Chapter 2 - Hatchling in the Storm

The sky over Pallet Town was calm… for a moment.

Ash Ketchum, ten years old and full of dreams, was taking his first step into the world he stood on a hillside, eyes wide as a golden-winged shape soared through the sky, painting a rainbow trail in its wake. Ho-Oh—the mythical phoenix—flew over, unnoticed by most, but not by all, because in the woods… something else stirred something not from this world.

"…nnngh…"

I groaned. The sound was strange, deeper than my old voice. Rawer. It echoed weird through my throat, like it belonged to a beast, not a guy who used to sit around watching battle replays on his phone while eating cold noodles.

My body felt like it had just been electrocuted from the inside out. Which… honestly made sense i shifted—scales brushing leaves—and realized how wrong everything felt. No fingers. No toes. Just claws and wings and a heavy tail dragging through dirt and broken branches.

> [Status: Reboot Complete.]

[Species: Unknown Electric/Dragon-type Variant]

[Stage: Hatchling (Lv. 1)]

[Quest Log Updated: Survive.]

"Yeah. Real helpful," I muttered, or tried to. What came out was more of a rumbling snarl with a slight sizzle at the end the system, for all its sci-fi vibes, didn't care about my panic i tried standing. My limbs—front and back—were strong, but shaky. Four legs? No… Two legs, and two wings. My balance sucked. Every twitch sent static buzzing across my scales nearby, a Pidgey chirped once before bolting.

I turned in a slow circle, taking in the forest. The trees were wide and old, moss curling up the trunks. A few Caterpie were crawling along a branch not far above me. Everything smelled… sharp. Clean, but tinged with ozone, like the air before a thunderstorm then the rain came First a drizzle. Then a downpour.

The storm rolled in like it had been waiting for me i should've been afraid. I should've panicked. But something deep in my core… welcomed it.

> [Passive Trait: Stormkin – Lightning strengthens your regeneration during natural storms.] …Huh," I muttered again. This time it almost sounded like a word.

I sat there, beneath the pouring sky, watching streaks of lightning spiderweb across the darkened clouds above. In the distance, I could just barely see the golden shimmer of wings through the storm's curtain. Something flew past. Not toward me… but toward a boy in the distance. A kid with spiky hair and a hat Ho-Oh?

I blinked. Was I really that close to Pallet Town So that meant… this was the same world. Not a knockoff or copy. The Pokémon world. The original.

Ash Ketchum had just started his journey and me I was still trying to figure out how to pee in this body without frying the grass.

> [Quest Unlocked: Name Thyself.]

The system chimed again, always a little too smug. I rolled my eyes—or tried to. Might've just been a neck tilt. Hard to tell with a snout Still… a name That was something I could control.

I closed my eyes, letting the rain wash over my back, the static in my scales growing stronger, hotter, wilder if I was lightning and fang… if I was reborn in storm and power…

Then I'd name myself that way."Raikuro," I said aloud—or roared, maybe. The name came from nowhere. Felt like it was already mine.

> [Name Confirmed: Raikuro.]

[New Title: The Storm Hatchling]

[Trait Unlocked: Thunderheart – Your courage resists fear-based status effects.]

Somewhere deep in the woods, thunder answered my new life had started, and this time…I wasn't gonna be some NPC or wild monster waiting to be caught. This was my storm and I was done hiding.

I took a shaky step forward. Then another. My claws sank into the mud as the storm roared overhead, like the sky itself was watching me.

It felt… right Like it knew I belonged in it now each breath I took buzzed with energy. My muscles still ached—maybe from being born as a literal lightning dragon—but the ache felt good. It meant I was here. Alive.

> [Minor Static Charge Stored: 12%]

[Basic Ability Unlocked: Spark Pulse – Release a short-range burst of electricity around you.]

My lips curled into something like a grin. It felt weird on a snout i was learning the system wasn't just here for decoration—it was teaching me how to survive. How to fight. How to grow stronger in a world that probably wanted me dead before I figured out how to use the bathroom without electrocuting a Weedle.

I kept walking—more like a wobbly power-strut—through the woods. The trees parted ahead into a clearing, lit only by lightning flashes. It looked peaceful. Too peaceful.

And that's when I heard it a hiss low. Wet. Hungry.

> [Danger Detected: Wild Ekans – Lv. 5 – Aggressive State]

[Battle Start!]

My scales tightened on instinct. I barely had time to glance to the right before something purple and fast lunged out of the bushes.

I rolled hard to the side—my tail dragging like a heavy whip—just barely dodging the strike. The Ekans hit the ground where I'd just been and slithered back up, eyes narrowed and tongue flicking it was longer than I expected. Fangs like ivory hooks. It rattled its tail, trying to intimidate me.

> [Fear Resistance: Thunderheart Activated – No Effect.]

Yeah, no. That kind of thing might scare a Pichu.

Not me lightning sparked across my body, wild and unstable. I focused—tried to aim it like I'd seen in games—and snarled through my teeth.

"Back. Off." again, it didn't sound like words. Just a warning growl, raw and sparking, but Ekans didn't care. It lunged again.

> [Spark Pulse – Activated!]

BOOM.

A flash burst out of me in every direction. Not huge, but enough to light up the night and force the Ekans mid-air into a twitching spiral it hit the dirt, convulsing. Smoke curled off its scales,But it wasn't down it rose again—shaking now, slower.

> [Target Status: Paralyzed – 45% Speed Reduction]

[Weak Point Detected: Behind the Jaw – Bite Now to Disable.]

I didn't stop to think i charged—claws digging into wet dirt—and rammed into it with all I had. Not elegant. Not flashy. Just raw speed and a spark-lit tackle.

We rolled it hissed—fangs snapping inches from my throat i sank my claws into the side of its neck and drove my body weight down. I opened my mouth and bit hard lightning surged through my fangs.

> [Bite Successful – Bonus Damage Applied: Electric Conduction]

[Wild Ekans Defeated.]

[Exp Gained: 27]

[Level Up! Lv. 2 ➤ Lv. 3]

[Stat Points Gained: +4]

[New Skill Available: Thunder Lunge (Locked – Lv. 5 Required)]

I stood there, breathing hard, steam rising from my jaws the Ekans wasn't moving anymore Not dead—but knocked out cold.

I stepped back, limbs trembling. Not from fear. From the high that was my first battle My first win No starter Pokémon No Poké Ball just tooth and claw and volts and me Raikuro.

Somewhere beyond the trees, in a quiet house with a single light on, a boy named Ash clutched his Poké Ball close, dreaming of adventure he had no idea that just miles away, something ancient and new was already walking the wilds—growing, hunting, and waking up to power.
