Chapter 130 - The True Identity of the Giant's Remains

"What?"

Victor hadn't heard what Luna just said.

"Parseltongue," Luna suddenly said. "According to legend, Druids can communicate with all kinds of animals, and Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth."

"So why don't we ask them?"

She pointed to a crack in the rocks nearby, where a small, completely black snake was slithering, its long body writhing.

"You're right, that's not a bad idea." Victor's tightly knit brows immediately relaxed. "Slytherin was a Parselmouth; it's entirely possible he used this ability to hide himself while also sifting for those who were worthy of his legacy."

"Luna, can you communicate with a snake using Legilimency?"

"I can try."

With that, Luna walked over to the small black snake. When the snake saw a large being suddenly approach it, it immediately became alert, raising its body up.

But Luna wasn't afraid. She began to try and communicate with it.

After a moment, she stood up and shook her head at Victor. "It's no use; its intelligence isn't high enough."

The little black snake was just an ordinary snake, and its intelligence couldn't compare to that of a magical creature. Therefore, Luna's communication just now was limited to basic instincts, like knowing whether the other party was hungry or cold.

If that were the case, the trail would end here.

Victor suddenly felt a bit dejected. He had thought that he could find more valuable things through the marble ruins, but he hadn't expected to be disappointed so quickly and suddenly.

However, a watched pot never boils; this wasn't a big deal.

After all, this was Ireland, a very large island, not Hogwarts, which was a castle that was neither too big nor too small.

How could he be so lucky as to find Slytherin's legacy in such a large place with just two simple words from a Basilisk?

So, Victor just sighed lightly and took Luna's hand.

"Luna, let's go back for now. We don't know how long it will take to find anything by searching like this. Even if we find a new ruin, it's unlikely to have clues about Salazar Slytherin's legacy.

"Let's go back first and wait for Professor Scamander's reply. I have a feeling that the identity of that giant might give us a new direction for our search."

"Alright." Luna nodded.

So, the two of them rode their eagle back to Dublin.

In the afternoon, Victor took Luna to visit the local zoo.

It wasn't until close to midnight that the Thought Projection that had gone to find Professor Scamander finally returned with a new clue.

"Thank you for your hard work. Did you find anything?"

Inside the hotel room, Victor looked at the him that had just returned.

"Professor Scamander almost fainted from excitement when he saw the bones we found," the Thought Projection replied. "You'll find out the details when the memory merges."

With that, the Thought Projection willingly deactivated the magic, instantly turning into countless specks of magic power that merged into Victor's body.

A moment later, new memories appeared in his mind.

"What did Professor Scamander say?"

Just as Victor was slowly digesting the extra memories, Luna, who had already gone to bed, suddenly woke up and came over.

"I'm sorry, I woke you up," Victor turned to look at the figure wearing carrot-patterned pajamas and said apologetically.

"It's okay." Luna walked over barefoot. "Was the giant's identity confirmed?"

"Yes, Professor Scamander was very excited when he saw the giant's skeleton today…"

It turned out that the owner of the huge skeleton was actually the legendary Deep-Sea Giant clan.

This giant race had only existed in myths, and no one had ever been able to confirm their existence.

Legend says that they had ugly horns on their heads, were ferocious and cruel, and possessed great power and intelligence. They loved to hunt and eat humans.

"Professor Scamander gave us a book, A Collection of Celtic Myths, saying that what we're looking for might be in it."

Victor said, opening the storybook he had just received.

Luna naturally sat down next to him and began to read the legends about the Deep-Sea Giants.

The legend began with the great flood that ended the world after the book of Genesis.

Because their original home was completely destroyed by the great flood, a Celt named Partholón decided to lead his surviving 48 tribesmen to leave their homeland and embark on a journey to find a new one.

After leaving their old home, Partholón and his people drifted aimlessly on the sea. After an unknown amount of time, they finally landed on the empty and desolate island of Ireland.

After landing on the island, Partholón and his companions began to clear the barren mountains, plant crops, build houses, and have children.

They created tribes and civilizations and divided Ireland into five regions: Ulster in the north, Connacht in the west, Leinster in the east, Munster in the south, and Meath in the center.

However, just as Partholón and his people were beginning to multiply on Ireland, three groups of monsters called Fomorians suddenly walked from the sea onto the land of Ireland.

So, in order to protect their new home, Partholón's people began to pick up their weapons and fight the Fomorians, starting a brutal, three-hundred-year war for control of Ireland.

In the end, Partholón's people defeated the Fomorians and drove them to a small island overseas.

At the same time, to prevent these fierce giants from retaliating, Partholón's people also sent the strongest Druids in the tribe to the island to permanently imprison and monitor the Fomorians.

In fact, Fomorians were just a transliteration of the Deep-Sea Giants in the Celtic language.

Closing the Collection of Celtic Myths, Victor fell into deep thought.

Although the stories in these Celtic myths couldn't be completely trusted, these myths were usually adapted from some real historical events.

Therefore, if one were to follow the stories in this book, the Celts had once fought fiercely with the Deep-Sea Giants on this land of Ireland.

Could the reason Salazar Slytherin left Hogwarts have been that he learned his homeland was being invaded by the Deep-Sea Giants, and he was forced to leave the magical school he had worked so hard to create?

Furthermore, as a powerful Druid, if Slytherin returned to his homeland and helped his people defeat the Deep-Sea Giants, would he have willingly gone to the small island where the Deep-Sea Giants were imprisoned to guard and suppress them?

So, Victor thought for a moment, then opened the satellite map of Ireland and began to look for the legendary overseas island.

There aren't many islands near Ireland. The closest one to Dublin is Lambay Island, but the island is too small and too close to the mainland, so it's unlikely to be the place where the Deep-Sea Giants were held.

So, Victor turned his attention to the largest island between England and Ireland.

On the third day in Dublin, Victor and Luna flew on the eagle from Dublin and spent about ten minutes finally arriving at the Isle of Man.

Isle of Man: It is an island between England and Ireland, with an area of 572 square kilometers. The terrain is high in the middle and low in the east and west, making it an oval-shaped island running from the northeast to the southwest.

Victor flew over the Isle of Man, looking at the map in his hand. The entire island only had seven lakes.

If he was looking for a mire, these lakes would be the first places to search.

Just as Victor was about to go to the first lake to explore, Luna suddenly pointed to a forest on the ground and shouted, "Look! There's an oak forest here too!"

Oak forest?!

A question mark and an exclamation mark immediately appeared on Victor's head.

Because according to the information he had, the native plants on the Isle of Man were mostly conifers, and there had never been any mention of oak forests growing there!

He immediately looked down at the ground.

Sure enough, a small patch of tall oak trees stood by the lake, swaying in the wind. When Victor saw this, he immediately controlled his eagle to fly excitedly towards the oak forest.

After landing, Victor suddenly felt that the ground under his feet was unusually soft, like stepping on a hard clump of seaweed.

He immediately activated his Eye Magic to look around. Soon, he saw something unusual buried deep in the mud at the bottom of the lake.

For some reason, Victor had a strong premonition that what was buried at the bottom of this lake was definitely what he was looking for.

He then took Luna's hand and went deep into the bottom of the lake together, while an invisible force completely isolated the green lake water around them.

Floating above the mud at the bottom of the lake, a light blue magic circle of Water Magic lit up in Victor's hand, and a huge whirlpool instantly washed away the thick mud at the bottom of the lake, revealing the ancient ruins that had been buried for thousands of years.

In front of them, seven unusually ferocious giant serpent statues with pointed fangs were intertwined with each other in no particular order, forming a circle, like a strange Ouroboros.

And what the Ouroboros surrounded was a huge square, like one used for sacrifices.

In the center of the square, there was a white marble serpentine platform, which was very similar to the one in the underground pool at Hogwarts.

In that instant, an ancient sense of solemnity and history washed over them.
