Chapter 151 - 151

Jason didn't bother explaining in detail, only mentioning that he'd recently joined New Vision Media.

Ale

Naturally, Ethan Parker assumed Jason had come on board as one of the company's new streamers.

"Haha, no kidding! What a small world. Guess that makes us colleagues now. We've got to look out for each other," Ethan said with a grin, slinging an arm over Jason's shoulder. "We should do a collab sometime—I'll help you get your name out there. With your looks, dude, you'll blow up overnight. Honestly, I never realized you were this good-looking. With a face like that, why'd you even bother chasing that so-called campus queen back in college?"

He laughed, full of energy.

Seeing a familiar face in a building full of strangers made Ethan relax. He was genuinely a good guy—he thought Jason was just a new hire and, instead of acting superior, immediately wanted to help.

It said a lot about him. After all, Ethan himself was a rising mid-tier streamer with a solid fanbase, and helping Jason—someone who clearly outclassed him in looks—might risk losing some of those fans.

He remembered hearing the old gossip about Jason once chasing after Emma. He'd even tried to give Jason advice back then, but Jason hadn't listened. Of course, Ethan didn't know that was long in the past.

Jason simply smiled and replied, "Sure. Let's look out for each other from now on."

Ethan had no idea how valuable those words would one day prove to be.

Just then, the elevator doors slid open—and out stepped the General Manager of New Vision Media, accompanied by several senior managers.

"General Manager!" the group of well-dressed men and women waiting nearby called out politely. They weren't top-tier streamers yet, so naturally, they treated someone of his status with respect.

But the General Manager barely acknowledged them. The moment he spotted Jason, he rushed out of the elevator and headed straight toward him—only for Jason to subtly raise his hand, signaling him to wait.

Jason didn't like making a scene, and in his eyes, an old classmate with good character like Ethan was far more deserving of his attention than a company executive trying to impress him.

"Come on, let's head up," Ethan said cheerfully, still oblivious. "It's my first time at one of these company-wide events, and I was kinda nervous. But seeing you here actually makes it better."

He kept his arm around Jason's shoulder and nodded casually at the General Manager as they walked past.

The General Manager immediately bowed—deeply.

Ethan paused mid-step, blinking in confusion. Wait… what?

Sure, his own popularity had grown a lot this year—he was even considered mid-tier now—but this was the General Manager. Why would someone at that level bow to him?

Feeling slightly puffed up, Ethan straightened his back and gave Jason a confident look that clearly said, See that? I've got connections here too.

But after bowing, the General Manager quickly hurried ahead of them, pushing through the crowd to hold the elevator doors open with one hand.

A few streamers waiting nearby froze, staring in disbelief.

"Uh… is the General Manager seriously holding the elevator for us?" one whispered.

"General Manager, please—you go first," another said quickly, clearly intimidated.

Of course, the General Manager couldn't just say, I'm holding it for the boss. But years of corporate diplomacy had trained him well.

He smiled and said smoothly, "You're all the company's rising stars. The future depends on you. Don't be modest—please, after you."

Meanwhile, in his mind, he was practically screaming, Move already! You're blocking Mr. Carter!

The few streamers felt flattered, their confidence swelling.

Wow, this company really values us newcomers. The management is so respectful. We definitely made the right choice joining New Vision Media.

They quickly stepped into the elevator, utterly unaware of who the General Manager was actually holding the door for.

Jason and Parker followed behind and entered as well. Only after they stepped in did the General Manager and the others follow.

The elevator was spacious, so even with seven or eight people inside, it didn't feel crowded.Parker greeted a woman wearing heavy makeup among them and then introduced her:"This is Helly Larson. We went to the same high school. We're all alumni here, so let's look out for each other in the future."

Although they attended the same high school, they were in different classes. Parker had probably only gotten to know Helly later on, and their relationship was nothing more than casual.

So when Parker spoke to her, Helly only nodded slightly. As for Jason — someone she'd never heard of, someone who clearly didn't look like anyone with a big following — she didn't even bother to spare him a second glance. Feeling it would be awkward to chat in the elevator, she turned her face away.

Parker looked a bit embarrassed at her reaction and explained in a low voice,"Helly runs a livestream channel. She's got a few big spenders who donate a lot. Even though her overall popularity isn't that high, she earns way more than I do. Maybe she doesn't want to mix with people like us."

"That's normal. I get it," Jason replied, not bothered at all.He couldn't exactly say he didn't want to mix with them either.

Parker laughed. "Man, your mindset's solid. Seems like over the years, not only your looks but your attitude changed too. That's how it should be — confident and calm. You won't have to worry about not finding women."

Parker had plenty to say on that subject. Back in high school, he had a girlfriend, and supposedly he'd had a few more in college — all pretty good relationships. He was never the type to chase anyone; he was laid-back but never short of female attention.

What Parker didn't know was that Jason Carter was no longer the same man he used to be.Now, his problem wasn't not having women — it was managing too many of them.

Parker asked curiously, "By the way, what kind of contract did you sign? I started with a C-level deal and just got bumped to B-level today. Honestly, dude, you clean up good — super sharp. You didn't start at B-level, did you?"

"I signed... I guess it'd be considered Class A?" Jason thought for a moment before answering. After all, what kind of level would someone have if they invested owned 51% of the company?Since he was technically the main stakeholder, it should count as Class A, right?

"Class A?" Parker blinked, then suddenly laughed out loud. "Haha, come on, then you must've signed a special contract."

He thought Jason was embarrassed to admit his contract was low-level and didn't push the matter any further.

They hadn't lowered their voices during this part of the conversation, so the others in the elevator heard it clearly.Helly couldn't help curling her lips in a smirk."If it's low-level, it's low-level. Why make stuff up? 'Class A,' seriously?"

At New Vision Media U.S. Headquarters — or any of its affiliate agencies — there was no such thing as a "Class A" contract.

The elevator reached their floor and stopped. The General Manager pressed and held the open-door button, gesturing politely for them to exit first.

Seeing that, Parker felt a little flustered and humble. He thought maybe the General Manager was just being nice and approachable.

But once he and Jason exited, the General Manager didn't stay behind — instead, he hurried ahead of them, personally leading the way with visible respect.

Parker froze. Was the General Manager really this approachable?Or… was this something else?

The company's main entrance was just a few steps ahead, but the General Manager seemed worried they might not notice. He walked briskly to the door, opened it himself, and held it wide, gesturing for them to enter.

At this point, Parker felt something was seriously off.

A bow could be seen as polite.Helping hold the elevator door could still be considered friendly.

But this level of deference? It was way too much.

He was just a B-level streamer — did he really deserve this kind of treatment?Parker couldn't help but feel uneasy, as if something big was happening that he didn't understand.

And just as they entered the office lobby, several beautiful women quickly jogged over to greet them warmly.
