Chapter 9 - 9

Rias opened her eyes. The room was dark, the pale light of the moon was shining through the curtains in the window. There was a feeling that something bad was approaching.

Looking around, the scarlet-haired princess did not see her servant nearby. A quiet roar was heard from the dark corner of the room. Looking closely, Rias made out the silhouette of a brown-haired man on the floor who was convulsing painfully.

The body was covered in an unknown pulsating, black substance similar to resin, which was stuck to the wall in pieces like a web.

Every now and then, armor was chaotically formed on the dragon's body, which a moment later immediately crumbled into particles. Each subsequent formation dissolved weaker and weaker and left pieces of smoldering armour on Issei's body that glowed faintly in the semi-darkness of the room.

A painful crunch tore through the air. From Issei's back, with a crack, emerged two terrible, crooked, angular wings, a mixture of carapace and pulsating black resin.

"Issei, are you okay?" The mixture of armour and resin twitched, looking at the one sitting on the bed. Rias shuddered.

The helmet of the armor cracked near the mouth and formed two rows of sharp teeth. A black substance was dripping from the mouth onto the floor.

The black stones in the form of the eyes glinted in the moonlight. The metal around the right eye cracked and crumbled, revealing a view of hardened black resin covered in small cracks and dotted with holes from which the same black muck was flowing.

The dragon slowly rose to its paws and began to walk towards Rias, who was sitting on the bed. The substance glued to the walls stretched and burst with a crack.

The scraps along with the angular wings dragged along the floor, creating a nasty grinding sound. Each step echoed with the crunch of metal and continued to cover it with cracks.

Approaching the bed, the Dragon raised itself up and climbed onto the bed with its front paws. Rias involuntarily moved back. Issei's appearance made her shiver. "Issei, what... is wrong with you? Are you okay?"

Hyoudou approached Rias. There were a couple of centimeters between the girl's face and the face of the dragon. As soon as the grinding stopped, Rias began to hear a barely audible whisper.

The words could not be made out. But having distinguished two words, Rias noticeably darkened. The Dragon released a wave of frosty steam, so cold that frost formed on the girl's eyelashes. The door to the room swung open and the rest of the Gremory family ran in.

The Dragon sharply turned its head towards the door, after which it directed its gaze at the window and, tearing off from its place, knocked it out and flew out into the street. Rias jumped to the window, watching the dragon rushing towards the academy.

"President, what happened here? What happened to Issei-san?" Asia asked worriedly.

"I don't know myself. Out of the blue, he turned into... a monster?"

"What?" The petite blonde folded her hands in prayer, looking out the window. Rias thought about what just happened, and the words Hyoudou said right before he broke the window popped into her head. "R..ez….En…..d…"

**************************

Rez and his henchmen were walking back from the bar, laughing loudly on the way. The road home passed next to the academy. Suddenly Rez stood rooted to the spot, staring at the floor.

"Boss, what's wrong?"

"Quiet. Don't you feel anything?"

"What are you talking about? Have you had too much to drink by any chance?"

"You idiots, we've all had enough. But I'm hallucinating, or maybe I feel a thirst for murder. And such a thirst that it seems like an entire army is rushing here."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Shut up, I'm talking, listen up!"

The whole company shut up, looking around. The night air was filled with a barely audible hum, gradually approaching Griffon's location. Rez glanced in the direction from which a terrifying aura comparable to that of a monster was approaching.

A barely distinguishable dot against the night sky was approaching at such a speed that the air was buzzing.

"What the hell!!!Move AWAY!!!!". Rez jumped to the side, grabbing one of his acquaintances, a moment before the monster would have finished him off by cutting off his head. Rising to his feet, Rez thought about what the hell was going on.

The cloud of dust gradually settled and a rather long tail with blood dripping from it flashed. A trickle of blood flowed from the blue-eyed man's forehead.

"You bastard, you still hit me. Who are you and what do you want?"

The dragon drilled Griffon with his gaze. The air was filled with a thirst for blood so concentrated that it seemed you could cut it with a knife. The dragon trembled with rage and the desire to rip the red-haired guy's head off.

At this moment, a red-haired girl with blue eyes appeared from around the corner. "Issei, stop."

.....

The mixture of armour and resin froze in place, showing no signs of movement.

"Issei, stop. Come back to me, please." The armour-resin hybrid trembled from the raging hurricane of rage that was endlessly swarming in its soul. "Issei, stop. You need to calm down."

"Hey, what's wrong with this monster?"

"SHUT UP! Shut up and don't make a sound unless you want to lose your life right where you stand."

"What?" The alcohol he'd drunk was still pounding in Rez's head, preventing him from thinking rationally.

"I said shut up."

"Come on, girl, why are you so angry? I just want to be friendly." Rez staggered a few steps towards Rias. Rias's face instantly changed. Air whistled behind Rez.

The redhead dodged an instant before sharp claws would have turned his head into a salad. Twisting and standing up to his full height, Griffon grinned. "Oh oh oh, our little dragon is angry. Does someone really want to take my life? I could smell your murderous intent a mile away. Well, take a chance. Let's see what you can do."

The dragon stood over Rias, glaring at the red-haired boy. Rez got into a fighting stance, ready to fight. The dragon's mistress tried to calm her servant, but nothing worked.

Hyodo rushed forward, disappearing from sight and simultaneously creating an air vortex. Rez blocked the tail's attack and moved back a few meters, but remained on his feet. "So that's it. Honestly, I thought it would be stronger. Is that all you can do?"

Hyodo kept his eyes on Rez. His gaze showed a desire to tear him to pieces. His cracked muzzle was "bleeding" black resin. Black liquid was also flowing from his body, dripping onto the floor and evaporating into a black mist. The broken black wings that had been dragging along the ground all this time began to creak, changing shape.

A painful crunch was heard throughout the street. As soon as the crunching stopped, the dragon flapped its wings and slammed its jaw shut, causing the muzzle to crack even more with a characteristic sound.

"Issei! Please... stop."

Opening its mouth, the dragon roared with such force that the asphalt cracked. When the roar died down, Issei stared at Rez, devouring the latter with his gaze. The cracked burgundy dragon, clawing at the ground and flapping its wings, tore off and began to strike blow after blow like a wild beast.

Griffon's arms did not have time to recover from the wounds they had received. Retreating and constantly moving were of no use. A little more and the defense would have fallen.

Rez seized the moment and hit the dragon in response, causing it to fly back. Having regained his concentration, Hyodo opened his mouth and roared, starting to accumulate a charge.

Rias realized this too late. As soon as the accumulation was complete, Issei fired an energy volley at Griffon, then another and another. A machine gun burst of energy shells rushed towards the enemy. The thunderous roar of explosions tore through the air. As soon as the burst ended, Hyodo began to examine the dust cloud.

Thick black steam was pouring out of the red-hot mouth. As soon as the dust cloud dissipated, a shabby red-haired guy appeared before the Gremory family. The suit in the area of the arms was torn and rotted.

There were several noticeable wounds and abrasions on his arms. "Wow, I got beat up, I haven't felt the danger of dying in a long time. Hey, monster. Any other tricks? Or is that all?"

The dragon began to walk slowly towards Griffon. Flashes of flame gradually began to flash through the black smoke. When the fire completely replaced the smoke, Hyodo rushed towards his opponent. Rez prepared for battle, but there was no attack. A couple of meters before the red-haired guy, the dragon stopped dead in its tracks.

The flame in the mouth went out, leaving no smoke behind. Behind the dragon, rare sobs were clearly audible. The dragon turned back, breaking the armor even more.

A fuse shot in his mind. The scarlet-haired princess of destruction was crying. Tears flowed down her cheeks and dripped onto the ground, creating an echo in the dragon's head. Turning around on the spot, Hyodo walked towards his mistress.

"Hey, what's going on? Are we not going to fight anymore?" Issei, without looking, sent Rez flying with a blow from his massive tail. Griffon's body crashed into the wall at full speed.

Hyodo continued walking towards the crying red-haired girl. The situation was heating up. The Gremory family stood in front of Rias, since there was no complete confidence in his actions. However, what happened next made everyone doubt the need to protect Rias.

The burgundy armour fell off in pieces from the dragon's stomping. The jets of black resin gradually subsided, and cracks began to spread from the holes in the solidified substance.

The resin began to crumble along with the armour. With each step, larger and larger pieces fell to the floor. The crumbling armour along with the resin from the dragon's face presented the Gremory family with brown pupils with predatory dragon slits.

They parted to make way for Issei to reach Rias. When Issei approached his mistress, the last piece of armour fell from him and crumbled into particles.

Rias raised her tear-stained eyes. Issei calmly examined his mistress's face. The dragon helped her stand up and began to wipe the wet streams on her cheeks and the tears that had appeared in her eyes, completely ignoring what was happening around her.

"Issei? Are you okay?" A wave of warm air hit her face.

Once all the tears were wiped away, Hyoudou picked Rias up, causing her to blush. "Issei, what's wrong?"

Two massive wings came out of the dragon's back with a crash. Flapping them, Issei instantly found himself several hundred meters above the ground.

The night city was covered in a web of glowing lamp posts and cars. Rias looked at the city for a few seconds, then turned her gaze to Issei. The girl's heart sank. The dragon's appearance. His whole appearance showed sadness.

"Issei?" The brown-haired man turned his gaze to his mistress. It was as if something had torn in Rias's soul. Pure, concentrated melancholy was visible in the dragon's gaze.

"What happened?" Without answering, Hyoudou pressed Rias's head to his chest. Gremory was surprised and blushed even more. Issei began to stroke her head like a little girl and began to slowly descend. Having fallen to the ground, Hyodo walked towards home holding Rias in his arms.

Akeno used magic and, having fixed the surroundings, followed Issei. The rest of the family also caught up with them and went home.

Rez got up from the ground as soon as he had recovered all his wounds. His minions came to see if everything was okay. "Boss, how are you?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's been a long time since I've been beaten like that." Griffon spat out blood and looked after the Gremory family. "I feel like we'll get along."

On the way home, Akeno kept glancing at Rias and giggling slightly, which made Rias blush even more. "Listen, Rias, why don't you walk by yourself?"

"Shut up... I don't want to disturb Issei... he's already suffered enough tonight... so... I want to spoil him…"

"Really? Then it's probably best not to enter Issei's room until the morning, am I right?"

"Well, shut up."

The rest of the way home, Akeno urged her mistress. Rias asked Issei to come closer to the vice president.

After fulfilling the request, the head of the family hit Akeno on the head with the edge of her palm, which finally made her shut up, but she still giggled into her fist all the way home.

Upon arrival, Issei fell asleep without a second thought. Rias changed her clothes and lay down next to him, instantly falling into his tenacious embrace.

Rias was glad in her heart that Issei had a new emotion, even if it was sadness. Thinking about it, the red-haired girl fell asleep and hoped that the rest of the night would pass without incident.
