Chapter 9 - Qualification Tests [3]

Jannah dart forward and swung her stick from the side, successfully grabbing the instructor's attention while Winford came from the front as he raised his greatsword and swings it upward, barely grazing the instructor's meticulous ascot cravat and jaw, forcing the instructor to do a 360 and hit him back with twice the heaviness before effortlessly deflecting Jannah's side attack, and kicking Zhenyel away simultaneously.

Winford grunted as he blocked the attack with his weapon, getting knocked back again as he softened his landing with the greatsword, digging it against the compact dirt and grabbing the floor with his gloved hand.

He looked over to Zhenyel with a nonverbal agreement to end things, just a graze would be enough, then he turned to Jannah, his eyes flickering to the instructor.

Not a minute after, three of them charged forward again. Winford took the first attack, propelling his body to the air and swinging his greatsword down to the instructor, aiming to make her deflect or defend his attack so that Jannah and Zhenyel could do the damage for him.

When the instructor went with their plan, Jannah swept her off her feet and struck from the side. She swung her stick back to force the instructor to move back to evade her attack, successfully driving her to where they needed her to be.

"Zhenyel!" Jannah yells to give the signal as Zhenyel appears out of nowhere from behind the instructor, using the blunt end of her sword staff against the instructor's stomach before delivering the final blow with the other end, the sword, into the instructor's hand.

"That would be all! You may choose to move on to the next phase; it won't be physically taxing like this one, so you're free to go forward or rest for a day or two. Backing out from the Qualification Tests is also possible, but be warned that you won't be able to be tested again for 1-2 months." The instructor says that as he used his skill to heal the injured applicants from the test, the ceremonial staff mace in his hand shines white and gold that engulfing the injured ones and rejuvenating them.

"Are you sure you don't need to be healed, Zhenyel?" Winford asks as he glances at the girl beside him, his eyes flickering with momentary concern.

He watched as Jannah tries to reprimand her and make her consult the instructor to heal her because out of the three of them, she's the one who got more tired and received the last blow from their assigned instructor from earlier without any thing to block the attack, only her weapon that snapped into two when she tried to use it.

"You two are being a bunch of worrywarts. If anyone needs to ask for healing, it would be Lachlan. He tanked the damages since the beginning of our assessment; he's not even a cleric." Zhenyel says as she weasels her way out of being healed, giving a peace to them both before disappearing to the next phase, making Winford stare at the spot she was just in, pondering.

"I'll be going now, too. Nice work out there, Winford. Hope to see you pass the tests. See ya!" Jannah says as she also runs out of the arena, sprinting to the next site of the test. That leaves Winford by the entryway of the arena as he stares at the entrance where both Zhenyel and Jannah bolt out.

[ THE ADVENTURERS GUILD ENTRY QUALIFICATION - THIRD PHASE : RESOURCEFULNESS TEST ]

"Hm. Good job making it this far. It seems like there's a good number of applicants who moved forward the very same day, wonderful. Now then, the third phase of your test would be about scavenging resources and creating a certain item, whether it be a healing salve, a minor trap, or a makeshift tool for your task. You will be transported in a small dungeon, given a mission scroll, and within a limited time, you must look for the items you need for the item you chose to make from the list you are provided." The small instructor says as she gives everyone a small smile, using her long stick to point to the big display behind her as she speaks.

"Onto the stuff you mustn't do: you are not allowed to harm your fellow applicants if you come across one, you are allowed to steal their items, but not the finished item task. You may not venture deeper into the dungeon than given to you; that also goes to leaving the site without your item because you would be disqualified. That would be all, good luck to everyone, and do your best!" The small instructor chirped cheerfully before snapping her fingers, scrolls were given to the present applicants by the gloved handed assistants before they all offered their own wishes for the exam takers' to pass, watching them as some of the applicants panicked when a spell formation glowed under them, transporting them all to the said dungeon for the third phase test.

"Fufufu. I saw a good number of exam takers unfazed. This year's new adventurers might be one of the best, if not the greatest. How fun." The small instructor says softly with amusement as she hums in delight, walking to the observation room to join her fellow instructors.

Zhenyel teleported to a thick forest, landing her feet gently on the ground when she was finished materializing in the air.

This is the Phase Three site? It looks similar to the first phase.

She thought to herself as she took in the environment, walking around aimlessly before she halted and looked at her mission scroll.

| Third Phase : Scavenging and Crafting! |

It was read at the very top, before she skimmed further down. Everything that was listed was what the instructor had said earlier, except for the list of items that can be crafted.

The list was divided into three: Easy, Normal, and Hard Crafting Items. Her eyes instinctively squinted at the list, pondering which one she should craft.
