Chapter 3 - The Reality Check ( 3 )

The girl smiled at him softly and friendly.

Kazuki's mind went blank for a second.

Wow… she's really hot.

Slim waist. Long legs. And those breasts, big, round, and barely contained by her robes. Each step she took made them bounce slightly, noticeable enough.

Crap. Did she see me staring?

He forced a smile, trying to look calm and cool, like he wasn't a guy who just woke up in the middle of nowhere and was secretly eyeing some fantasy priestess.

"You… your outfit looks a bit different," she said, tilting her head.

"Y-yeah," Kazuki stammered, scratching the back of his head. "I just… woke up here."

"You lost?" she asked.

"Ah… not really," he lied, looking away nervously. "Just… is there a town nearby?"

"Yes. We're heading there now," she said, glancing back at the wagon. "Want a ride?"

Kazuki hesitated. "Nah. I'll walk."

"You sure?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.

He nodded, then secretly looked at her chest again.

Damn… are all women in this world this sexy?

Her robes weren't exactly modest. That deep neckline showed a lot of cleavage, and her waist curved into her hips in an eye-catching way.

Okay, stop. Focus.

"Well then," she said cheerfully. "We're leaving now."

"R-right. Okay. Have a safe trip."

The wagon started moving again, creaking as it rolled away, and Kazuki just stood there, watching it disappear into the distance.

Of course I wanted a lift, Kazuki thought as the wagon rolled farther down the road.

But then he imagined her party members, especially the big guy with the sword, seeing him checking out her chest.

Yeah… no thanks. Not trying to get killed by the first day.

Still, he couldn't help himself.

I'm just a normal guy. She's attractive. That's just how it is.

He sighed and started walking, following the same path the wagon had taken. The road curved gently through the open landscape, trees swaying on both sides, birds chirping in the distance.

At first, the calm felt nice. But the longer he walked, the more he started questioning himself.

His pace slowed.

What the hell am I even doing?

There were no street signs. No train stations. No GPS. No idea how far he was from civilization, or from whatever counted as civilization here.

His nerves began to creep in.

Okay. Seriously. What am I supposed to do now?

He looked down at his shoes, still the same polished leather shoes from last night. Still scuffed and dirty from Tokyo pavement.

How the hell did I even get here?

He tried to remember. Rewind.

It was fuzzy, but…

That morning, nagged by the lady boss again. Same old stuff about deadlines, office attitude, whatever. He barely paid attention anymore.

Then they dumped overtime on him. Again.

By 10 p.m., he was finally free.

And he went drinking. Alone.

Right… it was supposed to be his day off.

He remembered the bar. The bitter taste of cheap beer. The empty stool next to him.

Then… nothing.

A blank.

And now he was here.

In a place with horse-drawn wagons, attractive mage girls, and absolutely no Wi-Fi.

Kazuki walked slowly, hands in his pockets.

His footsteps were quiet on the dirt path, the breeze brushing past him as the scenery moved by, open fields, distant trees, and a wide sky. It looked like a scene from a fantasy postcard. Unreal, but strangely peaceful.

Beautiful.

So was the first girl he met.

Ah… I shouldn't be thinking about that, he told himself. He scratched his cheek, trying to shake off the thoughts. Focus, Kazuki.

He took a slow breath, eyes drifting toward the horizon.

Once I reach that town… what am I supposed to do?

His pace slowed again.

What if they ask for ID at the gate? My Japanese license probably won't mean anything here.

He patted his wallet just to check, yeah, still there. But completely useless.

Money was another problem. He didn't know what this world's currency was. Doubt they'd accept yen.

He snorted quietly.

Cards? Come on. You think they've got a credit terminal hooked up to some magic ATM, Kazuki?

It was starting to hit him—not just where he was, but how messed up his situation was.

He glanced up at the sky.

In all those isekai anime I've watched recently, the hero usually gets summoned by a goddess or a king. They have powers, special skills, a clear goal.

Kazuki kicked a stone off the road.

Meanwhile, I just got drunk and woke up here.

No cheat abilities. No special guiding hand. Just him, his hungover body, a pack of cigarettes, and a lighter.

And the language, he remembered that conversation.

Lucky that girl spoke some of his language. Or....wait, what did she call it? Oh right… Kuman.

It didn't really matter. If people in this world had their own language—and only a few could understand him, that was going to be a big problem.

As if being broke, ID-less, and dumped into a fantasy world wasn't enough.

He sighed.

Looks like there's a lot he needs to learn from now on.

Not just the language. Everything, culture, rules, money, food, laws....basic survival.

He looked ahead again.

First thing's first: get to that town.
