"Move out!!"
With Marcille's command, all the summoned monsters sprang into motion, charging straight at Kairo Retsu.
She had made her decision—she was really going to attack him.
"It's okay… We can still revive people inside the dungeon…"
Marcille gripped her staff tightly, muttering to herself as if trying to soothe her own heart.
The monsters she had summoned locked onto Kairo.
A massive Walking Mushroom raised its foot and slammed it down toward him, its enormous body seemingly intending to crush him into paste.
But just as the foot came down, Kairo raised his shield, precisely blocking the impact.
"For monsters this big—we hunters are more than experienced!"
Kairo grinned with excitement.
His Charge Blade's sword glowed with a crimson charge, and a two-hit Charged Slash drove into the mushroom's flesh, building up energy inside the sword's phial.
"Come on!"
He slotted the sword into the shield, and with a sharp pull, the stored energy was transferred into the phial chamber inside the shield.
Before any other monsters could act, Kairo's rapid maneuvers had fully charged his equipment.
Red Shield—the core of the Charge Blade's function!
Whether for defense or offense, a fully powered Red Shield was indispensable.
"Time to charge up!"
While fending off the monsters with his shield, Kairo continued slicing with his sword, leaving wounds across their bodies.
Every strike added more energy to his weapon—this was the true foundation of the Charge Blade's power.
Seeing that the normal monsters couldn't harm him, Marcille ordered her larger monsters to try suppressing him.
Like an Teostra, or a super-sized Walking Mushroom.
Even if Kairo had the power to kill them, surely the sheer size difference would force him to back down—right?
That was what Marcille thought.
But as the Teostra charged toward him, Kairo's smile only widened.
Once again, he slotted his now-glowing sword into his shield, and as the energy surged, the shield began to spin violently.
The edge of the shield turned into whirling blades of energy, glowing with lethal power.
"Let's go—SCOOP!!"
Kairo roared as the spinning Charge Blade swept upward, smashing into the charging Teostra's lower jaw.
The beast had opened its massive maw to bite him, but Kairo's devastating uppercut forced its head violently skyward.
A gruesome wound tore open beneath its chin, mangling flesh and scale alike.
While the Teostra reeled from the blow, dazed and off balance, Kairo stepped forward.
He swung the Charge Blade from behind, bringing it down with crushing force—slamming the monster's head into the ground.
The rotating blade tore into every inch of tissue it touched, turning it into something like ground meat.
Blood and gore sprayed across Kairo's body, leaving him looking like a butcher straight out of a slaughterhouse.
The Teostra's head was now utterly unrecognizable—crushed beyond recovery. It would not be getting up again.
"I told you,"
Kairo wiped blood from his face with one hand.
"We're really good at taking down big monsters."
"And that was… surprisingly easy."
He looked down at the corpse and shook his head.
"Too fragile! A proper Elder Dragon should last a full minute under the saw and still be kicking!"
"That was… a Teostra…"
Marcille was stunned.
The same monster that had wiped out their party, even devouring Falin and triggering everything that followed…
Had just been annihilated. Effortlessly.
And it wasn't like Laios's underhanded trick of piercing the reverse scale.
No.
This was a frontal assault—with a weapon so terrifying in its raw power that it defied imagination.
He didn't just kill it—he destroyed it.
There was no reverse scale left—
Not even a patch of unbroken flesh on its entire neck.
Meanwhile, Kairo was practically euphoric.
"I fought a bunch of elves earlier…"
He mumbled in front of Marcille, almost to himself.
"I was using a Charge Blade then too, but I didn't dare go all out with it…"
"These weapons… were never meant to be used on people."
The blade in his hands was still spinning.
As Kairo stepped forward, the rotating shield cleaved straight through another giant Walking Mushroom—splitting it cleanly in half.
Mushroom pulp exploded in all directions.
"I didn't use the SAED… or the Element Discharge… not directly on them."
He spoke quietly.
"It'd be too cruel. These weapons… are way too dangerous to use against humans."
"That's why they're meant for monsters!"
Kairo exclaimed with growing excitement.
The spinning blade ripped through a cluster of smaller monsters.
The whirling edge acted like a blender, scattering chunks of meat and blood evenly across the battlefield.
"These guys are just appetizers!"
He looked toward the Winged Lion.
"I need bigger game…"
Just as Marcille looked like she was about to be scared out of her mind—
A sudden explosion rocked the treehouse behind them.
Thick black smoke billowed out.
Marcille blinked, then realized: that was where Laios and the others had been!
"LAIOS! SENSI! CHILCHUCK!!!!"
Marcille screamed, but before she could rush over—
Three figures burst out from the smoke, clinging to each other.
"Laios!! Where the hell did you even get that dynamite?! That blast was insane!!"
Chilchuck was yelling in fury.
Just moments earlier, Laios had pulled out two barrels of explosives from who-knows-where.
Where they came from wasn't even the issue. The real problem was—
Each of those barrels was wider than Senshi's waist and taller than Chilchuck.
And Laios had detonated them directly.
"If Senshi and I hadn't ducked behind that cauldron—you'd have blown us to bits!!!"
Chilchuck raged.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?!?"
