Liam, Corin, and the little girl Jasmine had brought were playing a game of wolves, their laughter echoing across the courtyard. Seralyn smiled softly at the sight before slipping away on her errand.
Elsewhere, the king took Lara's hand and guided her into the garden.
"I have a surprise for you," he said.
Her brows lifted. "What is it?"
He opened his palm. Resting there was a silver necklace, simple yet elegant. The pendant was shaped like a crescent moon, gleaming in the daylight.
"Wear this tonight," he said softly.
Lara's breath caught. "It's beautiful."
"Just like you."
Lara blushed, lowering her gaze. Thornak stepped closer, brushing a strand of hair from her face. With careful hands, he lifted the necklace and placed it around her neck. The silver pendant brushed against her skin, settling over her collarbone like it belonged there. She touched the pendant lightly.
"You have been busy," Lara said.
