Chapter 78 - Lessons in Obedience

(Let the Queen remind her toy who he belongs to)

The silence was misleading.

Too sweet. Too still.

And Kade should have known better.

Janelle didn't raise her voice when she was angry.

She didn't shout.

She didn't even glare.

She simply… smiled.

That's what made his stomach twist when she leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, in that sheer silk robe that clung to her thighs like a whisper of sin.

"You've been staring at him again," she said softly.

Kade blinked, confused. "What?"

"The driver," she murmured. "When he dropped us off… you looked at him. Like you were imagining things."

He tried to laugh. "Seriously? I wasn't—"

"On your knees."

Her voice turned sharp. Just once.

He froze.

Mirabel, lounging on the couch, looked up with an amused smirk but said nothing. She knew better than to interfere when Janelle got like this.

Kade dropped to his knees instantly.

Hard. No hesitation.

"Open your mouth."

He did.

She walked toward him with that slow, dangerous grace. In one hand, she held a collar — black leather, freshly polished, with a silver D-ring in front.

He didn't even know she'd taken it out again.

"Since you like looking at other people," she whispered, slipping the collar around his neck, "you won't be allowed to look at me until I say so."

She fastened it tight.

No escape.

Then she dragged a silk blindfold down over his eyes, tied it behind his head, and tilted his chin up with two fingers.

"You want me to punish you, don't you?"

"Yes," he breathed. "Please…"

"Of course you do." Her voice was velvet. "But I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it because you disappointed me."

He whimpered.

She let him.

Then her footsteps disappeared — and for a full two minutes, there was only silence.

Until the toys came.
