Chapter 42 - Chapter 042: Captain Jean’s Hips, the Knights’ Soul

"May I address you as Mr. Ken?"

While Ken was lost in thought, Jean's eyes—beautiful like clusters of wisteria—were also quietly sizing him up.

The man before her stood tall with a handsome face.

His black eyes seemed veiled by distant mist, like the Dragonspine's millennia-old snow beyond Mondstadt—deep and crystal clear, carrying an icy chill.

Jean swiftly linked together the recent events in her mind and deduced Ken's identity.

"Indeed, I'm Ken. Master Jean truly is as gentle and lovely as the morning breeze in the woods."

Ken's gaze flicked over the contours beneath Jean's tight knight uniform—the commanding peaks pressing at the fabric and the full, rounded hips—his eyes briefly flashing with appreciation.

As expected.

The wife really is gorgeous.

No wonder there's a popular saying among players in my past life: Master Jean's hips, the Knights' soul.

Her graceful, statuesque figure, paired with a slightly androgynous knight's outfit, only adds an indescribable, restrained allure.

"Master Jean, where are we?" Paimon watched Ken and Jean exchange greetings, baffled.

Lumine's amber eyes rippled slightly.

If the man before them was Mr. Ken, then this meant they were on Blue Star.

"This is Blue Star. Lumine… Paimon, welcome to Blue Star as guests."

Smiling, Ken invited them to sit and poured two cups of tea.

 "So this is Blue Star…"

"Mr. Ken, I've heard you have the power of prophecy. Could you tell me anything about my brother?"

Having once traveled across countless worlds, Lumine wasn't particularly surprised to arrive on Blue Star. After centuries of slumber and hardship, what mattered most to her now was news of her brother.

"Perhaps the game Genshin Impact can give you some answers."

Though the game wasn't fully finished yet, the data packs were complete.

Letting Lumine see these journeys from a god's-eye view would be more convincing than Ken simply telling her.

"A game?"

Paimon drifted around curiously. "What kind of game? And why is it called 'Genshin'? That term only exists in Teyvat… Things on Blue Star are so weird."

Listening to Paimon chirp away, Ken tossed her a banana, successfully plugging her mouth.

"It's complicated to explain, but you'll understand once you see it."

After all… as one of the game's protagonists, Lumine would understand what the material meant the moment she saw it.

"All right, thank you!"

Lumine was eager to learn and quick to pick things up. With Ken's patient, hands-on teaching, she soon learned to use the mouse to operate the computer. She wasn't up to complex operations, but browsing folders was no problem.

"Your homeland has fallen; palaces spanning ten thousand acres have turned to dust.

You were meant to own the world and embrace the heavens.

But, scion of a lost kingdom, do not lament these moments that have passed…"

Reading the inscription on the cover page, Lumine decisively clicked in.

Ken and Jean left the study, giving Lumine and Paimon time to process the material.

"Mr. Ken, thank you again for your help to Mondstadt. Without you, our losses could have been far greater. Once this matter is settled, I'll bring the Knights to help you with the game's voice acting."

In the living room, Jean stood and placed her right hand over her chest, offering Ken a formal knight's salute.

The lofty twin peaks trembled slightly as she bowed, as if awaiting a climber to come chart new territories.

"There's no need to be so polite, Master Jean. Klee is my daughter, and Barbara is my… good friend."

Considering Barbara's wish to keep their relationship secret, Ken didn't spell it out. Besides, the Jean before him was Barbara's older sister.

"You and Lady Alice have indeed raised an exceptional daughter," Jean said with a smile.

Though little Klee could be mischievous at times, one couldn't deny the contributions she'd made to the Knights.

Seeing the man's bearing and thinking of the remarkable Lady Alice, having a daughter like Klee… seemed perfectly natural.

"Klee being under the care of the Knights of Favonius is something both Alice and I are grateful for—especially you, Jean. You must have invested a lot of effort in her."

Arms crossed, Ken smiled.

Jean smiled slightly, just about to reply, when her head suddenly felt heavy and her vision swam…

"I…"

She rubbed her temple, but the dizziness only grew. In the next instant, her vision went black, and her tall, graceful figure collapsed onto the sofa.

Ken: "…"

If he remembered correctly, during Jean's hangout quest, she had fainted from overwork and lack of rest. He hadn't expected her to pass out in front of him now—purely from Knights' business.

Ken was quite fond of Jean as a character.

Born into the ancient Gunnhildr clan, the day the first epic was penned, the Gunnhildrs had already begun guarding Mondstadt.

A long lineage meant, beyond honor, a heavy responsibility.

While other children ran through Mondstadt's streets with pinwheels, the small, straight-backed Jean had already been chosen by her family as the heir to chivalry.

Grueling studies, refined etiquette, powerful swordsmanship, robust training—that was Jean's childhood.

After becoming Acting Grand Master, what little leisure she had was stripped away entirely, her days bound to endless affairs of state.

"Mondstadt really is a city of man-children…"

Ken sighed, bent down, and lifted Jean's delicate body, carrying her slowly toward his bedroom.
