Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - The Spark

Chapter 6 – The Spark

Kai – POV

I scanned the clearing.

Twelve goblins total—including the one face-down at my feet.

Average level: 10.

Stats? Trash.

Even with the numbers advantage, I figured we could take them. I was a little worried about Yuki—only level 1, and her stats were nerfed from the taming—but she could still sling spells. If she stuck to ranged attacks, we might make it through.

I exhaled slowly. No rest for the wicked, huh?

Just as I lunged toward the closest goblin, a scream tore through the treeline behind their formation. Another fell, blood hissing against the dirt. Then a third collapsed, clawing at its throat, gurgling on its own blood.

What the hell?

A fourth went down—this one missing an entire arm, writhing in agony. And that's when Nyla's voice echoed across the link.

"I'll handle the grunts, Master. Take out the leader."

"You're doing this?" I snapped through the bond.

No response.

She'd said "leader," but hell if I knew which one that was. They all looked like crusty green knockoffs of each other. Another goblin dropped—something shadowy slipped beneath it just before it fell.

My brain felt fogged, slow—like I was pushing through molasses. Focus, dumbass. Find the leader.

Behind me, Yuki raised her hand. Frost coiled around her fingers, and she launched a shard of ice like a bullet. One of the goblins took it to the face and dropped instantly.

The rest started panicking—scattering, shouting. Yuki prepped another shot—

And then I heard it.

Singing.

Soft. Melodic. Haunting.

I couldn't place the source, but it was coming from somewhere behind them. A shimmer pulsed through the air, like heat off sunbaked rock. Yuki's second shot hit… but this time, no blood. No collapse.

Red light bloomed around the goblins—some kind of barrier.

The singing was the source.

"Yuki, increase the power—those little bastards are getting buffed!"

"That was max output," she growled. "I've lost half my power thanks to being tamed by a brute."

"You're welcome," I muttered.

Great. She was outmatched, Nyla couldn't land hits either, and now we had magical theme music.

"I think I can drop the barrier," I said. "But I need a distraction. Can you two manage?"

"Yes," they said in eerie unison.

Yuki's mist expanded, veiling us in cold fog. Nyla summoned her shadow doubles—every one of them howling from a different direction. The goblins lost their minds, swinging wildly, smacking into each other.

Perfect.

I slipped through the haze, charging straight toward the glow. My shoulder crashed into something soft, and both of us hit the ground. The singing stopped.

The red glow vanished.

I blinked. The thing I'd tackled… wasn't a goblin soldier.

She was small. Green, sure—but her skin was smooth, her body delicate. Wild red hair. No scars. No jagged teeth. Definitely female. Definitely different.

"Well… didn't expect this."

With the barrier down, it was a bloodbath. Nyla carved through them like living death. Yuki kept them cornered with ice and mist.

It was over in seconds.

Nyla howled in triumph. Yuki stayed cold, but I could feel the buzz of victory humming through her. Total brat.

I looked down at the unconscious girl beneath me. Something told me she was special.

I pulled her stat.

Goblin Princess (Saint)

Name: Unknown

Strength: 12

Defense: 10

Agility: 10

MP: 500

Luck: 200

Taming Compatibility: High

Skills:

• Song of the Priestess

⚠️ Super rare monster detected. One tier above Rare. Recommend taming.

Super rare? That was a thing? And she was only F-rank?

Nyla and Yuki were rare too, and they kicked ass just fine. This one though—she had healer vibes. We needed that.

I placed my hand gently against her chest and initiated the taming.

Success.

I exhaled.

"I hope you're worth the extra baggage, little miss." I looked her over one more time. "You look like a Shyara to me. Yeah… let's go with that."

About ten minutes later, the goblin girl—Shyara—finally stirred.

She didn't resist the taming. Didn't cry. Didn't fight.

If anything, she looked… content. Calm. Submissive.

As she should. I mean, I'm dope as hell.

She had this reserved air—soft, shy, way too delicate for a goblin. When I asked her where she came from, she tried speaking—but her breathy little chirps didn't mean shit to me.

Goblin-speak? Total gibberish.

Thankfully, I had the link now. When I tapped in, it all clicked.

Flashes.

A hidden cave.

A clan scraping by on forest scraps.

She wasn't supposed to be here. She'd snuck along—used some kind of blessing skill to hide herself in the party. Wild streak, this one.

Turns out, nobody knew she was there.

Their ambush on us? Completely impromptu. Our campfire meat must've lured them in, but the way Shyara remembered it, lust had overridden their caution. They'd seen Yuki—and possibly even Nyla—as potential breeders.

I clenched my fists.

My girls had been on the menu.

Shyara, now at my side, led us toward their cave. I'd already abandoned our camp—too open. Too vulnerable. And I was over getting jumped every damn night.

My body ached, my joints were fried, and I just wanted a bed that wasn't moss and trauma.

Still… as we moved through the woods, something shifted.

The air—it felt alive. Too alive.

The breeze danced across my skin, chilling my sweat.

Two suns cast down golden warmth that felt almost cool.

Even the birdsong sounded… musical.

For the first time since arriving in this murder-world, I didn't feel like I was just surviving.

I felt connected.

I could feel Nyla. Yuki. Shyara. All three of them pulsing through the link—relieved, warm, content. And as that wave passed over me, I let myself feel it too.

For a moment… I was happy.

Then the smell hit me.

Musky. Sharp. Familiar.

I knew that scent.

Grunting. Slapping. Panting. Moaning.

Something was going hard nearby.

And like an idiot, I followed it.

We pushed through the brush—and there it was.

Two monsters. Ape-like.

One massive and ripped like a steroidal gorilla. The other, smaller, but bent beneath him—breathless, clawing at the dirt as he railed her with full-force, rhythmic slaps.

The smell of sweat, sex, and raw heat hit like a freight train.

The female moaned like a person—arched like one too. Her claws scraped the ground. Her legs trembled. Her face twisted in absolute, helpless ecstasy.

The male bit her neck, grunted deep, and slammed forward one last time.

Both collapsed.

Twitching. Unconscious. Spent.

I stared.

This… was monster breeding?

I'd seen some shit on Earth. Late-night docs. Niche videos.

But this? This wasn't sex.

This was war.

And yet… it shook me.

Her expressions.

Her voice.

They weren't beastly. They were human.

I suddenly remembered the flavor text from my skill tree:

Breeding. Bonding. Evolution. Compatibility.

I'd brushed it off.

Not anymore.

Through the link, I felt it—Nyla's arousal.

Primal. Wild. Desperate.

She wanted to be taken like that. To be bred.

I shut her out.

I might be a perv, but I wasn't going beast-mode on the first furry I saw get dicked down.

Still… the truth settled in.

Nyla. Yuki. Shyara.

They weren't just companions anymore.

They were possibility.

This world had rules.

I could break them.

I wasn't just a survivor.

I was the variable.

And as my Monster Mage skill pulsed in my chest like a second heartbeat, the thought echoed through my mind like a prophecy:

"I could reshape this world."

Nyla – POV

The scent hit me first.

Earth. Blood. Sweat. Musk. Fertility.

Goblins.

I curled my lip as we approached the cliffside. The rock split into a jagged black mouth—Shyara's so-called home.

Home. Disgusting.

I stayed close to Master. His scent grounded me. But even now, he smelled faintly of her. That quiet green thing. The soft-eyed one. She walked behind us, but I could feel her watching him. Clinging to him with her gaze.

Just like I did.

Just like Yuki does now.

I growled low.

She didn't flinch.

Smart.

The cave loomed larger. I tasted vibrations through the earth. Goblin feet. Dozens. Not stealthy. Not to me.

Twenty… maybe thirty. Not all male. A few females, like her. The males though? Their scent reeked of desperation. For food. For blood. For something worse.

I stepped in front of Master without thinking.

"Easy," he murmured, placing a hand on my shoulder.

His touch… gods, his touch.

I could destroy everything. But that single gesture reminded me who I belonged to.

Still, I muttered, "We shouldn't trust them."

"She's leading us."

"She's one of them."

He didn't reply. He just kept walking.

Trusting her.

Trusting me.

That was the difference.

The scent inside twisted the air—hot and wet with heat and want. This wasn't just a cave. It was a den. A rutting ground.

They'd smell me too.

A fertile, strong female entering their nest?

Their instincts would riot.

I pressed closer to Master, brushing him deliberately. Let them know. Mine. He's mine.

Shyara paused at the entrance, murmuring something in that birdlike language. Her eyes never left him. She looked at him like he was light.

I knew that look.

I wanted to claw her throat out.

But I didn't.

Because Master needed her. For now.

Let her prove herself.

And if she failed…

I bared my teeth.

Kai – POV

The goblin stench slammed into me.

Rot. Waste. Meat. Piss.

I gagged. If Shyara had smelled like this, I'd have snuffed her immediately.

I glanced at her. She looked nervous—wouldn't meet my eyes.

Nyla noticed.

She wasn't subtle about it either. Her body buzzed with tension. She hadn't said a word, but the energy around her was razor-sharp.

Still, no time to process it. We needed shelter. This cave sucked, but it was defensible.

We clear this out. It's ours, I said through the link.

"Mm, if you insist," Yuki replied coldly. "I'll fog the entrance. Let the pup play hunter. No need for the green one. Wouldn't want her to chip a claw."

Shyara stayed quiet.

She looked… hollow. This was her home. Her people. And we were about to paint the walls with them.

I felt a flicker of sympathy—until I remembered they wanted to use my girls like breeding stock.

No mercy.

Nyla suddenly twitched.

"Disgusting," she hissed.

And then she vanished.

"Nyla, hold up—"

Too late.

Screams rang out as her claws met flesh.

Blood hit the cave walls. One goblin gurgled, another shrieked. She moved through them like lightning with fangs.

Her shadows swarmed. Bones snapped. Organs spilled.

Yuki's mist darkened the entrance, obscuring the chaos.

The female goblins tried to run.

Nyla caught them.

What happened next…

It wasn't war.

It was a statement.

She smiled as she tore them apart—slowly, cruelly.

That affectionate pup who curled beside me? Gone.

What stood in her place?

A monster.

And for the first time—I was scared.

Nyla – POV

I couldn't breathe.

The smell of them. Their hunger. Their filth.

They wanted to take me. Use me.

Not again.

Only Master.

Only he would ever touch me.

I didn't plan the attack. I snapped.

Claws. Fangs. Rage.

The males died quick. Unworthy.

Then I saw the females.

Soft. Green. Wide-eyed.

Like her.

Like Shyara.

That snake.

Always watching. Always sneaking. Wanting him.

He's mine.

I made it slow. I wanted her to see.

And she did.

I caught her eyes.

Then—him.

Master.

His face… it wasn't awe. Or pride.

It was fear.

Good. Let him fear me. Let them all fear me. They'll never take him. I'll kill everything—

A cry.

A baby.

Tiny. Goblin. Still wet with birth.

It would grow into them.

A threat.

I raised my claw.

But she stepped in.

Shyara. Shielding it.

I barked. Ordered her to move.

She didn't.

She curled tighter. Protecting it.

Traitor.

I let the rage consume me.

I brought the claws down—

And struck something warm.

Thick.

Wrong.

I looked up—and my world shattered.

Master.

Blood spilled across his chest.

He stumbled. Kneeling.

Smiling through the pain.

"There's my girl…"

And collapsed.

Kai – POV

Pain bloomed across my chest like fire.

I could barely see. My blood slicked the stone.

Still, I reached for her. Touched her head.

She trembled.

But the link—what I felt—

Was fear.

She was scared.

But so was I.

Of her.

She saw it.

She stepped back.

The fear faded.

Her eyes welled up—and she ran.

Vanished into the dark.

Nyla – POV

I heard Yuki's voice behind me. Broken. Trembling.

"What have you done…?"

She knelt over him, glowing with healing light.

"Master, please… please stay with me…"

I tried to explain.

"I didn't mean—"

"Shut up."

Her words were knives.

"Your tantrum might've killed him. Don't speak. Don't move. When he's safe—I'll deal with you."

I couldn't breathe.

Couldn't think.

His blood was on my claws.

I turned—and fled.

Into the cave. Into the black.

Away from the only thing I ever loved.

And behind me…

Silence.
