The excitement of the School Festival and the adrenaline of the License Exam had faded, replaced by the steady, grinding rhythm of academic life. But the atmosphere in Class 1-A was shifting again. The seasons were turning, the air getting crisper, and with it came a new mandate from the school administration.

Shota Aizawa stood at the podium, his eyes scanning the class with his usual lethargic intensity.

"Now that you have your provisional licenses," he began, "we are moving to the next phase of your hero education. Hero Work Studies."

He tapped a stack of papers on his desk. "Unlike the week-long internships you did previously, these are more akin to real employment. You will be working alongside pro heroes, on the streets, dealing with real crimes and real investigations. This is not a field trip. This is the job."

The class exchanged glances, and a mix of excitement and nervousness spread across the classroom. They had all seen "the job" up close at the training camp, and the scars, both physical and mental, were still fresh.

"This is optional," Aizawa continued. "We are not forcing you into the field. But given the current state of society… the retirement of All Might… the rise in organized villainy… we believe it is crucial for those of you who are ready to gain this experience now."

He looked pointedly at the back of the room, where the "Big 4" sat.

"You will need to find an agency willing to take you on. Use your connections from the Sports Festival or your previous internships. Dismissed."

The rest of the day was a flurry of networking and frantic phone calls. The hallways buzzed with students discussing their options.

Izuku Midoriya sat at his desk, staring at his notebook. He knew where he wanted to go. He needed to go there. Sir Nighteye. All Might's former sidekick. The man who could see the future. If anyone could help him understand the weight of One For All, it was him.

He had approached All Might earlier, asking for an introduction. The refusal had been painful. All Might, the man who always smiled, had looked away, his face shadowed by regret.. "I cannot face him, Young Midoriya. I have… failed him."

So, Izuku had turned to the only other link: Mirio Togata.

"You want to meet Sir?" Mirio had asked. "He's tough, Midoriya! He's strict! He doesn't like jokes unless they're funny! But… if you're serious… I'll introduce you."

That afternoon, Izuku left the campus, his heart pounding in his chest. He was heading to the Nighteye Agency. There, he was going to prove himself. He was going to show the man who knew All Might best that he was a worthy successor.

The next morning, the atmosphere in the Heights Alliance common room was lighter than it had been in weeks. The "rift" that Bakugo's outburst had created was still there, but the shared pressure of the Work Studies was acting as a kind of glue. They were all heroes-in-training again, facing the same challenges.

"So, how did it go?" Mina Ashido asked, leaning over the back of the couch as Kirishima walked in, looking exhausted but grinning.

"It was awesome!" Kirishima declared, slamming his fist into his palm. "I got in! Fourth Kind was busy, but Amajiki-senpai put in a good word for me with his mentor! I'm going to Fat Gum's agency in Esuha City!"

"Fat Gum?" Kaminari laughed. "The guy who looks like a giant marshmallow?"

"He's a pro's pro!" Kirishima defended. "And Amajiki-senpai says he's insanely strong!"

"I'm going with Ryukyu," Ochaco Uraraka announced, sitting down with a bowl of rice. "Nejire-senpai introduced us. Tsu is coming too!"

"The Dragoon Hero!!" Tsuyu added, placing a finger on her chin. "She's the Number 10 hero now. It's a great opportunity, kero."

"I'm going back to Manual in Hosu," Iida said, pushing up his glasses. "There is still much work to be done in that city to restore order after the... incident." He said it calmly, but everyone noticed the slight flinch at the mention of Hosu. The memory of Stain still sat heavily on Iida's conscience.

Fumikage Tokoyami walked in, looking darker than usual. "I have accepted an offer from Hawks. Again."

"The Number Two?" Sero whistled. "Nice."

Tokoyami sighed. "He is… eclectic. But his speed is undeniable. I must learn to keep up."

The room felt almost normal. They were just students again, comparing notes, excited about their futures.

Then, the elevator dinged.

The conversation lulled as Akaza, Rumi, Shoto, and Bakugo walked out. It was a reflex now, the class quieting down when the "Big 4" entered. But it wasn't the terrified silence of before. It was more… respectful.

Rumi grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and hopped onto the counter, swinging her legs. "What's with the library voices? Someone die?"

"We were just talking about Work Studies, ribbit," Tsuyu said, brave enough to break the ice. "Kirishima is with Fat Gum. Where are you guys going?"

Shoto stopped making his tea and turned. "I'm going to the Endeavor Agency."

The room blinked.

"Your dad?" Midoriya asked, surprised. He remembered the Sports Festival, Shoto's rejection of his father's fire.

"Yes," Shoto said, his voice even. "He is the Number One Hero now. I have… things to learn from him. And things to show him. I'm not going as his son. I'm going as an upcoming hero."

"Hell yeah, you are!" Bakugo barked, snatching a piece of toast. "But don't get too comfortable, Icy-Hot. 'Cause I'm going there too."

"EH?!" The class shouted in unison. "You're going to Endeavor?!"

"Got a problem with that?!" Bakugo snarled. "Best Jeanist is out of commission 'cause of that 'No-eyes' bastard. And if I wanna be the best, I gotta see what the current Number One can do. I'm gonna go there, steal all his techniques, and then beat his ass!"

"You and Shoto… working together under Endeavor…" Kaminari muttered, looking terrified. "That building is going to explode."

"I'm going too," Rumi chirped, taking a loud crunch out of her apple.

"You too, Usagiyama-san?!" Momo asked.

"Yep! I interned with the old flame-beard before. He's a grumpy ass, but he knows how to fight. Besides," she grinned, gesturing to the two boys, "someone has to keep these two from killing each other. Plus, it's the Number One agency. High-level villains. Lots of action. Perfect for me."

The class stared at them. Three of the strongest students, all converging on the top hero agency in the country. It was a powerhouse team that seemed almost unfair.

"That's… amazing," Midoriya said, and he meant it. His jealousy was there, but it was buried under admiration. "You guys are really aiming for the top."

Bakugo just huffed. "Obviously."

Then, all eyes turned to the last member of the group.

Akaza was leaning against the fridge, sipping a glass of water. He had been silent during the whole conversation.

"What about you, Akaza?" Kirishima asked. "With your license… and, well, everything… you could go anywhere. Are you going with them to Endeavor?"

"Or back to Hawks?" Tokoyami asked.

The room went quiet. Everyone was waiting for his answer.

Akaza lowered his glass. His black eyes looked back at them.

"Undecided," he said simply.

"Undecided?" Iida repeated, confused. "But the deadlines are approaching. Surely you have offers?"

"I have offers," Akaza replied, his voice bored. "I'm just weighing my options. I have some… personal matters to attend to first."

It was a lie. Or rather, a half-truth designed to shut down the conversation. He didn't need a Work Study. He didn't need a mentor. He had a mission.

Rumi looked at him, her chewing pausing for a second. She saw the slight tightening of his jaw, the way his eyes darkened just a fraction when he said "personal matters." She knew. She remembered the look on his face when he came back from Nezu's office after the exam. She remembered the name he had whispered in his sleep the night before. Eri.

She knew he wasn't undecided. He was already working. He was going hunting.

"Don't worry about him," Rumi said, jumping down from the counter and wrapping an arm around Akaza's waist, breaking the tension. "He's just picky. Probably waiting for All Might to come out of retirement just to beg him to join."

A few chuckles rippled through the room.

"Yeah," Akaza said, playing along, though he didn't smile. "Something like that."

He gently disengaged from Rumi. "I'm going for a run."

He walked out of the common room, the heavy doors sliding shut behind him.

As he stepped out into the cool morning air, the facade dropped. The boredom vanished from his face, replaced by a cold focus. He pulled his phone from his pocket. A secure message from Nezu was waiting.

Target location narrowed. The Hassaikai moved her yesterday. Prepare yourself, Asura.

Akaza stared at the screen, his grip tightening on the phone.

"Undecided," he muttered to himself, a humorless smirk touching his lips.

He wasn't undecided. He was just waiting for the green light to start the hunt.
