The fox sighed and walked over to sit beside him.

"...Aren't you going to ask something?"

Sylene didn't look up. "That noble really likes you."

"...That's not a question."

Sylene continued, "If it doesn't bother you to tell... then what actually happened between both of you?"

Mavis sat in silence for a long moment, the weight of his thoughts pulling him inward.

His fingers idly twisted the corner of the blanket, and then, with a deep sigh, he wandered—unsure, anxious, and confused.

"Now, where do I start...?" His voice was soft, almost lost in the quiet of the room, as if he were speaking more to himself than to anyone else. His eyes flickered to the window, but the words seemed to slip from his mouth, shaping the past into something tangible.

He leaned back slightly, his gaze distant. "He and I... we were... lovers before I left the Alistair family."
