Chapter 3 - 003: Invitation Across Worlds

Teyvat.

Springtime in Mondstadt—birds singing, gentle breezes, and the scent of windwheel asters.

On Windrise, a red-dressed little girl dashed toward Starfell Lake, arms out like an airplane.

She looked six or seven, with twin brown ponytails, a red beret, and an adorable face.

It was Klee, the Knights of Favonius' little mascot.

Ever since her mother Alice left, Klee had been entrusted to the knights.

Because she loved fishing with bombs, acting Grand Master Jean had set strict rules for her: set off bombs in town—solitary confinement; hurt someone—Jean visits you; set the forest on fire—Klee is done for.

But even if she got locked up for fishing with bombs, it was worth it—the fish were delicious!

"Starfell Lake is far enough from Mondstadt. The knights won't catch me, right?"

Klee stopped to catch her breath, then excitedly pulled out two bombs and tossed them into the lake.

Boom!!

White waves crashed as the bombs exploded, sending fat fish flying all around Klee.

"Wow!!"

Her eyes sparkled as she jumped in delight.

Just then, a familiar voice called from behind, "Klee, are you fishing with bombs again?!"

A young woman in a tight knight's outfit, wielding a bow, rushed over—Amber, the Knights' only Outrider.

She'd been investigating strange slimes nearby when she heard the explosion.

Seeing Klee, Amber felt a headache coming. Klee was the knights' strongest force, but also their biggest troublemaker.

"Klee, you're in trouble this time!"

Klee shrank back, guilty.

Oh no! If Amber caught her, she'd be locked up for sure—and she hadn't even eaten the fish yet…

As Klee tried to think of an escape, a rainbow vortex suddenly appeared above the lake, shining on her.

Instead of fear, Klee was fascinated by the beautiful, gentle light.

"Amber, I'm going to play!" she called, running into the portal with curiosity.

Amber panicked, but before she could act, the portal vanished as if nothing had happened.

"This is bad!" she muttered, recognizing the power as something entirely foreign.

Klee was gone—things had just gotten complicated!

Amber rushed back to inform the Knights.

Blue Star.

The rainbow vortex spun in Ken's living room.

He heard familiar little footsteps—"la la la…"

If he guessed right, this was… Klee!

He remembered how hard it was to pull Klee from her gacha. Now, it seemed she was coming through.

Sure enough, a little red hat peeked out of the portal—pointy elf ears poking through soft hair.

Ken was overjoyed.

Klee looked even cuter in person than in the game. He wanted to squeeze her cheeks.

Klee looked around curiously, then spotted Ken.

Her eyes widened with surprise. She ran up, hugging his leg and calling out in a childish voice, "Daddy!"

Ken: "???"

He was dumbfounded. Klee calling him daddy right off the bat was…unexpected.

Wasn't she supposed to be curious about where she was and then start a conversation?

"Did you mistake me for someone else?" Ken asked gently.

Klee looked up with teary eyes. "No, I always look at Daddy's photo before bed! See, I'll show you."

She carefully pulled a photo from her backpack.

Ken stared, stunned.

Damn! The man in the photo… was him! Same clothes from that drunken night, even missing the same button.

"Where did you get this?" he asked.

"Mommy gave it to me!" Klee said, pulling out another photo. "This is Mommy!"

Ken glanced at it and almost fainted.
