The pack gatherings were always a mix of tension and ceremony, but tonight felt different. There was an unspoken unease in the air, a heaviness that pressed down on everyone present. The grand hall was packed, the low hum of voices reverberating against the stone walls. I stood near the back, blending into the shadows as best I could, my fingers clutching the edge of my chair.

Liam was seated near the front, his posture straight and confident despite the undercurrent of hostility in the room. His role as the substitute teacher had been a point of contention for some, but he handled it with a calm authority that only seemed to fuel the envy of his detractors.

But tonight, it wasn't just about Liam. I could feel it,something bigger was brewing.
