James appeared on the terrace, sea breeze refreshing under sunlight. "Finally back," he said, inhaling.
"James?!" Wanda's joyful cry came as she tackled him, clinging tightly, her red hair spilling. "You're back!" Her chaos magic pulsed, her curves pressed against him.
Kara closed her book, rising from a beach chair, blonde hair glinting, blue eyes bright. "Half a month gone," she teased.
"Time flow difference," James explained, smirking. "Just beat some demons in a magic world."
Wanda dragged him inside. "Tony's been asking about you—something about a quantum discovery."
James raised an eyebrow. "What's he cooked up now?"
A hologram of Tony appeared, standing by a massive ring device. "Guess what I'm building?" he grinned. "A quantum tunnel to parallel universes!"
"Looks like a portal," James said, sipping wine.
"Better!" Tony switched to quantum equations. "It opens multiversal doors. I need your magic to stabilize it."
Wanda sighed, "Science nerds." Kara's hair floated in the static, her armor gleaming.
James touched the console, soul-possessing it, optimizing in seconds. "Your buffer's off by 37%," he said.
Tony gaped, then grinned. "Fix it with me?"
They dove into equations, Wanda folding chaos-magic paper cranes, Kara listening with super hearing. "First test!" Tony announced. The ring's vortex grew, lights flickering. Alarms blared, readings red. "Interference!" James warned, spotting a chaotic void.
A massive energy tentacle smashed through, twisting metal. Kara's eyes glowed red, Wanda's chaos shield flared, Tony's armor fired. James ignited hellfire. "Want in? Pay the toll." His flame burned the tentacle, his magic-enhanced destruction ray blasting the void, silencing the invader's roar.
