Chapter 20 - Zhao Wuqing

[Ding, talent selected successfully! Simulation starting...]

[At 18 years old, you reached the first level of qi refinement in a week.]

[Filled with pride, you rushed to your master, hoping for praise and rewards, only to have your new talent take over. You accused your master of stealing a priceless treasure, ending a normal conversation and turning it into a full-on brawl.]

[You were soundly beaten and thrown from his peak, with your master's enraged voice echoing behind you, "Don't come back until you've learned your lesson!"]

[Thrown to the sect grounds, you refused to settle down and went around actively courting death, using your new talent to turn every interaction into a fight.]

[As the saying goes, when one repeatedly seeks death, one shall find it.]

[One day, you found yourself in front of a particularly reckless inner disciple and insulted his 16th generations of ancestors, and with a furious shout, he took your life.]

[Due to your death, the simulation is ending...]

Lin Fang exploded in laughter, a wild, unhinged sound that echoed in his luxurious villa.

"This simulation was truly something else!" he chuckled, wiping a tear from his eye.

"To actually accuse my own master... that Venomous Mouth talent is a menace!" He shivered slightly at the thought of such a self sabotaging ability taking over his mouth in real life.

[Ding, reward generation successful. You can choose one of the following rewards:]

[1-cultivation realm at 18 years old]

[2-combat experience at 18 years old]

[3-white grade talent Venomous Mouth]

He didn't hesitate. "I choose cultivation realm!" he declared, his voice firm with conviction.

At that instant, Lin Fang felt a terrifying change ripple through his body. His dantian, which had once felt like a tranquil pond of martial qi, now erupted into a swirling vortex. Strands of True Qi, ethereal and vibrant, began to birth themselves from the depths of his spiritual sea.

This was no longer the crude qi of a martial artist. This was the very essence of the heavens and earth, a pure, boundless energy that surged through his meridians like a raging river. Each new strand of True Qi brought with it an insane surge of power, cleansing his flesh and bone, pushing his physical limits far beyond what he had ever imagined.

"This was the power of a true cultivator, the power that separated mortals from immortals", he murmured, his eyes shining with unconcealed glee.

After his breakthrough, Lin Fang's stomach let out a mighty growl, demanding attention. "This is the worst part of a breakthrough," he chuckled, patting his stomach. He decided to leave his villa and head straight for the sect's dining hall, eager to treat himself to a true feast.

Upon entering the grand dining hall, Lin Fang was met with the admiring gazes of his fellow disciples. After all, he was the only disciple accepted by the strongest expert and the only golden core cultivator of the sect. ignoring their gazes, he simply found an empty table and sat down, ready to indulge.

Unbeknownst to Lin Fang, a certain core disciple was watching him with a disgusted, almost vengeful look. This was Zhao Wuqing, a cultivator at Qi Refining Level 8 with a low-grade fire spirit root. He had been considered one of the candidates for the young sect master position.

'That bastard!' Zhao Wuqing thought, his jaw clenched. 'Ever since he stepped into the sect, all my plans have been falling apart!' The patriarch and core elders, who had once been so supportive, now seemed distant, their gazes chilling his heart. 'It's all because of him!'

Lin Fang's handsome appearance only further fueled Zhao Wuqing's rage. He glared daggers at Lin Fang, his eyes burning with resentment, before pushing his plate of untouched food aside. He stood up, turning towards the exit while calling out to one of the inner disciples sitting nearby, whose face instantly filled with ingratiation.

Oblivious to the brewing storm, Lin Fang finished another plate of food. He let out a satisfied burp, patting his stomach. "Ah, this is what it means to be alive," he murmured contentedly, before rising to go back to his villa, he was itching for some well deserved sleep.

...

The next day, straight after waking up, Lin Fang left for the highest peak of the sect, the abode of his master. He passed through the crowd of early-rising disciples.

"What a lively place!" Lin Fang exclaimed, marveling at the constant movement. Disciples hurried to and fro, some heading to training grounds, others to lecture halls, a vibrant hum filling the air.

Once he reached the peak, he found the old man in the same position he had left him yesterday, cross-legged with his eyes closed. Before Lin Fang could speak, the old man snapped at him.

"Didn't I tell you to only come back after you have become a Qi Refiner?" the Supreme Elder's voice boomed, though his eyes remained shut.

Lin Fang shot back with a smug smile. "You did, Master, which is exactly why I have come today!"

The old man was momentarily stupefied. His eyes snapped open, and he looked at Lin Fang with a deep, piercing gaze. Lin Fang felt an uncomfortable sensation, as if all his secrets were laid bare before this old man.

Then, a booming laughter echoed through the sect, startling countless disciples and elders alike. Some unfortunate disciples who were cultivating even suffered internal injuries and coughed out blood, their faces pale with shock.

The old man looked at Lin Fang as if he was looking at a peerless treasure. He then thought to himself, 'I told him that i broke through in three days... but i had actually taken 2 weeks!'

"Our sect may still have a chance...", he murmured hope lighting up his eyes.

But then, seeing Lin Fang's prideful look, he adopted a serious expression and lectured. "Don't be too arrogant, kid. You're only slightly more talented than your master."

He sighed dramatically. "There are even more talented monsters out there." He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in. "There are even some sons of fortune out there who were born cultivators!"
