Chapter 11 - The First Time Experience

Lira pointed her eyeballs to me first and then pulled them towards the owner. What could she be thinking this time? What could she be scheming? She makes me think about these questions whenever she acts like she is going to pull something off. I hope she is not going to tease me again. I better be prepared in advance and think through if that is going to be the case.

Lira: "I want the same as him, Sir."

The owner shook his head, turning to both of us. It seems like procedural gesture. The waiters back in my previous life used to do similar things too. In the end humans arrive to similar outcomes. At first I thought they might be different from the humans I know, but they are still humans at their core. There are just some differences. That much I could tell. If they were different from me.

Owner: "As you wish ma'am. Is there anything else do you want? Drinks? Snacks etc.?"

Crap! I did not look at the beverages part of the menu. What I am going to do now? Do I just order water? What if they don't sell water? But what if I am missing something great? I hope the situation in this world doesn't cause for an anxiety in the long term.

Owner: "But I must warn both of you first? I can not serve you alcohol since both of you are clearly underage."

Is it that obvious? Maybe it should be since both of us are teenagers. I can't complain about that right now, since I don't know if this body can handle alcohol or not. Trying it here would cause me trouble.

Gilbert: "Okay, sir."

Lira suddenly raised her finger.

Lira: "Let's get black tea young master. They bring their black tea from Arabaya which grows the best tea around the whole Yir. What do you think young master?"

Gilbert: "Okay, why not? If you insist."

Lira: "I assure you, you are going to love this young master."

Phew, it was close. I wonder if the thing she called 'black tea' tastes the same as the ones from my previous life.

Owner held out his hand towards us to grab the menu tablets from us. So Lira and I handed him the ones we held together. After taking the menus, he left to the back room. Probably there was a kitchen in there. I wonder if he was also the one making the dishes. If so the life must have been tough for him, but considering the number of customers present here and now, it might not be that bad. Only the crowdedness stays the same at every hour of the day though.

Gilbert: "Why did you order the same as me? I thought you were going to order something different."

Lira looked at me with confusion. She probably didn't understand where my question was coming from. I asked that on a whim with not much of thought behind it, so I could understand her expression.

Lira: "Why would I young master? I thought I told you that I love the oyster stew they make here. I apologize if I was unclear and brought confusion."

Gilbert: "No,no. You don't need to apologize. I asked the question without a single thought. I was just thinking that you were going to order for something else. It was just my imagination."

Lira : "Okay young master."

I couldn't help but get excited just by imagining how delicious the dish can be. Oyster stew, was it? It had a strange yet flavorous name. I was imagining various shapes about how the plate was going to look like. My mouth could only come up with fish products I tasted in my previous life. Even in the state of my busy mind I couldn't help but notice the grinning face of Lira.

Lira: " You are curious about the dish, aren't you, young master?"

All of a sudden I started to miss the emotionless duty-oriented state of Lira. How did she change all of a sudden was beyond me. Maybe she was hiding all of her emotions behind a door...A door she locked herself behind. I became wanting to know more about her. The reason she couldn't tell anything about her past was related to this too. I turned up to her with a smile.

Gilbert: " Yes, how couldn't I be? It is going to be my first time eating something like this."

She turned her grinning smile into a very genuine one. Her eyes popped up like a little kitten. Her body was signaling excitement as a whole. She was a different kind of breed in that aspect. Being a hybrid human might be the cause too. I still have a lot to learn about.

Lira: " I am sure you are going to love it young master. I think it's the best dish to ever exist in the whole Yir."

She really does get excited whenever she talks about the dish. One could understand that she loves this place just by looking at how she acts like an excited child right now. I am sure this place has a special place in her heart. I want to learn why, but I am afraid of making her upset again if the reason is personal just like the other too. Maybe I should ask about the food instead.

Gilbert: "Well, I want to see if that's true. Why don't you explain the dish to me."

Lira leaned back on the chair, put her hand on the face and went thinking mode for a second. But it did not last for too long.

Lira: "Young Master, I believe you should experience yourself firsthand when it comes. I don't want to impose my thoughts on you accidentally."

She spoke reasonable enough. I couldn't say anything more. Experiencing without expections and knowledge beforehand might leave a strong impression. I believe it's also what she wants from me. She wants me to enjoy and love the just as much as her. It reminds me of the times when I recommend a video game to my friends and expect them to fall just as much as in love as I did with the video game. Honestly how can I blame her. Wanting to being agreed is one of the most fundamental human things after all.

Gilbert: "Okay, Lira. But hearing you say this only makes me curious about the dish more."

She showed a light smile after I finished my words. I hope I can answer your expectations after eating the dish like I am doing as of now.

Lira: "Do not worry young master. Mr. Klerg makes the best of dishes around here. He is the reason I brought you here."

Mr. Klerg? Was she talking about the owner of this shop? He didn't give the impression of the name Klerg though? He look more like a Clington, or maybe it was all my imagination. Anyways. Who could she be talking about?

Gilbert: "Who is Klerg, the owner that just taken our orders?"

My mind could only makes sense of him. As he is the only human that attracts the eyes as the worker in this little restaurant.

Lira: "There is a room at the back of the counter. Do you see that young master?"

I realized that just after entering here. But I couldn't see anyone besides the owner from the window of the door, let alone here. So I thought she was talking about the owner. I turned my eyes to the room to see if I can see anyone besides.

Gilbert: "Yes, I do Lira. Is there someone else in that room?"

Lira seemed so confidant when she was talking about the shop. To the point it seemed like she was nerding out about this shop.

Lira: "Young master, you see? Not many people know of him because he usually stays behind that door and rarely comes out. He is the chef of the restaurant, while Mr. Abigail only makes drinks other than being the both waiter and the owner of the house."

Lira sure comes here a lot. I thought she was always at our house but she has her own free time. Well that's something because she deserves that. I wonder how is the situation with our other maids.

Gilbert: "I see. So his surname was Abigail"

They make an interesting duo indeed. I wonder what wonders they create together. Since the restaurant feels quite niche based on my judgement of observations.

Lira: " But I can't blame you young master. Since not many get the chance to witness him."
