Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Senior Cultivator Assessment

Jubilife Pokémon Center.

"Ding-a-ling-ling—"

As the exam bell rang, Li Wei began his test.

Compared to the intermediate assessment, the written test for the Senior assessment included more research on Pokemon ecology and regional forms.

Alolan Vulpix's attribute changed to _____ due to environmental adaptation.

Common reasons for delayed development in Turtwig include: nutritional imbalance, insufficient light, and some genetic defects.

Alolan Exeggutor's attribute is _____, and its extremely long neck is for _____, adapting to compete with tall trees in a _____ environment.

Case Study Question:

Onix residing in Heijin Coal Mine suddenly lost its appetite. Please analyze the possible reasons based on the picture, list at least 3 points, and propose feasible suggestions.

The Heijin Coal Mine in the picture showed pollutants, which was an obvious giveaway.

Reasons: high-temperature environment leading to dehydration, insufficient mineral intake, pollutants in the coal mine causing loss of appetite...

Feasible suggestions: supplement with calcium and iron mineral powder mixed feed, regularly spray cooling mist, relocate it to a cool area.

Breeding Plan Design Question:

Design a full-cycle breeding plan for a Gible.

Good heavens, a giveaway question?!

Li Wei answered from four perspectives: nutrition stage, skill training, evolution preparation, and resistance training.

The last major question researched the impact of urban expansion and human activities on the survival environment of Pokémon.

Li Wei was still the first to finish his paper, scoring 91 points.

"This assessment was too difficult."

"Who would know how to raise a Gible?"

"Who knows about Alolan Exeggutor..."

Most of the questions they had memorized were related to Sinnoh region Pokémon.

No one expected that this assessment would actually include regional form questions.

As a result, among the four people, only Li Wei passed the assessment with over eighty points.

"Li Wei, 91 points, congratulations on passing the first round of assessment. Please go draw your Pokémon for the second round of assessment."

"You got 91 points for this too?!"

The passerby who took the exam with Li Wei was stunned.

Li Wei just wanted to say, isn't this something anyone with hands can do?

The reading comprehensions he did before were much harder.

Do you know what it means for a fish's eyes to flash with a strange light?

He released so many koi, but lost to a grass carp.

"Miss Joy, may we observe the second round of assessment?"

"That depends on whether Mr. Li Wei is willing."

"I have no problem."

Miss Joy warned, "But you must remember, no recording."

"No problem."

Miss Joy led Li Wei to a room where hundreds of Poké Balls were placed on shelves.

"Please draw two Pokémon."

Even though Miss Joy was Li Wei's fan, she did not go easy on Li Wei during the assessment and did not give him any hints.

Miss Joy had professional integrity.

Li Wei's Identification Eye was useless on Poké Balls, so he randomly picked two.

"Come out!"

One was a Flareon, the only king with a cream-colored tuft of fur on its forehead, a fluffy ruff, and a large, bushy tail.

The other was a Staraptor, a bird with a hairstyle like Ash's, possessing sharp claws and keen eyes.

Both were equally strong, Superior Advanced.

Normally, the examiner's Pokémon would probably only be this strong.

"You need to understand their skills and abilities in the shortest possible time, and then you can choose any of the four rooms for the battle assessment."

Li Wei took out high-quality Oran Berry cubes to restore stamina, fed some to each of them, and built up some rapport.

While doing so, he also used his Identification Eye to look at their abilities and learned skills.

Eevee had Flash Fire, meaning Fire-type moves had no effect on it, but instead increased the power of its Fire-type moves.

Staraptor had Reckless, meaning the power of moves with recoil damage would increase.

Li Wei stood up, "We can start now."

Miss Joy was startled, "Aren't you going to prepare more?"

While Miss Joy couldn't go easy in other areas, she could give Li Wei more time to understand the Pokémon.

The Breeder who had requested to observe was also stunned.

"Isn't he being a bit too overconfident?"

"No need, I'm ready."

Miss Joy could only nod, "Then please follow me."

Li Wei was too lazy to choose and simply picked the first of the four rooms, very decisively.

It was Miss Joy's first time seeing someone take an assessment so casually.

However, thinking that it was Li Wei, who could even care for a Garchomp, it seemed not entirely unacceptable?

In the room was an old man whom Li Wei didn't recognize, probably a League staff member.

Miss Joy stood in the middle of the field at the referee's position.

"I will be the referee for this battle."

"This battle is a two-on-two. Both sides can freely switch Pokémon. The first side whose two Pokémon lose their battle capability loses. Let the battle begin."

As Miss Joy waved her flag, Li Wei and the examiner, A Zhi, both sent out their Pokémon.

"Go, Flareon!"

"Go, Roserade!"

In terms of types, Flareon had an advantage over the Grass + Poison-type Roserade.

However, Roserade's strength was higher than Li Wei expected; it was Superior Low-tier, a bit stronger than Flareon.

Its ability was Natural Cure, which healed status conditions when it was switched out.

So Flareon's Will-O-Wisp wouldn't be a fatal threat to Roserade.

"It's Flareon, the young man's luck is good."

A Zhi immediately commanded, "Roserade, Toxic Spikes!"

A Zhi seemed to be a very skilled person, immediately laying Toxic Spikes.

Roserade elegantly rotated its body, scattering purple Toxic Spikes from its flower buds, covering Li Wei's side of the field.

Toxic Spikes covered the ground with poisonous spikes, causing Pokémon to be poisoned when switched in.

Although this Eevee knew Baton Pass, Calm Mind wasn't very effective with Staraptor, and only Flame Charge for acceleration was useful.

"Flareon, Flame Wheel!"

Roserade, which was rotating in place to scatter Toxic Spikes, took a direct hit from Flareon's Flame Wheel, its body becoming scorched.

Li Wei's fan whispered, "It hit!"

Mr. A Zhi commanded again, "Magical Leaf!"

The wide range of Magical Leaf made it almost certain to hit.

Li Wei said loudly, "Mimic!"

Two streams of Magical Leaf collided in the air, causing an explosion.

Roserade's Magical Leaf was still more powerful.

Flareon was hit by some Magical Leaf, but Grass-type moves had little effect on Flareon.

Li Wei didn't care at all.

"Roserade, Synthesis!"

The ceiling of this room was transparent glass, and Roserade's Synthesis recovered very quickly under sunny conditions.

"Flame Charge, stop it!"

The advancing Eevee, covered in orange-red flames, crashed into Roserade again.

When the thick smoke cleared, Roserade had already lost its battle capability.

A Zhi frowned deeply, "Strange, Flareon's move power seems to have increased more than usual…"
