Chapter 36 - "Reincarnation of Night"

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Thump! Thump-thump!

The sound of her heartbeat was loud and clear.

Najenda could feel it—her blood was boiling, and every single cell in her body was undergoing earth-shaking changes.

On top of that…The skin on her lower back and tailbone began to squirm,as if… something was about to burst out.

She didn't know how long had passed, but at last, the reincarnation ritual was complete.

"I feel… so strong now."

Najenda clenched her fists, a flicker of disbelief flashing in her eyes.

Just becoming a demon… and she had already changed this much?

What's more—The invisible barrier that had been holding her back all this time was gone. She could feel it.

And all of this was thanks to Mr. Edgar.

Almost without thinking, Najenda looked at Edgar, gratitude and respect glimmering in her gaze.

But Edgar didn't return her look—he was too busy reading her new status.

[Najenda]

Race: Demon

Master: Edgar Lucifergus

Level: LV27

Skill: Super Regeneration

Super Regeneration: As long as there's even a single drop of blood left, the flesh can be restored.

Edgar's eyes lit up.

Najenda had just given him a massive surprise.

Super Regeneration.

That was a high-value skill—a true life-saving trump card.Exactly the kind of ability he needed right now.

Heh… jackpot.

"Master, what is it?"

Najenda looked puzzled.

"Nothing—just that you're amazing."

"Huh?"

She didn't fully understand why she was being praised, but for some reason, it made her happy.

After copying down her status, Edgar handed it to her.

Najenda quickly got dressed and started reading. Edgar had already explained the basics earlier,so she went straight to the skill section.

"Super Regeneration…"

Her heart sped up.If this skill really worked like it said—

Her hand went up to her eyepatch… and then to her prosthetic arm.

She was used to it by now…but who wouldn't want their body back to normal?

Seeing her expression, Edgar knew exactly what she was thinking.

"It should work. Go ahead and try."

"Mm."

Najenda nodded and focused on activating the skill.

Hiss…

She sucked in a sharp breath—her old wounds actually tore open.

And then, a wave of itching spread from her arm and eye socket.

Clang!

Her prosthetic arm hit the ground.Flesh writhed and squirmed…and in the next second, a brand-new arm extended out.

"It really… worked."

Najenda tore off her eyepatch, tears glimmering faintly in her restored eye.

Not even in her dreams had she thought she'd get her body back.

Becoming a demon… really had been the right choice.

Poke, poke.

Leone, standing beside her, jabbed at Najenda's new arm.

"It's really an arm… that's insane."

She muttered under her breath, then asked:

"So… how does it feel to be a demon?"

"Honestly? Pretty great."

"I see…"

Leone nodded thoughtfully, then hopped in front of Edgar.

"Mr. Edgar, didn't you just ask me to become one of your followers too?"

"Did I?" Edgar scratched his cheek, feigning confusion."I don't remember that."

Leone rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around his.

Immediately, Edgar felt a wave of… well, pressure.

Yep—his guess earlier was right. This one was at least a D-rank powerhouse.

Leone swayed his arm playfully.

"Mr. Edgar, I admit I was wrong earlier~ Can't you just forgive me?"

Akame: "…"Najenda: "…"

Where's your dignity?Didn't you just threaten to mess him up a moment ago?

"Master, just let her."

Akame's tone was pleading.

"Yeah, Leone knows she was wrong. Give her the chance."

Najenda chimed in too.Truth be told, they both wanted Leone to join them as a demon—

After all, she was a trusted Night Raid comrade. With her on board, reforming the Empire would be much easier.

And let's be honest—becoming a demon had too many benefits.Other than having to serve a master,it was pure upside.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They didn't want Leone to miss it.

"Mr. Edgar, pleeeease…"

Leone looked up at him pitifully, hugging his arm tighter.

Heh… this woman gets me.

Feeling that soft yet undeniable pressure, Edgar gave her a meaningful look.

"Well, since my two followers are vouching for you… fine."

"Thank you, Master!"

The way she switched to calling him "Master" instantly—smooth move.

Edgar smirked and extended his index finger.

Before he could say anything, Leone had already pulled off her top and puffed out her chest.

Najenda's forehead twitched.

"Can you not act so cheap?"

Sure, she knew Leone was bold…but this was pushing it.

"Heh, it's not like he hasn't seen it before."

Leone shrugged it off, then asked with a grin:

"Master, besides red, what color do you think would suit me?"

She looked ready to change right then and there.

"I think you'd look better wearing nothing."

Edgar said it straight-faced.

Leone froze, her skin turning pink.

For all her talk, she was still a virgin maiden at heart.

Flirting was one thing—but going all the way? That was a different story.

Tch. So he's just a smooth talker.

Edgar smirked, and golden blood welled up on his fingertip.

"Alright—let's begin."

"Okay."

Leone took a deep breath and puffed out her chest again.

Without hesitation, Edgar let a drop of his blood fall—

and the ritual began.

"..."
