Chapter 1 - WHAT WAS I MADE FOR

Two summers ago, in the sun-soaked community of California, a spirited seventeen-year-old girl named Mariska Sinclair was navigating the tumultuous waters of adolescence, trying to carve her identity amidst personal tragedy. Living with her father, Joshua Sinclair, ever since losing her mother to cancer two years prior, Mariska found solace in the wild nights spent partying with her two close friends, Chelsea and Hakeem. They were her escape, the thrill of the nightlife allowing her to temporarily forget the deep void left by her mother's passing.

On one particular late summer night, the trio decided to attend an underground car race, a buzz-inducing spectacle that filled the air with adrenaline. Mariska, with her vibrant personality, was known for pushing boundaries and seeking excitement at every turn. As they arrived, the cacophony of revving engines and cheering crowds enveloped them, igniting Mariska's thrill-seeking spirit.

It was then that Mariska's gaze fell upon him London Lolirock. A senior from their school, Tiki High, London was every bit the bad boy stereotype, known for his chiseled features, piercing green eyes, and the confident swagger that came with being the mayor's son. Dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans, he stood out among the throng of spectators; the crowd began to chant his name as he leaned casually against the hood of his sleek Benz, the embodiment of youthful rebellion and magnetism.

Hakeem could hardly comprehend what Mariska found so captivating about London. After all, she was a vibrant, free-spirited girl, and yet here she was, seemingly entranced by someone labeled as ruthless and unpredictable. But for Mariska, the connection was palpable an inexplicable sensation of longing that lingered in the air between them.

As if sensing her gaze, London turned, his eyes locking onto Mariska's for a fleeting moment before he stepped away from his friends. Just when she thought he had lost interest, he reappeared behind her, catching her completely off guard. The world around them faded as he silently led her away from the crowd, their hearts racing with unspoken anticipation.

The ride was filled with an electric tension, and before long, what started as a mere escape led to something entirely unexpected. In the warmth of a summer night, kissing morphed into something deeper, and Mariska found herself nestled in his bed, their lives intertwining in a passionate whirlwind.

However, bliss is often short-lived. Two weeks later, Mariska faced a new reality: she was pregnant with London's child. Exhausted yet determined, she returned to school as summer faded into fall, unaware of the storms brewing ahead.

Upon entering her classroom, Mariska was met with whispers and laughter, students pointing and snickering at her. Confusion washed over her as she pulled out her phone, only to be greeted by a harsh reality: a sex tape featuring her and London had circulated amongst their peers. Tears brimmed in her eyes, and just when she thought she might escape, she caught sight of London passionately kissing her best friend, Chelsea. Betrayed and heartbroken, Mariska sought solace in Hakeem's arms, pouring out her anguish and feelings of betrayal.

In a fit of anger, Hakeem confronted London. Words turned to fists, and though Hakeem lost the fight, the confrontation was heated. He delivered the crushing news that Mariska was pregnant, invoking a cold reaction from London. Rather than stepping up to take responsibility, London escalated the situation, threatening Mariska to terminate her pregnancy without considering the emotional toll of such an ultimatum.

Caught in a whirlwind of fear and confusion, Mariska made the agonizing decision to have an abortion, believing it to be the only way to regain control over her spiraling life. But what was meant to be a step towards healing instead led to tragedy Mariska did not survive the procedure. Her death sent shockwaves through the community and left a permanent void in the lives of those she loved.

Devastated by the loss, London fell into a deep depression, haunted by memories of Mariska and the reality of the choices he made. He realized too late the gravity of his actions that he had broken someone so vibrant and full of potential. In his anguish, he succumbed to his pain, choosing to follow Mariska into the embrace of the unknown.

In a tragic twist of fate, London was laid to rest near Mariska's grave, two souls whose lives had collided with such intensity, now forever linked in memory. As the winds whispered through the trees, one could almost hear the echoes of their youthful laughter, a poignant reminder of how fleeting life can be, and how vital it is to cherish those we love.

"If only I could change the way you saw yourself," he would have whispered to her if given the chance. "You deserve more than this world can throw at you." But instead, the story ended in heartbreak, a bittersweet lesson carved in the sands of time, reminding the living of the fragility of dreams and the weight of our choices.
