MHGA Chapter 163 – Let's Eat Together, Along This Hard Road

"!"

The hunters were all dumbfounded by Laios's sudden change of topic.

How did they end up talking about Laios cooking his own monster body?

Wait, who in the world could so calmly suggest making cuisine out of their own monster form and then casually ask their companions if they wanted some?

No—actually, how many people in this world could even become a monster in the first place…?

"Well, it was such a massive Chimera, I figured people would want to try the taste, right?" Laios scratched his head a little sheepishly. "Besides, with just Falin's meat, it might not be enough for everyone to eat…"

There were already a lot of people gathered, and more were still arriving. Compared to the future they'd once seen in the manga, the turnout was now far larger.

That's why Laios had started thinking about how to feed everyone.

Falin's meat alone might not suffice… In that case, it was up to him, her big brother, to support the rest.

Kairo Retsu, apparently reading Laios's thoughts, shouted, "You don't have to support everyone like this! You—ugh, never mind, of course it's you."

He scratched his head, but in the end said, "I'll eat it. As for the other hunters… Laios, whether or not they can eat it is up to them. Not everyone can get over that mental hurdle…"

"I understand. I'll ask Granny Felyne to make a monster-free version!"

After some further discussion, the feast was finally set to begin.

With Laios's official announcement, this banquet—born from many hardships, some joys, and a few unpleasant moments—was underway.

The members of Laios's party spent the next several days waking up to cook, eating what they cooked, then cooking again after eating…

The hunters who came to help with the eating started to feel a little sick after several days straight…

As the newly crowned king, Laios would occasionally get dragged off to deal with politics, only to be kicked back to the table by Kabru when things looked bad.

Eventually… the draconic parts of Falin were completely eaten.

"Is… it time for her to revive?"

Laios felt a bit nervous.

After so many unforeseen twists, he wasn't sure if Falin could be revived like in the future they had once seen.

The old goblin, who was the most skilled in resurrection magic on the island, grumbled at Laios, clearly unhappy: "Do you even know what you've had us eat?! Even if I said no now, I wouldn't be able to back out of reviving her!"

"Wait… none of us have actually met Falin yet, have we?" One of the hunters suddenly realized this as the revival process was underway.

They had all heard plenty about Falin by now, but none of the hunters had actually met her in person...

"She should… really be able to come back, right?" Laios said nervously.

At that moment, a winged Felyne followed the other Felynes into the world—then vanished into the air.

On the level of the soul, where Falin had long been oppressed by the dragon's overwhelming presence, she suddenly caught a whiff of a delightful aroma.

As her consciousness stirred, Falin found that the once-massive dragon had diminished significantly, small enough now that she could begin moving toward the scent.

Gradually, she felt her legs return—enough for her to stand and walk.

Before her appeared a table, and on it… a dish of roasted Chimera Dragon—the lower half of her own dragon form.

That enticing scent was coming from the meat right there.

"Do you… want to eat it?"

Startled, Falin looked up to see a winged Felyne standing behind the table.

As she stared, the winged Felyne—adorable at first glance—suddenly transformed into the majestic form of the Winged Lion, fixing his gaze on her.

"Is it okay?" Falin asked. The Winged Lion gave a small nod.

"Then, I won't hold back. Thank you."

Falin, already drooling, began to eat. But the Winged Lion gave her a reminder.

"Chew thoroughly. Your digestive organs aren't fully restored yet."

"Swallow slowly. Feel the process of consumption."

Watching her eat, the Winged Lion spoke softly: "As you digest it, your esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine absorb every bit of its nourishment. That life force flows throughout your body, sustaining you."

"You…"

As Falin continued eating and listening, something dawned on her. She looked at the Winged Lion and asked, "Will you eat with me?"

"..."

The Winged Lion paused, then sighed. "You siblings are really strange."

"I have something else I want to eat."

He lowered his gaze to Falin. "I envy you. With just a little food, you can experience pure satisfaction."

"But… you too have desires that can never be fulfilled, don't you?"

The Winged Lion looked her in the eye. "How pitiful… both I, and you humans, are."

"Have you… eaten what you wanted to eat now?" Falin asked curiously.

"No."

The Winged Lion shook his head. "A bunch of strangers appeared from who knows where… and took everything I ever wanted to eat. They didn't leave me even a scrap."

"But…"

He continued, "They gave me something new to eat."

"I'm starting to understand you all."

The Winged Lion's expression softened. "That feeling of being slowly filled by food… that feeling that's equivalent to happiness—that's what you call satisfaction."

"From now on… I've found something I want to keep eating forever."

As the Winged Lion spoke, Falin finished the roast dragon.

"Was it good?" he asked.

Falin nodded vigorously.

"Want to keep eating?" the Winged Lion asked again.

"I do!" Falin responded.

"So do I." A smile appeared on the Winged Lion's face. "I want to keep eating, too."

"Let's work hard together—for the future ahead."

The Winged Lion smiled, pointing Falin toward a path.

"How pitiful we are… With time, we'll all experience hunger we can't suppress."

"How fortunate we are… We've found something that can satisfy us."

"How lucky we are…"

"That we can eat our fill."

"Let's keep walking down this road."

Everything around them began to dissolve into radiant light, and Falin saw the Winged Lion's form—once like a monster—shrink back into his small, winged Felyne shape.

Then...

Falin opened her eyes, finding herself surrounded by people watching her with tense anticipation.

"Welcome back, Falin."
