Chapter 10 - chapter 10 ^cosmos^

Thirty minutes later, they finally arrived in front of the Adventurer's Association building.

The building stood sturdy, a rectangular structure with two floors. Its clean white walls with firm design lines and minimal ornamentation reminded Fyar of some of the modern buildings in his world. It was very different from the rest of the city's more classical architecture.

As they stepped inside, their gazes were immediately greeted by a golden statue in the middle of the spacious lobby. The statue was in the form of a winged woman sitting gracefully, her gaze radiating peace.

The atmosphere inside felt quiet and formal. Other than a few landscape paintings hanging on the walls, there were only a few high tables without chairs scattered throughout the large room.

At the far end of the room, a woman with long white hair was standing behind a receptionist desk. Her sharp red eyes immediately caught their presence. Fyar and Rasie approached her.

The white-haired woman smiled warmly as they drew near.

"Welcome, Rasie. Anything I can help you with this time?" she greeted with a clear voice. Her eyes then shifted to Fyar. "And oh, who's the man beside you? I've never seen him before."

"He's fyar, an adventurer who wants to make a new card. His old one was lost," Rasie answered simply.

"Ahh, I see. May I know which city he's from?" Lara asked again, her hand ready to grab a form.

"I can't answer that." Rasie's tone of voice became a little stiff. She didn't want to expose Fyar's situation to others. Robert was an exception because she had known him for years, plus he was the one making Fyar's weapon.

"Ah, I see. Very well," Lara replied with a tone that didn't change at all, as if she had expected such an answer.

Fyar was a little surprised by the casual response. "Huh, you're not going to insist or ask further?"

Lara giggled softly, covering her mouth with one hand. "Well, that's just how it is. Besides, I only asked as a formality."

After that, she bent down and picked up a dimly glowing crystal orb from under the desk along with a blank card. She then handed the orb to Fyar.

"Grip this orb with one hand, then place your other hand on top of the blank card," Lara instructed.

Fyar did as he was told. He gripped the donut-sized orb with his left hand and placed his right palm on the blank card, which felt cool against his skin.

Instantly, his entire world went pitch black.

The scenery in Fyar's mind changed. He was no longer inside the association building. Now he was floating in the middle of an endless expanse of cosmos, surrounded by beautiful dark blue and light green nebulas.

What is this? An illusion? Fyar murmured in his mind.

Suddenly, the figure of a green-haired man appeared before him. The man looked at him with a pair of mismatched eyes. Blue on the right, and gold on the left.

"Don't panic. This is your subconscious," the man's voice sounded gentle in Fyar's ears.

"Who are you?" Fyar pressed, trying to control his shock. "Are you the one who sent me to this world? Answer me."

"I am someone that 'he' placed into your soul," the man replied with a faint smile.

"By 'him'?" Fyar asked, growing more confused.

The man chuckled softly. "A truly heavy destiny will befall you young man. I won't tell you the details, because you will find them out yourself as time goes on...actualy I'm kinda curious whether the ending will be the same as the first one. I can only wait and see heh."

"What do you mean? I don't understand at all. The end? The first one?"

"Come to the dungeon in the western region. There, eat the golden-yellow fruit. that is all I can tell you for now," the man continued, ignoring Fyar's questions. " don't tell anyone about this conversation of ours."

After the mysterious man finished speaking, the cosmic view in front of Fyar shattered like glass, and he returned to the real world.

"Are you alright? You were spacing out for quite a while," Lara's voice sounded, pulling Fyar back completely.

"purple hair?" Rasie looked at him, her usually curt expression now showing a hint of worry.

I'm back. What was that? Fyar's mind was in turmoil. I'm sick of all this confusing stuff. What does he mean by a heavy destiny?

For now, it seems I have no choice but to get stronger. I have to be able to go to the dungeon that strange man mentioned.

Fyar then forced a smile towards Lara and Rasie. "I'm fine."

"Ah?"

Fyar's attention was drawn to the card in his hand. The card that was previously blank was now filled with light blue writing.

I'm a Hunter?

Fyar stared at the word 'Hunter' with a furrowed brow. He thought he could choose his own class, just like in the RPGs he used to play.
