Nerida's eyes widened. "Wait a second… this is the port city of Dravenmoor?"
Marla snorted. "Not quite what you expected?"
"Well," Nerida said, her tone softening into a mix of awe and amusement, "it's not every day you travel to another realm."
Up ahead, Lara came rushing towards them, Dorian and Wanda close behind.
Nerida tilted her head, studying her. "What is she wearing?"
Lara wore a fitted brown tunic over leather trousers, knee-high boots, and a belt cinched at her waist.
Even Marla raised an eyebrow.
"Where is Thornak?" Lara asked quickly when she reached them.
"Umm… about that," Marla said opening the small pouch.
A tiny silver grey cat lay inside, sleeping peacefully.
Lara stared. "What… what…"
"We had to change him into something we could easily move," Nerida said with a shrug.
Lara's eyes snapped to her. "What is she doing here?"
"Well, technically she is the king's life force now," Marla said.
