Chapter 1 - Chapter 0 - The Beginning

Nothing.

In the very beginning, there was nothing…

I always thought I would be special like everyone else, but I guess life or whatever you can call it, had other plans.

I mean what do I call myself? What am I? Who am I? Am I dead? Did I have a lover? A family? A… friend? A-am I still… human?

I look around and see absolute nothingness, not bright nor dark, just pure emptiness. They say the eyes is the key to the soul, but what soul can one have if light never entered this world?

How long have I been here? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Decades? Seems like the meaning of time has long been forgotten.

I want to scream. I want to cry. I want to be angry, sad, happy, every emotion you can imagine, but the one thing I feared the most I had was, indifference.

The cruel indifference of the universe seemed to have seeped its essence into me and made it impossible for me to understand an emotion. Damn! Why does this always happen to me!! Wait? How can I know this happened to me if I don't remember anything?"

It was as if fate itself had a disdain for my existence, something enters the void.

What is this feeling? Is this fear? How can I be afraid of something I can't see? Hello?! Is anyone there? Please get me out of here I don't know why I'm here.

Then, the being speaks

"It seems you were brought to this world to observe, and I applaud you for that, but I want to ask you a question, and you don't have to answer, but listen for one second."

The being clears its throat as it begins its speech

"What makes a "person" special? Is it because they're faster than others? Smarter than others? Taller? Stronger? Charismatic? Or is it because they are just simply better…"

The being snaps its fingers as the area around it transforms and distorts to a more sleek and spotless classroom. As it brings out a whiteboard to write down the answer to its own question.

"Ego. The main issue with humanity itself is their egos, and I have never seen any other species in the universe that act this way." The being says in a more snarky and sarcastic tone, as a way to mock humanity as a whole.

"But you knew all this, didn't you? You are a human as well, you have an ego like every human known in history…" It feels as if the being quickly looked at me top to bottom as a way to explain his own thoughts going through its head.

"And yet you don't seem to have an ego… how peculiar…" The being slightly smiles as it folds its arms walking around the classroom as way to see me fully.

An ego? What is it talking about? Thankfully it reassured me that I'm human, but what is this "ego" it keeps bringing up.

The being begins to laugh hysterically, as if you had found the funniest joke in existence, and is listening to it for the first time.

"I'm extremely sorry, but it's just… that you don't have a body at all"

No body? Then what the hell am I?

"Yes… it seems the problem is that you not only don't have a body, but an ego as well."

The being rubs its chin to see what solution there is, and that is when a light bulb brightens in the beings head.

"What if I transport you back to your home world, but into a body that is new?"

New body? Home world? Everything is confusing me, have I gone made? Or have I been mad this whole time…

"Don't worry, I have just the body waiting for you"

The being begins reciting chants that I have never heard of, and maybe never heard it again…

The area around me brightens as my eyes slowly open and see what the being looks like.

A beautiful white dress, and eyes as blue as the marbles being painted onto the ocean. She was stunning, beautiful, and yet was crying.

"I hope to see you again, Rain." she says as she wipes her tears with her pinkish reddish hair.

Rain? Wait, is that you A-

Nothing.

In the end, there was nothing,

As it always should be.
