Chapter 3 - That Day in the Playground

It was exactly a year ago.

That afternoon, Sejal had returned from school and tried to sit down to study.

Her exams were the next day—but her mind was restless, floating elsewhere.

Unable to focus, she grabbed her books and walked over to the neighborhood playground.

Finding a quiet, shaded bench in a far corner, she sat down and began to read.

But then, something caught her eye.

She looked toward the court.

A group of boys were playing basketball, and among them was one boy—

Like a flash of light, he stood out.

Tall. Fair. Handsome.

His eyes… deep and misty, like you could lose yourself in them just by looking.

Sejal stared in surprise.

"Who is that boy? I've never seen him here before! I come to this playground all the time… and yet I've never seen him. He's so tall, handsome, and those eyes... I'm literally drowning in them..."

Just then, the boy looked directly at her.

Their eyes met.

Just for a second.

But in that moment, something shifted inside her—something unforgettable.

After the game, the boy walked straight up to her.

— "Hey, girl. Mind coming here for a second? Did you want to say something to me?"

Sejal was startled—slightly nervous—but she answered honestly.

— "No… I didn't say anything."

The boy frowned slightly, then asked,

— "Then why were you staring at me for so long?"

Without hesitation, Sejal replied,

— "Because you're really handsome. Will you be my boyfriend?"

The boy was stunned.

He looked at her from head to toe, then frowned even more.

— "Which class are you in?"

— "I'm in… Class Six."

He sighed and said firmly,

— "You're still too young. This is the age for studying, not love.

Next time, don't say things like that again."

Sejal turned red with anger and stormed back home.

And just like that… Dean's holiday ended, and he returned to his university abroad.

🎓 Dean's Side

Suzy stood in front of Dean, clearly upset.

— "You didn't even call me once, Dean… I missed you so much."

Dean gave her a small, apologetic smile.

— "Sorry… I was spending time with my parents."

Suzy sighed and smiled back gently.

— "Alright then… let's get to class, or we'll be late."

🏫 Meanwhile, Sejal…

Sejal arrived at school with her brothers.

The moment she entered the classroom, everyone was buzzing with the same excitement:

"A new transfer student."

Her friends ran up to her.

— "Sejal! Did you hear? A new boy just joined our class. They say his dad made a huge donation to the school! And the boy? He looks like a TV actor—tall, handsome, super stylish!"

Just then, Sejal noticed the new boy sitting in her seat.

She frowned and marched over.

— "Hey! This is my seat! Why are you taking up the whole thing? Move!"

The boy looked up once, said nothing, and calmly went back to reading his book.

Not a single expression crossed his face.

Fuming, Sejal dropped into the seat beside him.

This boy's name was Ken.

Smart. Talented.

He was great at studies, brilliant at sketching, and played football really well—a boy of many talents.

After class ended, he silently extended a candy toward Sejal and walked out of the classroom without a word.

Sejal blinked in confusion.

— "Do I look like a child to him? Why is he giving me candy?!"

Her friends giggled.

— "What's wrong? He's so cute! You two actually look good together!"

Sejal made a face.

— "Ugh, stop it. Not interested."

But inside… something told her this wasn't going to be the last time Ken surprised her.
