Calling it a "meeting" is ridiculous. It was a volatile situation, with tensions high. Rex? He stood center stage as always, full of confidence, and with blood on his jacket. His sword hung across his shoulders like he had nowhere better to be. His eyes, those fiery eyes, shone with a wild intensity. He looked like he woke up looking for trouble.
And then, boom, the Justice League arrived. The whole team—Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, Cyborg. It was as if the city gained a whole new set of gods.
Rex hardly flinched. "Hope you brought snacks, since you took your sweet time. Honestly, I expected a bigger welcome party."
Superman crossed his arms, looking like a classic Boy Scout. "This ends now, Rex."
Rex laughed. "Oh, you read my mind."
Bruce stepped forward, all serious. "Your rampage is over."
That grin on Rex's face could cut through steel. "What, you think you can bore me into surrender?"
Diana glared at him, her voice cool but sharp. "You're scaring people."
He shrugged. "They should be scared."
"That's not something to be proud of."
"It's called survival, Princess."
The tension in the air was so thick you could spread it on toast. Cyborg spoke up, his voice cutting through: "You're tearing the city apart. You're becoming worse than the monsters we fight."
Rex's response was chilly. "Perfect. Fear is the only thing this city respects. Lucky for me, I'm fluent in it."
Superman's eyes flared with intensity for a second. "You're walking a really dangerous path."
Rex stepped closer, acting like he owned the place. "You think that 'S' means you're better than this? News flash: you're not. None of you are."
He casually swung his sword toward the group.
"You don't own me. You can't control me. Try, and I'll pull the rug out from under everything you call 'justice.'"
Batman's jaw tightened. Diana's hand twitched near her lasso. Everyone waited for someone else to make a move.
But Rex? He kept going.
"You want an ultimatum? Fine. Stay out of my way, and I'll stay out of yours. You keep playing shiny hero, and I'll deal with the mess you're too clean to touch."
Aquaman, finally fed up, asked, "And if we say no?"
That smile of Rex's? It vanished. His eyes turned cold.
"Then I stop aiming at monsters."
Silence fell like a bomb. Nobody breathed. The League glanced at each other—suddenly, no one was sure who the real villain was.
Bruce spoke softly. "This isn't over."
Rex turned, already starting to leave. "It never is, Bats. That's the point."
He disappeared into the night, leaving the League staring at shadows.
For the first time, they weren't sure if they had just faced the city's devil or if they had unleashed something much worse.
