Chapter 8 - Chapter 08 - Try Not To Touch His Dark Side....

Anna, who had enough money to buy things, bought several books on white magic and a complete book on potions to learn and perhaps become a potions master in the future. She bought a simple trunk with a shelf to store her books and her collection. She was so happy about it that she went from store to store buying what she could and trying to save as much as possible so that her money would last.

At lunchtime, she went to Ned's tavern for lunch.

— I think it's time to go back, — She said to herself, because as much as she wanted to go shopping more, she had to think about the future, because if she found something interesting and didn't have the money for it, she would regret her wastefulness.

She touched the small trunk that hung from her left wrist like a bracelet. For now, she had enough books to learn magic and more about the magical world. Happier, she said goodbye to Ned and left for the orphanage while singing.

No matter how many times you told me you wanted to leave

No matter how many breaths you took, you still couldn't breathe

No matter how many nights you lie awake with the sound of the poisoned rain

Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?

As the days go by, the nights are ablaze.

Tell me, would you kill to save a life?

Tell me, would you kill me to prove you're right?

Destroy, destroy, burn, let everything burn.

This hurricane is chasing us all underground.

She sang like this until she arrived. That song was one of her favorites in her old world, and she even played it over and over on her music player. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist anymore, so she can only hear it in her mind.

— I thought you'd be back later, — Said Refugio, who saw her from the room where she was playing with the youngest children at the orphanage.

— I was going to, but I got bored, — She replied casually.

— Did you have lunch?

— I did! — She replied as she climbed the stairs.

Upon entering her room, she changed into more comfortable clothes and took off her sweaty outfit. She lay down on her bed and took a book of basic spells for beginners out of her trunk, but without a wand, it would be more difficult, so she would first have to learn nonverbal magic.

.

At Hogwarts, the students walked through the hallways to their next class. Tom could be seen walking among three children his age who were well known for their family lineages.

— I hate potions, — Avery complained resentfully about the subject. —That subject and I don't get along at all, — He pointed out.

— You don't get along with any subject, Avery, — Walburga countered his constant complaining about every class. — The day you stop complaining about it, I'll cut my hair, — She bet her beloved hair.

— When that day comes, I hope you keep your word, dear — He said with a playful smile and winked at the poor girl, who shivered.

— Do it again and I'll scratch your eyes out — Se said, her skin crawling at her friend's action.

— Stop fighting, both of you — Abraxas stopped them, always the mediator between this pair. Tom let out an amused laugh.

— Sometimes I wonder if they're friends — Tom said amusedly.

— Not at all! // We're friends, — They both said.

— You know, dear, it hurts me when you say that, — Avery said hurtfully, dramatizing Black's denial. She, on the other hand, snorted and ignored him.

— We should hurry to potions class, — Tom reminded them kindly.

— That professor is fond of you because you're the best and maybe the next potions master, — Wabulgar commented grumpily, just imagining Professor Slughorn kissing Tom's shoes, which he would do if he could.

Everyone at Hogwarts recognized Tom Riddle as an unparalleled genius, which is why there were sometimes too many girls declaring their love for the Slytherin.

— I don't think I am a potions master. I may be good at the subject, but not as a master, — Added Tom, dismissing any idea of being a potions master.

The four of them entered the classroom, which had only a few students. This class was with Ravenclaw, whom Tom liked because they were intelligent, creative, and wise, something they had in common with Slytherin, except that the snakes were very cunning and calculating in every step they took, without letting their emotions influence them.

They were good allies...

.

Two months later...

Anna left her room to breathe fresh, clean air. Her room was a complete mess. For two months, she had been locked in her room practicing nonverbal magic, and in some cases, her magic got out of control, causing small explosions that left her disheveled.

Of course, to be locked up for two whole months, safe from any dirty tricks, she kept all her brother's important things in the trunk, leaving that room empty so that no one would touch anything of her brother's and to protect her precious treasure. She had to give herself credit for that, because those kids who hated her so much went to Tom's room to destroy some things, but found nothing.

Her stomach growled for food, so she went down to the dining room to have some breakfast. Her hair was messy, her eyes looked like pandas from not sleeping well, and she was a little thinner and paler, giving the impression of being mistreated.

— Feeding you is a waste of resources, — One of the caregivers said sharply.

Anna turned a deaf ear as she ate her meal. Since this woman was here serving, it meant that Sister Refugio had gone out to buy supplies and stock up until next year. Realizing that December was just around the corner, she was happy. Tom would soon be coming home for the holidays. She smiled with excitement at the thought of soon seeing her brother's figure crossing the threshold of the door.

Now that she could do magic thanks to the large number of white magic books she had bought, she would take a break so that when her brother came, he wouldn't see her looking so deplorable. During that time, she never forgot to send letters. That was her only consolation, and sometimes they talked for so long that she felt sorry for OZ, but he seemed happy to be doing his job.

— She's a freak... a witch... don't go near her, — The whispers among them made Anna, who was not sleeping well, angry.

— If you don't shut up, I will make you, — She threatened, and an invisible force pressed down on them and made them all fall silent.

A boy of about 15 and a girl of about 13 stared at Anna with fixed eyes, both sweating from the pressure she exerted.

— Is it her? — Asked the younger girl with a tense jaw and hatred in her eyes.

— It must be her, don't act recklessly — Advised the older boy.

The two appeared to be siblings, as they were almost identical but of different ages. At that moment, an owl flew in through the window and landed next to Anna with a letter.

— Come, OZ, — She called with a cold expression, showing no emotion, and no one could guess what she was thinking. OZ obediently flew to her shoulder, and the two left for her room.

On the way to her room, someone opened a particular door, causing the quiet atmosphere to become heavy. With quick steps, she opened the door, and the boy came out and fell to the floor in fear.

— Hahahaha! — She laughed with a twisted expression. — So you think you can use my brother's room without my permission? — Her dangerous words made the boy wet himself. — Why am I not surprised, Mark? — She called out to the boy who had wet his pants.

Mark had always been jealous of Tom for being handsome and intelligent, so much so that he always teased him and knew that they could do things that no one else could explain. But this time, taking over the room in the absence of its owner and in front of his younger sister, who had given up and locked herself in her room.

The smell of urine made her wrinkle her nose in disgust. Her anger exploded so much that the boy began to struggle for oxygen, and an invisible force squeezed his neck, suffocating him. Anna, at this point, had not a shred of compassion.

— ANNA LYRA RIDDLE GAUNT! — The shout of warning made her release the boy, who had already passed out from lack of oxygen. — You shouldn't have done that, Anna! — Refugio scolded her, arriving just in time before a tragedy occurred.

— I hope you get your junk out of my brother's room by the time I wake up. I want everything done. — Her ruthless eyes looked at Mark as if he were dead to her.

The other children who were there moved aside to let her pass and even fell silent so that her fury would not fall on them.

When she entered his room, her anger had not subsided, but remembering her brother's letter improved her mood a little. She looked at his room, which was in chaos, and with a single wave of her hand, everything returned to the way it was before it had become a pigsty. She threw herself on his bed and read the letter with a big smile.

To Anna, my dear sister...

Soon, I will be able to come to where you are. In just a few more weeks, I will be able to come for the Christmas holidays and see the New Year together, as we do every year.

I hope you are well there, and if anyone does anything to you, don't be afraid to give them what they deserve. I, your brother, am here to support you, and even though I am far away, it does not mean that you are unprotected.

I am doing well at Hogwarts as always, and Abraxas sends his regards....

Take care and wait for my return...

Sincerely, Tom M. Riddle G.

She smiled happily just imagining her brother soon by her side. Cheered up, she got up and began to write her letter and her complaints. They had promised each other not to hide anything, so she also confessed her trip to Diagon Alley, which resulted in a letter full of scolding for not thinking about her safety.

Now feeling more liberated, she sent her letter, not forgetting to give OZ a treat for his good work. She kept the letter in her trunk, where she kept the rest, along with her brother's things. That guy dared to invade her territory, and how she wanted to curse him, but unfortunately, she didn't have a book of dark magic at hand, otherwise...

Her imagination ran wild with a thousand ways to torture the boy, so she fell asleep, exhausted from so many sleepless nights.

.

At Hogwarts...

Tom was having breakfast in the Great Hall. His new classmates were now his friends. Walburga, as always, stabbed poor Avery with her sharp tongue, and he accepted her words with a sour face, although to Tom, these two were exchanging double entendres.

— Behave like the purebloods you are, — Abraxas, who was sitting next to Tom, scolded them. — Tomorrow you won't be sitting together anywhere.— They fought all the time, but they always sat together, as they were now, sitting across from each other.

When breakfast was over, several owls flew in carrying letters. One in particular fell in front of Tom, who picked it up but didn't show much enthusiasm when he saw it, as it appeared to be from someone else.

— A confession letter? — Avery smiled slyly at Tom, but he looked around until he saw a trio of girls talking and looking at him. Now knowing the recipient, he got up and went to the badger table (Hufflepuff). — I've lost count of how many times he's done this, — Avery commented as he watched him hand over the unopened letter and say the same words: —I'm sorry, but I don't feel the same way about you. — He never opens a single letter he receives from girls.

When Tom returned to his seat, his expression was normal, as if rejecting confessions was nothing.

— I'm surprised by your charisma, — Avery said mockingly. — If the letters keep coming like this, you won't even have time to reject them all at once. — His brown eyes focused on an owl flying in their direction, and the letter fell in front of Tom. — Another one that will soon be rejected, — He stated as a matter of fact.

— I don't think so, — Contradicted Abraxas, knowing well the mark that his sister sent, always with a maple leaf drawn on the envelope with the initials A.L.R.G.

Tom slowly opened the letter and began to read it, leaving Avery unable to refute him.

To my brother Tom...

I'm furious today. Mark dared to use your room right in front of me. At that moment, I almost killed him, but Sister Refugio arrived.

It's unfair, brother. It's clear that you'll be back soon and that you still live in this orphanage, but they let someone else take your room. It's clear that they don't want us here, and at the first sign of our absence, they'll get rid of anything that indicates our presence.

Just because I was locked up for two months learning magic, they already gave me up for dead and even shower me with insults just because you're not here. Right now is when I most want to go to the dark alley and get a book of spells and curse them for touching what isn't theirs.

In any case, I'm excited because you'll be back soon, even if it's only for a few days. It's better than nothing, since it won't be until after your first school year ends. I'll be waiting for you at the entrance to the orphanage so that when you open that door, I'll be the first thing you see.

Sincerely, Anna L. Riddle G.

P.S.: Say hello to Abraxas for me and take care of yourself....

His blue eyes darkened. Well, it seems that when he returns, he will have to settle the score with those who dared to bother his sister, especially Mark, who dared to enter his room...

The three fell silent when they saw his cold expression. Tom may have acted cheerful and sometimes like a true leader, but when you touched his dark side, he was very bloodthirsty and had no compassion, like the time a Slytherin who envied him took his most prized book and destroyed it without him noticing. When he returned and saw that, a powerful spell was unleashed, and he found the culprit just to make him suffer for it.

Abraxas knew that anything related to his sister meant you had to be careful not to say anything bad about her or touch the gifts she sent him without his permission. And apparently someone did...
