Chapter 74 - And I will huff...

Audrey couldn't defeat the strength of the rushing waves.

It crashed against her with brutal force, plunging her deep within its blackness as the water tumbled over the side of the outcropping rocks, falling over a hundred feet to even more treacherous waters below.

The currents rushing over her, she struck the water hard. And for a moment she kept falling, sinking into the cold darkness. Stars sparked in her vision as her consciousness threatened to abandon her. Her eyes closed, her chest barely lifting with breaths…

She gasped, choking on water through her nose and mouth. The icy darkness of the deep looked peaceful, undisturbed by neither plant nor wildlife. Welcoming her descent with open arms.

Her survival instincts kicked in. Her limbs worked against the pressure pulling her under, and with determined flaps of her hands she rose, beating the currents until her head broke the surface.
