MEREDITH
The moment I stepped out of his office, I felt the cold breeze hit my pale body, and I gave out a satisfying sigh. My mind was still processing what had just happened.
"Did I just get offered a form to apply to one of the best universities out there, and I rejected it?" I whispered to myself, not seeing the person coming towards me as I crashed against something that felt like a wall. I groaned as I rubbed my chest slowly, trying to soothe the pain where my body got hit, and then I looked up. Standing right before me was the almighty 'Dracula'—that was a nickname that we gave him in school. He had a tall form, quite muscular, but with a big head, which kind of irritated him even more.
"Why don't you watch where you're going, huh, Merri?" he said, his eyes not leaving my chest. A little growl escaped from my lips as I looked at the direction of his eyes. He was much taller than me, and I stood before him like a rat standing before a cat.
"You are a pervert, do you know that?" I responded, ignoring his previous words, and I heard him chuckle. Then, he pushed his head down, his face a few inches apart from mine as I watched his eyes trail down to stare at my lips, then at my chest where my hands had been, soothing. A light chuckle left his lips.
"And don't you like it, my sweet Merri woman?" he whispered, his words barely above my lips, as I felt a huge amount of spit hung up in my throat, which I swallowed in a huge gulp.
"Fuck off," I whispered, my words shocking him, as I pushed a distance between us. I saw surprise flash on his face, and then he smiled.
"If you do not back off from my man, I swear to God, I will kill you, bitch!" a voice shrieked a few feet away from us. My eyes quickly pulled up to stare at the person in front of me. I rolled my eyes when I saw Lois and her two minions strutting towards us. Her hands were clenched into fists as she stopped in front of me, quickly pulling Luke behind her.
I looked up to glare at Luke, whose expression had instantly become innocent and amused, like he wasn't the one who had tried to grope me this very moment.
"How dare you try to kiss my man! You think I didn't see you, putting all your stinking hands around him? Huh, you want him, huh?" Her voice sounded repulsive, and I felt like shutting my ears with my hands and leaving at that moment.
"Like I would be interested in someone like Luke. You always know he's not my type," I snarled back. I wasn't going to allow this bitch to speak to me anyhow.
"Oh really? It's all over the school news, the teachers... you tried blowing off Mr. Nick's steam because you failed your test, but what did he do? Exposed your little dirty secret, bitch. You seem to follow in your mother's footsteps, huh? Sleeping around with men that aren't yours, and now, you want to snatch my dear Luke from me." She said this while laughing sarcastically as her friends joined her in laughing. At that moment, I felt like punching her again.
"Excuse me..." I said, about to leave the scene before everyone gathered and knew about whatever had transpired between I and Mr. Nick.
"No, bitch. You aren't going anywhere. We aren't done with our discussion," she screamed this time. Her hands came, landing on mine as she dragged me back so roughly that I landed my butt on the hard ground.
My eyes flared with anger as the pain of the hard concrete ground squashed against my ass, and that was all it took for me to stand up quickly. Not caring if she had three other brats with her, and knowing she wasn't expecting this, I flung my bag against her face, causing her to scream with terror as I ensured the bag had smacked her nose and left a bruise.
Her friends, as expected, tried to attack me, but I was quick enough to jab them in their stomachs, sending them flying to the ground. They were little pests, which I could easily handle, but today was my birthday, and I was trying to avoid every form of violence. But they made me break that—I may as well make them bleed.
I heard a chuckle coming from a few feet away from us, and when I looked up, I saw Luke smiling down at me, his eyes sparkling with a little hint of maybe... surprise?
"Fuck you," I said, grabbing my bag and instantly leaving the little brats, not failing to hear mounds of curses coming behind me from Lois and her minions.
Her words kept vibrating through my head. How had they known about me and Mr. Nick's ordeal? Mr. Nick had promised me he would never tell anyone what had happened—how I had failed at my attempt at seducing him. My mother had somehow manipulated me into seducing Mr. Nick because I had failed my Mental Strength subject test. Fuck, I should have known that he wouldn't keep it a secret. He did want to jeopardize my name just like everyone else.
After what seemed like ages, I reached my home, the place where I had grown up and where the war had left its abyss. Scattered around were huge containers, their paint already peeling off and their bodies rusted from rain and the harsh weather.
I walked towards one of the containers—it was my home. I'd be proud to call it my apartment, but it was far from being an apartment. But yet, it was home.
I took in a deep breath, hoping for many reasons my mother wasn't around. Slowly, I opened the door, finding the parlor empty, which for some reason I found good. My mother had ensured that even if we lived in a container, our space should at least serve different purposes, so there was a parlor that had three cushions and a center table with some old curtains and ridiculous paintings hanging around the wall.
I gave out a little sigh, happy she wasn't around. Slowly, I walked to the bedroom, and the moment I pushed the door adjoining our single bedroom, which I shared with my mother, who was barely around, I heard sounds of moans coming out from the room.
"Ooh my god... Mr. Principal... ooh yes yes yes..."
My hands froze at the sight in front of me. My mouth widened in shock as I dropped my bag lid down from my hand with a heavy thud.
