Looking at that dark, sticky thing on the ground that was still dripping.
Before the few people could react.
'Boom!'
With a deafening explosion, a burst of fire erupted in the center of the five people.
If it was head-on, they could still withstand the damage from the remote bomb with the big shield.
But at this moment, Wells had his butt facing the remote bomb, while the others were facing it directly.
If it were real life, they would definitely shatter into pieces.
But this is a game after all, no graphic scenes like that, so what showed up was the big shield still standing in place.
Then the five bodies were flung away by the powerful blast.
In the upper right corner of the game screen in front of everyone, kill notifications kept popping up.
One remote bomb, five kills!
"Holy crap! What just happened!?"
"That little black box was a bomb?"
"I'm shocked!"
"What the heck is this? The bomb's power is insane!?"
Ben, Zack, and the others all looked totally confused.
Directly blown away?
Just now, the opponents threw three or four grenades over, causing zero damage or threat.
Directly wiping out all five of them?
Meanwhile, the defenders were all thrilled, clearly not expecting to pull off such a huge turnaround.
Thunder and Rook downstairs rushed to the bomb defuser first, disarming it at the last second.
"It's over, we got wrecked! We might even end up as online jokes!" Ben looked upset.
He originally thought it would be a great show.
The first half followed his plan perfectly.
But he never imagined the end would go sideways.
And sure enough, just as he feared, in the internet cafe's first-floor lobby, many people without seats sat in empty spots to watch and wait.
When this scene showed up on screen, it made tons of players crack up.
"I'm dying laughing! This has to be the first five-kill in Rainbow Six: Siege, right?"
"Haha, it's clearly that BANDIT electro guy's five-kill, but why am I focused on this attacking team?"
"+1! It's just too funny!"
"But this train tactic isn't unbeatable!"
"Of course not! And it's nothing like past FPS games. In Rainbow Six: Siege, gadgets, operator skills, and breaking the environment all affect the fight a lot!"
In the lobby, plenty of FPS fans started chatting.
Even in this simple match, many FPS players already sensed the unique fun in Rainbow Six: Siege.
In old FPS games, it was all about aim, but in Rainbow Six: Siege, they saw way more strategy clashes.
In the game, the defenders, led by BANDIT, turned things around and won, boosting their spirits.
At the same time, they picked up some basics: the garage walls that can be smashed need reinforcing.
And since they won last round by quietly dropping a remote bomb from upstairs, now they had to watch the upper floor a little.
The attackers didn't have remote explosives, but they had Fuze and grenades.
"Let's tweak our lineup." As the defender team's leader, BANDIT made a suggestion.
It was a casual group play anyway, and after his strong showing before, the others agreed to follow his calls.
Soon, the defender lineup was locked in.
Pulse, the bald guy with sunglasses who scans heartbeats.
BANDIT, the electro guy who dominated last round.
Valkyrie, the one with the black eye device that gives vision.
And a newbie operator picked by default, when the player had no clue what to choose and time ran out.
Players had zero grasp on lineups yet, like what tactics fit defense or attack teams; no standard plays existed.
But not knowing the mechanics or routines didn't mean players lacked clever moves or ideas.
Ben's attacking team stuck to their usual setup.
"Listen up, I think our tactic and lineup are solid; it's just our approach that's off. Let's win this one back!" Ben, playing the role of team motivator, rallied everyone.
Even after getting hit by that remote bomb last round, Ben was sure it was just bad luck.
They got a bit careless, which messed up their response.
This time, with better experience, he believed they could handle it right.
"The opponents reinforced the garage door this time!"
"Hey! Why's my car damaged? It won't move!"
They had some attack experience from before, but on this Chicago House map, the group was still a bit lost.
Either getting turned around, or the car getting shot up, or hit by operator skills.
After the countdown, the round started. Like before, they smashed the outside cameras, big shield and flash shield up front, pushing ahead.
But the garage room wasn't easy to breach this time.
The plaster walls in the big and small garage were all reinforced with metal and wired up.
To get in, they had to use the wooden door on the side.
It matched the train formation well, but Ben, scanning with IQ at the door, hit a snag, since the scan showed two traps right at the entrance.
If the big shield tried to tank them, who knows if it'd kill someone; they still didn't fully get the mechanics.
Shooting the boards to clear wasn't bad, but the issue was Joey's Sledge was the only one with grenades, and this round he brought flashbangs instead.
The rest had no grenades, so they'd have to break the boards and clear with gunfire.
But the tight space made Ben nervous.
After all, not knowing what's inside, the big shield couldn't plant to cover the back while clearing traps, so they might easily lose one to a sneak shot.
"Joey, smash this wall!" Spotting the white wall nearby, Ben's eyes lit up, acting all confident as he gave the order.
Hearing Ben, Joey went quiet for a moment.
"Joey? Joey?" Ben called twice to the frozen Joey.
Without a word, Joey quietly went to the wall, swung his Sledge hammer once, but the wall stayed intact.
"Ahem... Haven't used Sledge much, didn't know the ability. Can't smash this wall, huh?" Ben coughed to brush off the awkwardness.
"What now?" Zack asked.
"No issue, let's go around. Plenty of time left, there must be another way." Ben suggested.
The group activated quiet steps, kept the train formation, headed beside the garage, crossed a courtyard, and soon spotted stairs to the basement.
The path through the stairs to the underground storage was blocked by a barricade.
Ben scanned it, saw no electronic traps inside, then talked tactics with the team.
"Same old plan: big shield and flash shield first and second, hang back a bit, then rush straight in and grab it!"
"But this time, spread out more, and check the ceiling!"
At the door, the group set up quietly, whispering like they were really in it.
But what Ben and the others missed was the pile of broken wooden boards under the barricade.
Like the first round, they messed with it at the start, but once the action kicked in, everyone forgot it was there.
