Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Teaching, Green's Approval

Zhuqing Breeding Center.

Li Wei retrieved the data from the computer and sent it to Jenny through Qinglv.

While waiting for Jenny's assistance with the investigation,

Qinglv generally explained to Li Wei the reason for his visit.

When Mr. Lien was young, he traveled to the Kanto region and became good friends with Professor Oak.

Professor Oak taught Mr. Lien breeding techniques,

and Mr. Lien tried to teach Professor Oak how to cook,

but only managed to teach him how to boil instant noodles with an alcohol lamp.

Qinglv said helplessly, "Let's not mention that."

Mr. Lien was not the type to boast about his past glories, too lazy to talk about his brilliant bygone years.

Mr. Lien had even visited Pallet Town a few years ago, so Qinglv had met him.

However, Li Wei was unaware of this.

"Some time ago, Mr. Lien called my grandpa, Professor Oak, with a request."

"Originally, it was for you to go to Pallet Town for further study, but Professor Oak said you were busy with the Breeding House, so he asked me to come over."

Qinglv shrugged slightly, feeling helpless, "I'm also the Gym Leader of Tokiwa Gym, okay?"

As a filial grandson,

Qinglv could only choose to make the trip.

...

Sitting in the living room, each with a bottle of iced cola in front of them,

Qinglv leaned back on the sofa very relaxed, crossed his legs, and casually said, "Tell me about yourself, when did you start breeding Pokemon?"

"I got a Lucario egg two years ago; that was my first time breeding a Pokemon."

Recalling Lucario's breeding situation, Qinglv nodded slightly; breeding to this extent in two years was quite good.

Qinglv was no longer so careless, sitting upright with a serious expression and saying:

"Although I promised Mr. Lien, that was Professor Oak's promise. As for whether to teach you...

I was still considering it. I thought if you were an idiot, I would turn around and leave immediately."

Li Wei's mouth twitched.

Wouldn't it be better for everyone to be polite?

"I'm not your teacher, but for the next seven days, I will do my best to teach you. How much you learn depends on you."

Qinglv glanced at the time, "If there are no problems, we'll start this afternoon. I'll go prepare first."

After saying this, Qinglv left.

"What are you... doing?"

Opening the door, staring wide-eyed, Qinglv looked at the very sneaky Leon with great confusion.

"Just passing by, just passing by!"

Comrade Leon scratched the back of his head and chuckled.

Li Wei shouted towards the corner, "Come out."

Comrade Leon wanted to pretend he wasn't eavesdropping, but he took up too much space.

"Son! What were you just talking about with Qinglv?"

Comrade Leon had been squatting to eavesdrop, but with the door closed, he couldn't hear clearly.

"Grandpa asked him to teach me breeding knowledge, for seven days."

Leon was not as casual as usual, and said in a deep voice, "This is a Champion, you must learn well!"

However, he quickly broke character, muttering softly, "Although he's a 5-minute Champion..."

"Don't worry, I know."

Whether he's a Champion or not isn't important;

the most important thing is Qinglv's breeding ability.

He was given the title of 'Breeder' by Professor Oak.

Qinglv once cultivated a team to guard Tokiwa Gym in less than a year.

Red's Pokemon had also been trained by Qinglv.

The two had once swapped teams for a week.

In fact, it's normal for their Pokemon to be swapped back and forth now.

The outstanding strength of Red's Pokemon is, to some extent, also partly due to Qinglv's efforts.

Qinglv also learned about emotions and bonds with Pokemon from Red.

They are a pair of rivals and close friends who encourage and improve each other.

...

Li Wei specifically posted an update:

[I'll be studying for these seven days, so I'll be busy. I'll post employment guidance 05 when I get back.]

Qinglv also sent a message to Red.

[No time, I have class, seven days.]

Red looked up at the computer, then at his phone,

"Why are they both seven days?"

"Never mind, I'll go find someone to battle!"

[Ding, you have a new side quest—Qinglv's Approval]

[Please gain Qinglv's approval during the seven days of study. Quest Reward: Unknown.]

Li Wei chose to accept.

In the afternoon, in the back kitchen.

Before teaching, Qinglv explained the investigation results.

"There's something wrong with that Trainer's information. Jenny said she's still investigating."

"So, the Feebas issue is likely due to this Trainer?"

Qinglv nodded slightly: "Highly likely. Let's not talk about that; let's begin."

Qinglv immediately entered teaching mode.

Qinglv pointed to a pile of ingredients he had asked Comrade Wenhui to help prepare.

"Can you make Pokemon food?"

Li Wei was very confident, "Yes."

Qinglv wasn't sure what Li Wei's capabilities were.

"Show me. You need to make it for my Arcanine. Its taste is normal among Arcanine."

The steps for making Pokemon food,

are actually no simpler than Energy Cube and Poffin,

it's a comprehensive test of knife skills, cooking temperature, and seasoning.

Li Wei chose a plump duck; not a Farfetch'd, but an ordinary wild duck.

The first step was to debone it.

Qinglv specifically asked Wen Hui to choose a plump duck; the meat quality was not bad, but the deboning difficulty was higher.

Li Wei's movements were clean and precise, showing no nervousness in front of Qinglv.

The moment Li Wei stopped, he pressed the stopwatch.

"7 minutes 53 seconds."

Li Wei's deboning speed exceeded Qinglv's imagination.

After deboning, the appearance was perfect; Qinglv couldn't find any flaws.

"Very good, much better than I imagined. Continue."

Knife skills are not particularly important in Pokemon food; after all, it's going to be minced.

But good knife skills are a bonus.

Li Wei chopped various ingredients, then added various seasonings according to the normal taste of Arcanine, mincing them into meat paste.

After cooking, this would result in the meat pellets similar to dog food and cat food that Pokemon food presents.

During this process, the cooking temperature is very important.

Too long and the meat will be tough, too high a flame and it might not form or burst open.

Li Wei finally ground Berries into powder and sprinkled them evenly over the finished food.

Qinglv couldn't find a single flaw in this portion of food Li Wei made for Arcanine.

"Come out, Arcanine!"

Qinglv threw out a Poké Ball and then placed the food in front of Arcanine.

"Eat."

Qinglv watched Arcanine wagging its tail, burying its head in the food, then looked up at Li Wei,

"Your foundation is very solid. Actually, it wouldn't matter much even if you didn't learn from me these seven days."

Li Wei shook his head: "It's just because I also have an Arcanine."

Li Wei dared not be too proud.

What if Qinglv really left?

He would have nowhere to cry.

Qinglv's mouth curved slightly, "This afternoon, we'll start with Ground-type Pokemon food."

Qinglv liked people who were talented yet humble.

Because teaching them was not difficult.

Qinglv truly imparted everything he knew,

without holding anything back.

After taking over Tokiwa Gym, Qinglv obtained Sakaki's "Secrets of the Earth," making Ground-type his strong suit.

He told Li Wei the exact proportions of ingredients and ratios.
