Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Today was his last day.

"So this is how it ends" The black haired man with red eyes said.

A boy, about to be eighteen in a few minutes, was standing in front of a computer, looking at the screen with an disattached gaze.

"Seems so!" A blond man with blue eyes cheered.

He stared at comments under his novel, his only work, something he cherished a lot and that would end with him today.

"Why are you so happy?" The black haired man asked with false firmness as his hands started to fade into a golden dust "We're about to be erased from existence, there's nothing to be happy about"

The comments were all about the end, about how bittersweet it was, how unsatisfied they were, that things could have been better.

"I'm happy that we managed to end all this" The blond man said, hands also fading into dust "We might die, we might be erased, we might be forgotten, but at least everyone else will be fine, the world is safe, their lives are safe"

He understood their frustrations, but he gave them no mind as the last chapter, a goodbye letter, was posted, because now was the time.

The man only sneered at the stupid optimism of a fool in his last moments, but he himself had his own reliefs because he was right.

He was doomed.

They were safe.

Unknown to anyone, a boy would die in silence.

Unknown to anyone, a world was saved in silence.

After posting the letter, the boy looked down at his sketchbook, and two men were drawn there with care.

After contemplating their soon to be erased existence, the two men looked down to the white nothing, and a familiar panel appeared before them.

His hand brushed against the drawing of a black haired man, he used black clothes that made him look elegant and his eyes were cold, not even a shadow of a smile could be seen in his face.

"What the-" The black haired man was startled by the phenomenon "A System panel!?"

His eyes wandered to the other page, the one with a blond man, he had a warm smile that forced him to open a weak one.

"Why would the System be doing here?" The blond man pondered aloud.

With a sigh, the smile died, and the boy distanced himself from his book, walking in the direction of a chair and a rope.

Both men read the notification and froze in place.

He got up in the chair, bony hands reaching for the rope.

[£@€¢@#¥@ needs you, would you like to save him? Y/N]

He hesitated for a moment, eyes wondering again to his sketchbook for just a second before returning to the rope.

They were both stunned for a moment, surprised by the notification sent to them in their last moments, but that was it, just a moment.

He held the rope in his hands, putting it around his neck.

They looked at each other, a smile forming in their faces.

Today Amadeus Hudson would end his journey.

Today Matthew Benediction and Leonard Kindred would start a new journey.

With final resolution, he kicked the chair as the clock reached midnight.

With final resolution, they pressed Y and their body started to dissolve with a blue light.

He soon began to fall, closing his eyes, ignoring the blue light that appeared in front of him.

They soon found themselves clawing their way out of a white surface into a dark room with only one source of light behind them, but they gave it no mind, only focusing on the giant being falling in front of them, a rope close to hang it up.

They only had time to send an accurate attack in the rope's direction as Matthew cursed.

"Fuck!"

Amadeus was surprised by the new strangely familiar voice, even more so when his fall became too long and he found himself on the ground with a loud thud, groaning in pain.

They looked down from where they stood at the creature, most of its face covered in messy grey hair.

He looked up from where he laid at the direction of the voice, to figures, one blond and one with black hair, were standing in his desk, right on top of his sketchbook.

It looked human, too human, and way too young to be in this situation.

They were small and familiar, too small and familiar.

"Who-" Leonard was about to ask, but was interrupted by the creature, who suddenly contorted the little they could see of its face and curled on itself, groaning in pain.

Amadeus was still trying to process what just happened when pain surged in his head, nonsensical images and information started flooding his head.

Memories of times he didn't know, battles he didn't fight, relationships he didn't have, names that wasn't his.

"Matt!"

The black haired man ignored his name being called, jumping from the table and landed on the being's shoulder, trying to shake it off of whatever was happening.

"Come one big guy!" He yelled, his voice feeling smaller than he knew it was "Get a grip of it! You still have many questions to answer!"

The pain was gone as quick as it came, and he was left with a throbbing head and a sense of disconnection.

Was he Amadeus? Or was he Clair? Or Nick? Or Fred? Was he even human? Or was he a monster? Or an animal? Or even a spirit? He was still a guy? Right?

He was lost in himself and in what he was not, he was he, but was he? Who was he? What was he?

The being stammered nonsense as it tried to steady itself, barely sitting without falling to the side, its head hanging like the head of a zombie as it tried to get up.

"What's happening?" Leonard asked after finally joining Matthew on the being's other shoulder "What is he saying?"

"Wish I knew" Matthew responded while trying to not fall as the being staggered through the place, walking seemingly with a goal "But it can't be good"

He dragged himself to the bathroom, barely making it to the sink before forcing himself to stare at his own reflection on the mirror.

There was a boy with dark skin and long gray hair that covered his eyes and that many would say was white.

He pulled his hair out of the way, looking at his eyes.

His usually grey eyes were now shining with various colors, his pupils sharp like a cat's eyes.

"What happened to me?" Was the first comprehensible thing the being said, its voice surprisingly small for its size "What am I?"

"That's what we want to know" Matthew said, and heavens, he wished he stayed quiet as the being froze, flinching so violently at his voice that Matthew and Leonard felt it and nearly lost their grip on the being clothes.

It looked down on them from the mirror's reflection, horror and surprise shining on its multicolored eyes.

"Matthew… and Leonard?" He thought out loud, mind a confusion of drunken pain and sober madness.

He felt them flinch on his shoulder as he stopped their names, but he didn't really give it much thought, head spinning around the fact that his creations were there.

The characters he had daydreamed day and night, the ones he fantasized with his whole heart and that were the only thing that kept him alive for so long.

Now they were here, on his shoulders, alive and breathing.

His mind was pure chaos when it appeared in front of him.

A blue panel, the System's panel, just like was described to him by others.

[Congratulations on awakening your true self] It said [The System will now organize your status]
