Chapter 163: Because He Is Teacher Lu
Celadon City, Kanto Region.
An Officer Jenny with a slightly shorter-than-regulation skirt received the simulated training order and immediately got excited. "Will Teacher Lu be coming too?"
The Chief Inspector coughed. "We sent him an invitation, but he hasn't responded yet…"
"If Teacher Lu can come, this drill is sure to be a great success!" Officer Jenny said with a smile.
Due to Lance's proposal, the Beat Up tactics had been promoted in several trial locations, and Teacher Lu's prestige among the Jennys continued to rise. Not to mention, his personal image was outstanding. In the Jenny family group chats, discussions about Teacher Lu were quite frequent…
"So embarrassing~ (/ω\)" Stepping out of the office, Officer Jenny covered her face with both hands. "He may be a little young, but he's really handsome… Not entirely impossible…"
"Captain! The diagnosis results for Arcanine are out!"
Officer Jenny immediately composed herself, nodded to the approaching officer, and said, "Understood, I'm on my way."
The operation to eradicate the poaching syndicate was a great success. However, many officers and Pokémon were severely injured. Taking a deep breath, Officer Jenny headed to the Pokémon Center to check on the wounded Arcanine.
In the spacious open area of the Pokémon Center, an Arcanine that looked like a feral beast, its eyes bloodshot, refused to let anyone approach.
Nurse Joy walked over, holding a round, sleeping Growlithe in her arms. She took off her mask and sighed. "The external wounds have mostly healed. The real issue is psychological…"
Officer Jenny took the sleeping Growlithe into her arms. "Psychological?"
Glancing at the struggling Arcanine, Nurse Joy explained: "This is severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—PTSD. It's common among war veterans, but Pokémon can suffer from it too." She sighed. "Its trainer is still in critical condition… The brutal battle may have left a deep psychological scar."
"Is there no other treatment?" Jenny asked.
"It's resisting treatment aggressively, and even common medications aren't working. Chansey got bitten just trying to help…" Frowning, Nurse Joy continued, "One effective method for PTSD is exposure therapy—recreating the scene to help it process and overcome its fear. The police training drill could be a good opportunity… It should be ready soon, right?"
"We invited Teacher Lu from Modu, but he hasn't responded yet…" Jenny muttered.
"That doesn't matter," Nurse Joy said with a gentle smile. "Because he is Teacher Lu."
"If he understands the situation, he'll come, no matter how far."
"Because he is Teacher Lu…" Jenny repeated the words under her breath, stroking the Growlithe in her arms and forcing a smile. "Let's hope your mother recovers soon, little one…"
The round little Growlithe drooled in its sleep, lost in a sweet dream.
The letter was sent from the Celadon City Police Department. It was an invitation for the founder of the Beat Up tactics to provide guidance for a three-day drill. The offered payment was 100,000 Pokédollars and a battle technique manual from the police archives.
Lu Ye's expression turned odd. "If you hadn't mentioned the battle manual, I might've ignored this… But now that you did, I have no reason not to go."
However, as he continued reading, his expression grew more serious. The letter briefly described Arcanine's condition and its trainer's final wish. The officer, now lying in intensive care, had spoken his last conscious words: "I need to make it to the drill… I want Teacher Lu's autograph."
Lu Ye chuckled helplessly. "So, I'm famous in Kanto now too?"
Sitting cross-legged on the couch and stroking his Sylveon, he couldn't help but feel moved. It was the love for Pokémon that brought together like-minded people, all drawn to his ideals. A simple game stream could change someone's life. Like this brave officer. Like the struggling Team Rocket members. Like countless trainers chasing their dreams.
Perhaps, this was the true meaning of "Teacher Lu."
Rubbing his temples, Lu Ye sighed. "Looks like I have no choice but to go."
After a moment of thought, he booked a flight to Kanto and started packing.
"Gengarrr!" Haunter cheered, excited for another trip.
"We're going for work this time," Lu Ye muttered, then suddenly snapped, "Squirtle! Why are you bringing the fish tank again?!"
Squirtle set the fish tank down, scratched its head, and gave an awkward grin.
Opening the chat group, Lu Ye sent a message to Erika.
Teacher Lu: @Erika, are you free this Sunday?
Erika: Yes, yes! How can I help, Teacher Lu?
Lu Ye briefly explained Arcanine's condition and the training drill.
Teacher Lu: With Yellow's ability, we should be able to ease Arcanine's pain.
Erika nodded firmly. "Understood! Leave it to me! I will arrange accommodations for both of you. Consider it my treat."
"Teacher Lu is coming to Kanto?" Red scratched his head regretfully. "What a shame… I have training scheduled, so I won't get to battle him…"
Lu Ye shuddered and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. That was close—almost got steamrolled by Boss Red!
Sunday, September 6th.
At dawn, Lu Ye boarded a plane to Kanto with his three Pokémon. This was his first time traveling outside of Donghuang since his transmigration, and he couldn't help but feel a little excited.
The plane landed in Celadon City's airport. A woman in a traditional kimono greeted him with a gentle smile. "Teacher Lu."
Beside her, a blonde-haired girl with a high ponytail smiled brightly. "Welcome to Kanto!"
This was Erika, the Celadon City Gym Leader, and Yellow of Viridian Forest. On Yellow's shoulder sat a Pikachu with a flower on its head, curiously eyeing Lu Ye.
"Gengarrr!" Haunter grinned wickedly at the Pikachu, making it immediately hide behind Yellow.
"It's okay, Chuchu," Yellow reassured with a soft smile. "Teacher Lu and Haunter are trustworthy!"
The Pikachu, Chuchu, peeked out hesitantly but quickly ducked back again.
"It's their first meeting, after all," Erika chuckled, patting the dejected Haunter. "You'll get used to it!"
"Gengarrr…" Haunter awkwardly scratched its head.
Lu Ye's expression turned odd. Did you just try to scare Red's Pikachu's wife?! You truly are fearless!
"Anyway… Let's go check on Arcanine's condition," Lu Ye coughed. "Officer Jenny should be waiting at the Pokémon Center."
"I shall lead the way," Erika said with a polite bow.
Celadon City had an exceptionally high green coverage rate, making it one of Kanto's largest cities. It was home to Kanto's largest department store and the renowned Celadon University. Near the Pokémon Center, vibrant flowerbeds filled the air with a sweet fragrance.
Officer Jenny was waiting in the lobby. Upon seeing Lu Ye and the others, she immediately saluted. "Teacher Lu… You're here!" Noticing the trainers accompanying Lu Ye, she was momentarily stunned. Not surprising for Teacher Lu—he even managed to bring a Gym Leader!
Lu Ye nodded. "So… what exactly am I supposed to do in this drill?"
"Well…" Jenny explained the specifics. "If possible, we'd like you to play the villain." She hesitated. "Since Arcanine is too familiar with the officers… Besides, if you give these officers a lesson, they're sure to benefit greatly!"
Lu Ye paused, his expression turning strange. A former Team Rocket executive… teaching law enforcement… Something feels terribly wrong about this.
"I understand," Lu Ye coughed. "So, I play the villain, and we help Arcanine overcome its trauma?"
"Exactly!" Jenny nodded earnestly. "We're counting on you!"
Erika and Yellow exchanged glances, both blinking at the same time. Having Teacher Lu play the villain… This might just make Arcanine's PTSD worse!
"Can I bring in some extra help?" Lu Ye asked.
"Of course!"
Lu Ye pondered. This villain role didn't suit someone as righteous as him. It was time to call in the real villains—Team Rocket's classic trio!
