Chapter 4 - Hierarchy

Coincidentally, 'Love Me, Bury Me' was just another fantasy webtoon Serena had binge-read one sleepless night. Full of blood-soaked betrayals, twisted love triangles, and royalty with serious trust issues. Everyone looked like gods and acted like demons. Serena had rolled her eyes, finished it... and forgot about it.

Until she died and woke up inside it.

And worse? She wasn't even the beloved female lead with secret powers or a divine cheat. Nope. She was stuck in the body of Veronica, the infamous villainess who was doomed to be publicly humiliated, betrayed, and fed to a magical beast. Yay.

In this cruel world, society was split into four main brutal classes:

◆ First Class – Draconis (Sovereign Class): Dragons. Immortal rulers with elemental power and terrifying forms. Royalty born from fire and war.

◆ Second Class – Umbra (Nobleblood Class): Demons and vampires. Dark aristocrats who controlled magic, court politics, and sometimes minds.

◆ Third Class – Arcanis (Arcane Class):

Witches and elves. Scholars, healers, and mystics. Respected but rarely trusted.

◆ Fourth Class – Mortalis (Bound Class):

Humans. The lowest class, powerless or nearly so. Oppressed laborers with rare exceptions.

However unknown to everyone. There was a fifth class. Variants- The Outcasts Class. Hybrids. Born from forbidden bloodlines or magical accidents. Feared, hunted, or enslaved.

Evangeline Ravenshire, the heroine, was born with dual magic abilities, a miracle child destined for greatness. The world adored her. Men fell to their knees, literally. The five yandere male leads were all obsessed with her, to the point of madness.

Veronica, on the other hand?

She had zero magic. Not even a spark. She was human garbage in a world where even human toddlers had abilities. Jealous, bitter, and petty, Veronica spent the story tormenting her perfect half-sister. Until the story turned on her and her end came brutally.

Serena scratched her head, utterly speechless. Weren't villainesses supposed to be strong, elegant, and terrifying? How come this one was so... pathetic? Weak, magicless, and hated by everyone. Who designed this character? She wanted answers... No, she wanted compensation!

"System, how long until this body stops feeling like roadkill?" she groaned, pressing her palm to her throbbing forehead.

"Approximately two weeks," System 5060 chimed with robotic cheerfulness. "After that, you will be healed enough to walk, scream, maybe get chased again."

She sighed. "Great. That gives me time to figure out what your useless pixelated existence is even good for."

System, '...' This woman's mouth is so uncouth.

Curious, Serena turned her attention inward. "System, do you have a manual or tutorial? A skill tree? Inventory? Something I can use?"

"Finally! I was beginning to think you would never ask!" the system declared.

Suddenly, a faint chime echoed in her mind, and a glowing panel appeared in front of her. It hovered mid-air like a hologram, displaying data in glowing blue script:

"So many missions? Are you kidding me?" Serena groaned as she scrolled through the panel. The blinking tasks made her head hurt. There was even a freaking time duration. "And a glitch? That's literally the reason I got dumped into this death trap of a world!"

She stared blankly at the endless lines of tasks. How was she supposed to find a glitch in a world this massive? It wasn't like it came with a glowing red flag or something.

"Hey, System, how do I even find this so-called glitch?"

"I have a built-in Glitch Detection feature," System 5060 replied smugly. "Once you're near it, I'll ping it for you."

"Well, thanks for telling me now," Serena muttered under her breath. In the corner of the transparent panel, a small button labeled [STORE] glowed temptingly in gold.

Serena squinted. "Wait… there's a store?" Her curiosity instantly kicked in. She hadn't expected much, but the moment she tapped it..

DING!

A new window popped open with a dramatic sparkle that honestly didn't match the sad reality inside.

[SYSTEM STORE – ACCESS GRANTED]

"Welcome, Host, to the world's most tragically useless convenience store!"

Serena blinked as a glowing panel popped open before her. Rows of item thumbnails scrolled down the screen, only to disappoint her immediately.

Item 1: Slightly Damp Bandage – 5 SP

Heals emotional damage. Physical wounds? Eh, maybe next update.

Item 2: Worn Wooden Spoon – 10 SP

Can be used as a 'weapon' if enemies are really, really slow.

Item 3: Mystery Dust – 15 SP

No one knows what it does. Maybe sparkle?

★Beautifying Items (LV. 1 Limited)

Shimmerleaf Mask – 12 SP

Reduces dark circles by 0.5%. Makes you smell faintly like expensive forest.

Glowberry Lip Balm – 8 SP

Adds a slight natural tint and may or may not attract elves. No refunds.

Low-Tier Skin Refining Mist – 15 SP

Gives the illusion of smooth skin for 10 minutes. Recommended for sudden prince encounters.

Magical Hair Polisher – 30 SP

Tames frizz, adds shine. Might also summon admiration from background characters.

System Points (SP): 50

Experience Points (Exp Points): 0

Note:

System Points (SP) are used to purchase items, skills, and upgrades from the system store. Exp Points are required to level up and unlock more powerful system functions. To SP and Exp Points, the host has to complete daily tasks, side missions, and uncover hidden quests.

.... What the fuck, Serena gawked, her eyes widened as saucers. "What kind of cursed dollar-store magic is this?!"

System 5060 chirped cheerfully, "Due to Host's current level (Lv. 1 – Magically Impaired), the available inventory is… extremely limited. However...!"

A new line flashed at the bottom:

[STORE UPGRADE CONDITIONS]

Level up to unlock higher-tier equipment, artifacts, spellbooks, and weapon skills.

Level 5 : Basic magical items unlocked

Level 10: Tier 1 weapons and healing potions

Level 15+: Unique enchanted gear, stealth abilities, passive buffs, and elemental affinity boosters

Level 20+: Artifact access, skill fusion, and limited summons.

Level 100 and above: Information locked

Serena sighed. "So I'm broke and weak, and my only lifeline is a sarcastic vending machine."

"Hey, I prefer the term mobile enhancement center," System 5060 huffed.

Still… she couldn't deny the potential. If she survived long enough to reach those higher levels, maybe. Just maybe... She could finally stop being the universe's punchline.

Current Store Status:

- User Level: 1

- Available Items: 6

- Upgrade Progress: 3%

Current magic skill ability: Fire ability (Level 1)

This is so.... Fucked up.

Alright, she will deal with what she has. Just save this messed-up world, find a mysterious glitch, and poof, return home to her mom and annoying little brother. But was it really that simple?

Her chest tightened at the thought. Was she really dead in her original world? Was her mother crying right now? Or did that lunatic mafia boss bury her body in some dark alley no one would ever find?

Before she could spiral further, two maids entered, carrying silver trays. "Lady Veronica, we have brought your lunch."

She looked at the rich spread of food, way fancier than her instant noodles back home. With a soft sigh, Serena leaned back.

From now on, she wasn't Serena anymore.

She was Veronica Noire Ravenshire, a magicless villainess in a world built to destroy her.

Game on.
