Chapter 43- Questions That Needed To Be Asked.

I stepped back, shaking my head in disbelief.
"You know what? Then I don't want your help anymore. You can leave. This is my house. My life. I'll take care of myself. I'm not in a coma anymore."
Mom stood there, her mouth slightly open, like she couldn't quite process it.
Two years in a coma or not, I was a grown man, and it was time she remembered that.
I took a breath, trying to steady myself, lowering my voice even though the anger was still simmering just under the surface.
"Before the coma, you used to involve me in decisions about my life. Now you make them on your own like I'm still unconscious. But I'm awake now, Mom. Awake and fully aware."
Her eyes darted away, avoiding mine, and that only made it worse. It was like she was hiding something.
