Chapter 5 - Hell is empty, ghosts are on earth

On the streets and in the sky, countless hideous and terrifying creatures teemed. Their density was so dense, so overwhelming, that it stretched as far as the eye could see.

It was as if this was a strange world, and humans were the only ones to be found.

Humanoid creatures, shrouded in black shadows and devoid of facial features, stalked the streets.

Headless giants, towering over skyscrapers, shuttled between them.

Blooded figures, stripped of their skin, floated in mid-air beneath gigantic, eyeless heads, their necks tethered to countless crimson tentacles. Countless other creatures, with various shapes, deformed bodies, and hideous, sinister faces, drifted freely like dandelions.

But these strange things were on a completely different level compared to the strangeness atop the dome.

Above the dome, a pair of enormous, pure white wings obscured the sky. Their whiteness was so pure, like the wings of an angel.

But these wings were attached to a single eye, covered in bloodshot tumors. That single eye seemed larger than the sun, emitting an eerie red glow that felt oppressive, taboo, and ominous.

In the distant sky, a slender bride stood, dressed in a red wedding gown with a large "囍" (Happy Birthday) character embroidered on her chest. Her hands, pure white, were folded gracefully before her.

It sounded normal, but this bride had a rabbit head!

The rabbit's fur was pure white, without a single hue. Its eyes were blood-red, like two rubies, and its face wore an anthropomorphic smile.

Strange, utterly strange.

Though clearly a rabbit head, it gave off the impression of a lady from an ancient noble family, as if she were truly a dignified and beautiful bride.

Besides these two, there were others even more monstrous and indescribable.

A grayish-white, slimy giant, its body covered in densely packed eyeballs. These eyeballs constantly burst like bubbles, and new ones sprouted from its flesh, repeating the cycle. A Buddha head, utterly pitch black, majestic in appearance, but riddled with tumors.

A formless substance, a black mist filled with countless roaring human faces.

A gigantic, eerie clay statue.

Each one was utterly forbidden, terrifying, and incomprehensible.

These strange beings atop the dome formed a deeply impactful scene. They seemed to constantly emanate countless indescribable, incomprehensible, filthy yet real messages, these distorted messages constantly assaulting Fang Xiu's soul.

At that moment, he seemed to hear countless mutterings filled with evil and depravity. They were sounds not human, each word tainted with enough taint to drive one mad.

If it had been the Fang Xiu of the past, he would have collapsed at the mere sight of them.

But Fang Xiu, now, had died eighteen times, been eaten alive eighteen times. If he truly had a soul, it was already distorted beyond recognition by death, madness, and hatred. Although these strange things were terrifying, they weren't enough to cause his mind to collapse. Instead, they twisted and maddened his soul. Or perhaps, his mind had already been in a state of collapse, and this mental pollution felt like a baptism for him.

"Heh...hahaha..."

"Hahahahahaha..."

Fang Xiu suddenly burst into laughter, but his laughter was extremely twisted and suppressed, as if it were being forced out of his throat, making it creepy.

For some reason, seeing the strangeness all over the world, he just wanted to laugh, and he couldn't stop.

He didn't want the strangeness to notice, so he covered his mouth, but the twisted laughter still escaped from between his fingers.

So he could only lower his head, his fair face obscured by the falling shadows, but it couldn't hide those fiery, mad eyes.

"Interesting...this world is so interesting! Hahaha..."

"Cough cough..."

The intense laughter made him cough uncontrollably, but the more he coughed, the more intense his laughter became, and so did his coughing, until he even began to retch. "Uncle, what's wrong with you? Are you sick?"

A little girl came into Fang Xiu's sight.

She was about four or five years old, with pigtails and a lollipop.

He wasn't surprised to see the little girl. Based on his memories from his previous life, he knew this world appeared normal on the surface. People lived normal lives, going to school, working, getting married, and having children.

It seemed as if no one was aware of these strange things.

So, the appearance of a little girl in the neighborhood was normal.

He tried to suppress his smile and appear more friendly.

"I'm fine, little sister. And please call me brother."

Fang Xiu reached out, wanting to touch the adorable little girl's head. Once upon a time, he had also fantasized about having a lovely daughter.

However, the little girl's next words made his hand freeze in mid-air.

"You can see me!"

The innocence on the little girl's face vanished in an instant, revealing the same suppressed, frantic look of surprise as his wife.

Fang Xiu was stunned for a moment, then burst into uncontrollable laughter again. "Hahaha... Interesting! So funny."

This time, he laughed so hard that tears came to his eyes.

Snap!

He pressed his hand hard against the little girl's head, ruffling her hair vigorously.

But the next moment, his hand bounced away.

The little girl was swelling at a visible rate. Her originally small frame was like a balloon, countless scarlet flesh gushing out, constantly squeezing out of her body.

In the blink of an eye, the innocent and lovely little girl transformed into a two-meter-tall fleshy monstrosity, a mountain of exposed flesh, covered in a dense web of blood vessels.

Her two pigtails transformed into two thick, dark horns, and the lollipop in her hand transformed into a huge, bony club, seemingly the leg bones of some unknown creature.

"You can see me!!"

The little girl screamed frantically.

Fang Xiu laughed at her, the glint in his eyes seeming even more insane than the strangeness before him. "I prefer you now compared to your old self, because... this way I won't have to worry about killing you later."

The little girl screamed, raising the bone club, more than a man's height. The shadow it cast enveloped Fang Xiu completely, like the shadow of death.

Fang Xiu continued to laugh: "Now I finally understand why I'm laughing. There are so many strange people like you. So many that it excites me! So many that I don't even worry about not having enough to kill later!

Hahaha... You... all! Must! Die!!!"

Bang!

The bone club came down hard, smashing Fang Xiu into a pulp.
