Chapter 257 - 247

To be honest, there was another reason why Yhwach did not allow Lloyd to take action.

Throughout the entire battle between Lloyd and Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, from start to finish, Lloyd had only dodged, swung his sword, and used Sanctuary Praise. The reason was simple-Lloyd had merely imitated Yhwach's memory, spirit, and psychology. These were spiritual characteristics; he could not replicate Yhwach's true power.

In the end, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni's death was dictated by the plot itself.

"Let's go, Haschwalth," Yhwach said as he turned to leave.

"Yes," Haschwalth replied with calm obedience.

However, just as Yhwach began to walk away, an old but resilient hand grasped the edge of his cloak.

It was the remaining upper body of Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, lying amid the debris, his last surviving hand clutching stubbornly.

"You won't even allow yourself to die in peace…?" Yhwach said evenly. Without hesitation, he brought down the Sword of Spirit, severing Yamamoto's arm completely.

He then stepped on the old Captain's bald head and said flatly, "How pathetic."

"Yamamoto Shigekuni… what a foolish man."

His tone carried no mockery-only cold judgment.

"Do you know why you're not among the five special threats I designated? You'll probably die without ever realizing the reason."

"Why didn't you heal your left arm? You just had to give that human girl the order and she could have done it."

"Why didn't you?"

"I understand-you didn't wish to involve humans."

"Even now, you remain burdened by responsibility for both the Soul Society and the Human World."

"But you've lost."

"You've grown weaker, Yamamoto Shigekuni. You're not the man you once were."

"The Gotei 13 that you founded was once nothing less than a corps of assassins that killed for the Gotei's name alone."

"It was feared for good reason."

"And you, Yamamoto Shigekuni-its Commander-General-were the embodiment of that terror."

"In those days, to defeat the enemy, you would sacrifice anything and anyone, even your own subordinates."

"But after we Quincies were annihilated, everything changed."

"You found peace and stability… and the moment you did, you found compassion as well."

"For your so-called justice and the glory of Soul Society, you became hesitant-a weak man bound by sentiment."

"You wouldn't understand it even as you die, so I'll tell you now."

"From this moment, the Soul Society is doomed to destruction."

"The Gotei 13 you knew already died alongside us… one thousand years ago."

Yhwach drew back, raising his hand. Arrows of light converged on his fingertips.

With one sweeping motion-boom!-a massive flash of light erupted.

Unohana Retsu, Komamura Sajin, Hirako Shinji, and Hitsugaya Tōshirō immediately felt the surge of reiatsu across Seireitei.

Everything before them was reduced to ash. The body of Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni vanished completely.

"Notify the Sternritter," Yhwach commanded calmly. "Erase Soul Society entirely."

At once, the Sternritter placed their palms onto the ground.

Dark energy surged outward from their hands. The shadows stretched along the ground, creeping up the nearest walls and expanding until they formed black crosses in the sky.

From those crosses, white-uniformed soldiers began leaping into Soul Society one after another.

"Holy soldiers, march forward."

Their voices resonated across the battlefield.

Watching the enemy's forces pour forth, several Gotei 13 soldiers shouted in alarm.

"W–What is this!?"

"They're just foot soldiers of the enemy-don't panic!"

Though they tried to sound confident, their words were broken apart by screams and bursts of steel.

All around them came the sounds of ahh! and thud!-the rhythm of the Quincies' slaughter.

Even if these holy soldiers were not particularly strong, their sheer numbers overwhelmed the Shinigami ranks, accelerating the fall of Seireitei.

Ahead of Yhwach, the buildings crumbled into dust and flame.

"It's over," he said calmly.

"The Gotei 13 has been eradicated. The Zero Division will be forced to act soon."

"We'll end them once they appear-"

His words stopped abruptly when his gaze lifted. In the distant sky, space itself rippled open into a black rift, swirling with chaotic reiryoku.

"What is that?" Yhwach asked softly.

---

Earlier, in the 12th Division, alarms echoed throughout the barracks.

Several Shinigami stood clustered around walls of glowing blue screens that displayed flickering data and maps of Soul Society. One by one, the red zones expanded-the situation was deteriorating at frightening speed.

Standing before the monitors, Kurotsuchi Nemu frowned.

"Contact Captain Yuta," she ordered.

"Yes, ma'am!" Ajin replied, immediately moving to follow her instructions.

---

Beep. Beep.

From within Hideki Yuta's pocket, his denreishinki chimed.

He took it out and pressed the receiver. A composed female mechanical tone spoke through the communicator.

"Lord Yuta, please return to Seireitei immediately. The situation has grown dire."

"Heh… understood," Yuta replied with his usual calm tone, sounding almost amused.

Ahead of him, Quilge Opie unleashed continuous volleys of arrows. Each attack exploded mere meters before reaching Yuta, deflected by invisible energy long before impact.

Through the communicator, Nemu could hear the tremors of battle-the distant blasts echoing through the channel.

Her expression tightened slightly.

"Captain, where are you right now?" she asked.

"I'm in Hueco Mundo," Yuta answered casually. "Playing with one of the Sternritter."

"Please refrain from treating this lightly, Lord Yuta," Nemu said in her impassive mechanical monotone. "Had you taken me with you to the Human World, I could have provided support and served as your shield in the event of danger. Compared to your life, mine has no value."

Yuta smiled faintly at her words. "I don't think I'll be needing you to stand in front of me just now."

He ended the transmission with one click and slipped the device away.

Raising his gaze toward Quilge, his eyes regained their usual composure.

"Well," he said evenly, "it looks like this little game is over."

Quilge's expression darkened.

"Over? You think you decide when this ends?" he snapped. "How arrogant!"

Yet behind his anger, sweat ran down his temples.

Why could he not even touch his opponent-not once-despite fully activating his Quincy: Vollständig and the power-enhancing Blut Arterie?

It wasn't that his attack power lacked strength. If his arrows could just connect, he could at least measure whose energy was superior.

However, every arrow that left his bow was diverted-deflected by some invisible force surrounding the man in front of him.

What ability was this?

Yuta's tone was calm, nearly indifferent.

"You must be wondering," he said lightly, "how I'm deflecting your arrows."

He extended his hand slightly, palm facing upward.

"Have you ever heard of vectors?"
