Chapter 133 - The Moon Frog

What a complicated history…

After listening to Slytherin's story, Victor could only sigh that everyone in this world has their own fascinating story that others are unaware of.

However, Slytherin had just said that this place was a prison…

Victor activated his X-ray Vision and observed the surroundings. He was surprised to find that deeper underground, numerous neatly arranged cells held hundreds of complete Deep-Sea Giant skeletons. They lay in various poses within the cramped, rectangular cells.

Judging by the state of these skeletons, these Deep-Sea Giants must have been so confined in these cells during their lifetimes that they couldn't even turn over.

After learning the true history, Victor put away The Diary of Salazar Slytherin.

Although there were some twists and turns along the way, it only took three days to find Slytherin's legacy, which was a bit beyond Victor's expectations, as he hadn't come to Ireland with the firm intention of finding it.

However, after listening to Slytherin's true story, he suddenly realized something interesting.

The four founders of Hogwarts all seemed to have left behind safeguards to protect the school.

Godric Gryffindor transformed himself into a Giant Squid and hid in the Black Lake.

Salazar Slytherin left behind the Basilisk Hogni to preserve the final chance for Hogwarts's survival.

Rowena Ravenclaw turned Hogwarts Castle into a fortress of war, with knight stone statues and moving staircases.

Helga Hufflepuff left behind hundreds of powerful house-elves.

So far, he had found the legacies of three of the Hogwarts founders.

Thinking of this, Victor's mind became active again. He really wanted to complete the set and find Hufflepuff's legacy as well.

There were two directions to look. One was the house-elves and Peeves at Hogwarts, to see if Hufflepuff had left any last words for them.

The second was Hufflepuff's Cup, which was definitely a clue, but he would need to find time to retrieve it from Gringotts.

Leaving Slytherin's tomb, Victor refilled the lake with mud to cover it, preventing any Muggles from discovering the location.

It was already past one in the afternoon when they returned to the hotel in Dublin.

After a delicious lunch, Victor and Luna had a comfortable afternoon nap and were getting ready to pack their bags to go home.

But just then, Luna was lying on the bed, looking up at the evening sky, her eyes distant, lost in thought.

Curious, Victor looked at her and asked, "Luna, what's wrong? If we don't pack soon, we won't get back until it's dark."

"It's a full moon tonight," Luna replied to herself, seemingly not hearing him. She looked out the window at the sight of the sun and moon together in the sky and suddenly blurted out, "We can go look for the Moon Frogs!"

Victor smacked his forehead.

Sure enough, he had guessed it the moment he saw Luna's dazed state; she was still thinking about those Moon Frogs.

The Moon Frog was an unknown creature that the Lovegood family believed existed. They were said to live on the moon.

The legend came from a submission to the Quibbler by a wizard who claimed to have ridden a Cleansweep Six to the moon and brought back a bag of Moon Frogs as proof.

But it wasn't that Victor didn't want to believe Luna. It was just that the description of the Moon Frog was too absurd.

He was fine with accompanying Luna to find a Crumple-Horned Snorkack or a Nargles, because at least those were on Earth.

But flying to the moon to catch frogs? Even with his immense power, he couldn't do that!

But now there was nothing he could do. He had already promised Luna before they left that he would help her find Moon Frogs. He couldn't go back on his word; backing out now was absolutely out of the question.

So, a bead of helpless cold sweat trickled down Victor's forehead, and he asked with a look of resignation, "Luna, where do you plan on looking for Moon Frogs?"

Luna pulled a copy of the Quibbler from out of nowhere and replied happily, "We can go to the moon to look for them!"

This sentence made Victor feel like his brain was filled with the croaking of frogs.

And so, to help Luna find Moon Frogs, their originally three-day trip was extended by another day…

The night was deep, with a bright moon and sparse stars.

The radiant moon hung high in the night sky. A silver veil of moonlight caressed the mountains and lakes of Ireland with every gentle breeze. The water shimmered under the moonlight, breaking into countless fleeting silver crystals as it hit the pebbled shore.

Lough Corrib, the largest lake in Ireland.

It formed on a limestone bedrock, deepened by glacial erosion, and was rich in salmon, sturgeon, and other fish.

The Lough Mask water flowed in from the north via the Cong River, and after accepting many underground streams and the River Clare, it flowed south into Galway Bay.

There were many small islands in the lake, and most of them had ancient religious ruins and castles.

And at this very moment, a huge eagle was soaring in the night sky above Lough Corrib.

Victor looked down at the bright moon reflected in the rippling lake and said, "If Moon Frogs really live on the moon, then this is the most likely place."

"Let's go to the moon!" Luna said happily.

Victor nodded and controlled the eagle to circle and descend.

The moment the eagle's talons touched the lake, it instantly transformed into a raft of the same size.

Luna couldn't wait to lie on the edge of the raft, her hand gently gliding through the cool lake water. In the moonlight, she could vaguely see her reflection in the lake.

Then, she began to stare intently at the moon on the surface of the lake, searching for the legendary Moon Frogs.

Looking at Luna, Victor smiled and shook his head like a doting father, not wanting to disturb her.

He found a comfortable spot on the raft, lay down, stretched, and began to admire the bright moon in the sky. He also took a piece of chocolate from his pocket and munched on it with a crunch.

Hoo-hoo…

The night was quiet, and the moon was rising higher and higher.

The hooting of owls could be heard from the distant forest, and from time to time, fish would leap out of the calm lake, gulping down the insects that had fallen onto the water's surface, then returning to the water with a loud splash.

Time passed by, and Victor finished his chocolate, feeling sleepier by the minute.

So, to wake himself up, he tensed his stomach muscles and sat up, then went over to Luna's side and stared at the moon on the water's surface with her.

"Did you see anything?" Victor asked curiously.

"I can tell they're in there, but unlike Crumple-Horned Snorkacks, they're not shy, but they are cowards," Luna replied dreamily, her eyes filled with a rare excitement.

Hearing the girl's cryptic words, Victor scratched his head in confusion. He felt like he couldn't keep up with Luna's way of thinking.

And for a moment, he even began to doubt whether the species of Moon Frog really existed.

So, he stared thoughtfully at the calm lake, then, like Luna, he lay on the edge of the raft, his eyes fixed on the moon on the water's surface.

However, as the night deepened, his body's biological clock began to act up.

Victor felt sleepiness creeping in again, and his eyelids started to droop. He swayed and kept nodding off.

In addition, the Irish night was very cool. The gentle breeze brushed against him, giving him a very comfortable and refreshing feeling, making him even more sleepy.

And just as Victor's eyes were about to completely close, a tiny ripple suddenly appeared on the water's surface. His eyes seemed to have just caught a glimpse of something different under the water.

He quickly rubbed his eyes and looked carefully, feeling very strange.

He didn't think he was seeing things because he was tired. After all, after so many years of fighting, not even the smallest anomaly could escape his eyes.

And just then, Luna, with a smile, blurted out something that shocked Victor.

"One of them is running away!"

"Luna, what did you see?" Victor looked at her in amazement.

"A Moon Frog just ran away," Luna replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world, then looked up at Victor in confusion. "Didn't you see it?"

"No…" Victor shook his head blankly.

"It's scared of the moonless places." Luna blinked, then reached out and made a scooping motion in the water.

Just then, a cloud happened to drift by and blocked half of the moon.

Victor could see that on the edge of Luna's cupped hands, in a place where the moonlight could not reach, a tiny webbed foot with five toes suddenly appeared.

"What the… Are they actually real?!" Victor exclaimed, his eyes widening.

He immediately leaned in for a closer look, but when his shadow blocked the moonlight, the frog in Luna's hand suddenly struggled violently, then with a kick of its legs, it plopped back into the water.

Seeing this, Victor immediately snapped his fingers, and a ball of water rose from the lake and floated in front of him.
