moonlight leaving only silvers through the pines.

I tugged my hoodie tighter, the damp cold seeping into my bones as Ethen walked ahead, his flashlight brightening up the pathway ahead filled with old dead trees with their roots sticking out.

"This is it caleb" he said, his voice filled with excitement....well its not the first time we did this..."ahh" I sighed, remembering what happened the last time we did something like this...i keep getting dragged into sh*t like this whenever he's bored alone at home, "he needs a girl" i thought to myself. I turned to him and saw him looking at an old cabin in the distance "The witch's hollow. Bet we find her old bones tonight "

I snorted, but my eyes flicked to shadows surrounding the old cabin.

"You and your ghost hunts. Last time, we just found raccoons ". i said it, trying to stop him from doing this, not that am scared or anything....Why me!!!!!.

Ethan's obsession with the Cloverton's legends ( he picked the creepiest place to start) was why we were out here, miles from any town, chasing a story about a woman who vanished a century ago....

"-"

I personally feel we shouldn't be here...people swore they heard her screams every night while passing the town.

"Raccoons don't hum" he shot back, grinning... Obviously enjoying the nervous look my face. He stopped, cocking his head." Listen".

Ethan's grin faded. His flashlight caught something : a circle of stones, half-buried, their edges carved with jagged symbols. In the center, the dirt looked freshly turned.

"Caleb" ethan whispered, " that wasnt here last time we came here right??...

We are fucked.....that's what crossed my mind as a hum became a voice

The voice wasn't human. It slithered through the air, a hoarse whisper that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere, curling around my spine like frost.

I couldn't make out words, but it felt like it knew my name.

My breath hitched, clouding in front of me as the temperature plummeted.

Ethan's flashlight trembled, its beam locked on the churned dirt in the stone circle. "Caleb you hearing this?" His voice cracked, all bravado gone. For once, he wasn't charging in...i honestly felt like teasing him...but not in these circumstances.
