Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

This shit was not sweet...

Experimenting? More like guesstimating, because I had little to no information.

Testing was easy, usually, but usually, luck played less of a factor.

With me, however, Lady Luck seemed to be a cold, cheating bitch. I got no information at all. The only guaranteed drops I got were from the Boss mobs, but for my life, I couldn't remember the leggings I was wearing in the game, they did not exist.

The first theory I had, from just having the stupid pants, the first theory I had was that the system did not care about time, meaning, the time I came from did not mean that I only had access to the armor sets that were available in that version of Dark Souls Two, which could also mean that they made a Dark Souls Two- Two, Highly unlikely.

Theory two was that each Grimm dropped armor sets exclusive to them, and maybe even a weapon. But Factor in random Consumables that were sprinkled inside like seasoning, and the already bad drop rates went down to the Earth's core.

"Fuck me sideways..."

I muttered, sighing in exasperation as I pushed some food around on my plate.

"I'd rather not."

The grunt came from the old man who was still following me around like a leech, and I never wanted to punch him as badly as I did now.

"You seem to be getting stronger from each battle, Boy, what's your semblance?"

I blinked and turned my head towards him like he had just grown a second head.

What the hell was a semblance?

"What?"

That was all I could muster as an answer, my eyebrow arched toward my hairline.

"What do you mean "What?", Semblance, yours, what is it?"

I just stared at him blankly before nodding.

"Yes, I get stronger after Battles."

The old man grunted, eyeing me for a moment before turning to his own plate of food.

"Figured, I was wrong about a smaller sword, that greatsword you have will be the best chance you have at swordsmanship."

I hummed, nodding and taking a bite of the vegetables on my plate. That was close.

I needed to find out what a Semblance was.

"Why would that be?"

I asked, not looking at him as I stabbed the chopped-up potato on my plate, popping it in my mouth.

"Because you have no control over it, you should get that checked out with the doctor, see if your semblance has any negative effects on your body."

I nodded, though, and made a note in my mind to avoid doing just that.

"Will do."

The plate was already empty, so I just stood up from the chair.

"I'm gonna go catch some shut eye."

I grumbled, pushing the chair back in and walking towards the stairs that would lead me to the rooms. Finally reaching mine, I dug into my pocket and took out the key, unlocking it and stepping inside, locking the door behind me.

I sighed, my shoulders drooping slightly as I walked over to the bed and dropped down, opening my inventory.

The large Grimm attack that happened a few days ago was very profitable for me, that is, not everybody else, it did take a few days for me to gather the drops on my daily patrols, picking up one at a time on my way in and out, since I didn't want to seem like a lunatic.

I scrolled through my findings, some throwing daggers, a dung pie... Three Titanite shards, which were rather lucky, but since I had no idea what dropped them, it could have been anything in the chaos.

And finally, something that would help me with farming... A rusted Coin.

A single rusted coin that only boosted my luck for five minutes.

Great progress, Arthur, really great.

Switching over to my stat menu, I checked the amount of souls I had, and it was more than enough. Thirty-three thousand, and honestly, to my level sixty-seven self, it was god sent.

My strength was already at thirty, and dexterity was at thirteen, the bare minimum of I needed to wield my greatsword.

I was aiming to get all main stats to Thrity and go from there, since that would allow me to wield almost all weapons that could drop, while increasing my health and stamina as well as my damage.

So Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity all needed to be at thirty. Since adaptability was already at twenty-one, I didn't need to touch that for now. Vitality wasn't needed since my luck isn't good enough to get myself armor or a shield, and I wasn't touching the magic stats for a good while.

So I added four levels to my Vigor, bringing it up to twenty-eight, making me level seventy-one...

Okay, maybe in retrospect, I did not have that many souls since I couldn't level up anymore.

I was left with pocket change that I couldn't spend, since I couldn't buy anything with these souls.

I dropped my head back on the bed with a groan.

I miss the Giant lord, that soul farm spoiled me too much, and now I am suffering from withdrawal.

As soon as I get out of this village, I need to hunt down as many alphas as possible, for the drops and the souls, because I can't stay this low level for long.

My eyes snapped open as I heard a loud shout from a crow. I sat up, looking out the window to stare at the giant nevermore for a few seconds, before a rocket ascended from somewhere in the village and shot it down.

... Classic.

Shame I didn't get any souls from that, or learned how to fight it, because I had a faint feeling that I would need that knowladge in the near future.
