Chapter 36: Climbing a Tree and Chicken Legs.

But in fact, Fang Bie was not very frustrated about losing the monk Kong Wu. Instead, he took Xue Ling and continued to walk towards the wilderness outside Luocheng. He did not take the main road or the fields, but walked towards the place with deep grass and dense forests. He took Xue Ling and walked for about fifty or sixty miles before stopping.

This place was already sparsely populated, even worse than the forest where Xue Ling took a bath. This was a mountain road fifty or sixty miles away from Luocheng, a remote and poor place with deep ravines and dense forests.

If Xue Ling had not now almost completely trusted Fang Bie, otherwise, no one would have followed Fang Bie to such a place.

After all, there is a saying that this is a Feng Shui treasure land for killing and robbing.

If Fang Bie plotted against Xue Ling here, then Xue Ling really wouldn't even know how she died.

But then again.

In a sense, Xue Ling had come to terms with her fate. Her rank was far inferior to Fang Bie's. If Fang Bie truly had ulterior motives towards her, she wouldn't be able to resist.

At least not yet.

But Xue Ling believed Fang Bie wasn't that kind of person.

"What do you think of this place?" Fang Bie asked, turning back to Xue Ling.

Xue Ling looked around. They were in a deep forest. The vegetation was still lush in early summer, but not completely impassable. In fact, Fang Bie had been following a path similar to a woodcutter's path. While bumpy, it wasn't a problem for Fang Bie and Xue Ling, two martial artists. Ahead

lay a somewhat empty gravel field, dotted with towering, towering trees, like pines, cypresses, poplars, and locust trees, each as thick as a man's embrace. The setting sun barely penetrated the canopies, casting a shimmering light through them.

Yes Fang Bie had been traveling with Xue Ling all day, and only now did Xue Ling understand his intention in bringing her to eat zongzi.

It was to eat zongzi that they could make such a long journey.

And along the way, Xue Ling didn't see Fang Bie eat anything. Could he really hold on?

Thinking of this, Xue Ling replied, "I don't feel very good."

Xue Ling had followed this guy for so long because of his trust in her. Now that he was here, he actually had the nerve to ask her how it was?

"I think it's pretty good here." Fang Bie smiled and said, then looked at Xue Ling: "By the way, can you climb trees?"

What?

Xue Ling collapsed. She didn't expect Fang Bie to ask this question.

"Does whether I can climb trees have anything to do with the current situation?" Xue Ling asked seriously.

"Of course it does, and it has a lot to do with it." Fang Bie answered while looking at the tops of the treetops around him that were almost invisible if he looked up.

"Because I plan to climb a tree."

"Why climb a tree?" Xue Ling was confused again.

"Waiting for someone." Fang Bie's answer was concise and to the point.

With that, Fang Bie trotted up a poplar tree. The black-clad youth climbed the thick, two-armed poplar tree like a monkey, disappearing in a flash. A moment later, Fang Bie's voice was heard from the top: "Your turn next."

Xue Ling...

The girl looked up and called out, "Did I say I could climb trees?"

Her voice echoed feebly through the empty valley.

Fang Bie smiled from the treetop: "I have a feeling you can."

Xue Ling bit her lip lightly: "Believe it or not, I'll abandon you and return to Luocheng."

Although it would be dark by the time they returned, Xue Ling was no ordinary, fragile girl, fearless of bandits or wolves.

"I don't believe it," Fang Bie said calmly.

"Come up."

Xue Ling rushed to the poplar tree and vented her anger with punches and kicks. After all her efforts, the tree remained motionless, demonstrating the difficulty of trying to shake a tree with an ant.

After venting her anger, Xue Ling obediently clung to the bark of the poplar tree with her arms like a gecko, slowly climbing up.

Yes, Xue Ling could climb trees. She wasn't some spoiled little girl at home. Otherwise, she wouldn't have learned martial arts from her father, nor would she have begged him for a Feiyu suit to join the Imperial Guard.

She truly could climb trees.

But who would support asking a girl to climb a tree?

Although she wanted to bite Fang Bie off to vent her anger, Xue Ling still obediently climbed nearly ten feet. Fortunately, the girl wasn't afraid of heights, and her breathing was steady. She didn't run out of energy halfway up, or like a cat, get scared halfway up, overcome by the terror of being unable to get up or down.

Fang Bie was standing on a tree branch, smiling, waiting for Xue Ling. As Xue Ling approached, she reached out and tried to slap Fang Bie without a word.

This time!

Thisis too much!

Fang Bie stepped back, dodging the attack. Then he pulled out an oil-paper bag. "I'll use this to apologize to you, okay?"

Fang Bie asked.

"What is this?" Xue Ling asked curiously.

"Guess?" Fang Bie said.

Xue Ling bit her lip. "Do you believe I can still jump down now?"

"I do, I do, my proud young lady." Fang Bie said, unwrapping the oil-paper bag. Xue Ling instantly caught the alluring aroma of meat amidst the fragrant grassy air. Inside, she saw a golden, crispy fried chicken drumstick.

Xue Ling swallowed silently.

She was hungry.

She had walked dozens of miles of mountain roads and climbed such a tall tree without even a sip of water.

Now Fang Bie held out a fried chicken drumstick in front of her. Under normal circumstances, Xue Ling would have almost knelt before Fang Bie.

Well, almost, not really kneeling.

But she was so hungry that her stomach even started to growl.

"Do you think I, Lin Xue, am someone you can just pamper with food?" Xue Ling said coldly.

He tried hard to write his disdain on his face.

"Oh." Fang Bie nodded, then he took a big bite of the chicken leg.

He took a big bite of the chicken leg.

Important things should be repeated three times.

Xue Ling was mad: "Can't you coax me?"

She really wanted to eat it, but eating a chicken leg with Fang Bie was not unacceptable after thinking about it carefully .

Xue Ling felt more and more embarrassed.

Fang Bie looked up at Xue Ling, and Xue Ling could see the distinct plump and juicy meat fibers on the fried chicken leg.

"Are you still angry?" Fang Bie asked.

Xue Ling nodded angrily.

"Do you want to eat?" Fang Bie asked again.

Xue Ling nodded pitifully.

Fang Bie laughed.

Then he reached out and took out another oil-paper package from the tree hole behind him and handed it to Xue Ling: "Eat it."

Xue Ling took the oil-paper package and felt that it was still a little warm. She quickly opened the oil-paper and found a big golden fried chicken leg inside.

Xue Ling sniffed and started crying.
