Chapter 9 - Expelled For Rape

"Are you trying to threaten me now, hmm?" Cass asked Damien, glaring. Because seriously what the hell did he mean by face the consequences? Who gave Damien the right to threaten him just because he was some high-rank Alpha, huh?

"You can take it however you want," Damien replied smoothly, his voice calm but sharp like a blade. "I, of course, have the right to threaten you. And I'll make sure I see it through." He merely shrugged, as if Cass's outrage meant nothing.

"This damn bastard," Cass muttered under his breath. But then again… wasn't this a good thing? From the looks of it, Damien didn't seem interested in him. That hurt his pride, sure, but if he wanted a peaceful life, this was the best outcome, the male lead ignoring him was perfect.

Still… couldn't this man be less cocky? More respectful about it? No, of course not.

He didn't press further though. Not with this terrifying man standing before him. He could only comfort himself mentally: Calm down, Cass. This is for the better. If he keeps up this attitude now, it means separation later… once all this rumor crap clears up you'll have nothing to do with him. So endure. For your life's sake.

With a heavy sigh, he forced his gaze up at Damien.

"Alright, I agree. But I'm only doing this because it's my responsibility—kinda. That's the only reason. Not because of any threat of yours."

He braced himself for Damien's rage. But instead, Damien just stared at him.

That stare. That heavy, unreadable look that made Cass feel like he was being peeled apart layer by layer. Was that… interest? Pleasure? Amusement? He couldn't tell. He didn't want to know.

Cass's stomach twisted. He really didn't want any of it.

The silence dragged uncomfortably until Cass awkwardly coughed. That snapped Damien out of it—he exhaled softly, almost like a sigh.

"Good thing you know it's your responsibility," Damien murmured. "Handle it well."

And with those words—before Cass could even blink—Damien was gone.

Cass froze. What the hell!???

"Hold up!?? Powers!? Magic? Demonic skills? Angelic bullshit? What the hell was that!?" Cass scrambled through his head, trying to remember if the book ever mentioned anything like this. But nothing. Not a single damn thing.

He had read this story. Every page, every scene. There was nothing about Damien having supernatural powers. So how the hell did he vanish like that?!

Wow. This man was truly—

Cass let out a shaky breath he hadn't realized he was holding. Now that Damien was gone, the room finally felt less suffocating. His head pounded, though. Everything hurt. But finally, some quiet. Finally, some space to breathe.

He dropped back onto the bed, ready to rest this cursed weak body of his. Just a little more rest. Just until the nurse—or whoever—came to check on him, maybe even discharge him.

But of course peace was never for him.

The door burst open again.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck…" Cass groaned. Couldn't he catch a break? Since when did barging into patients' hospital rooms become normal around here?!

Two figures stepped in. One, a boy his age probably a student. The other, an older man.

"Cass Von, right?" the older one asked.

Cass nodded cautiously.

"The Dean asked you to meet him in his office. Now."

Cass sighed deeply. Just like Rin had warned him. Trouble had found him again. And this was the last thing he wanted. But it seemed he had no choice.

With a stiff nod, he climbed out of bed, steadied his breathing, and followed them.

The Dean's office was spacious, neat, and suffocatingly formal. A man sat behind the desk, immersed in paperwork. He didn't look up until the escorts announced him.

"Dean, we've brought him."

The Dean raised his head.

Cass froze. What the hell—

This wasn't the typical gray-haired, wrinkled academy Dean he had expected. No. This man looked young. Handsome, even. His posture screamed authority, his presence sharp, and Cass could instantly tell from his build—an Alpha.

"You can leave," the Dean said. His tone was calm but commanding.

The two escorts exited, leaving only Cass and the Dean.

The Dean regarded him quietly for a moment, then cleared his throat. "You're Cass, right? You were hospitalized. How are you doing?"

"I'm fine," Cass muttered. Though, really? Fine? They had literally dragged him here like a criminal, and now this man was asking if he was fine? What kind of joke was this?

"Good. Because the people you harmed are still currently hospitalized," the Dean said flatly.

Cass blinked. "…People??"

"Yes. So far, about two or three."

Cass's jaw clenched. Those bastards… They really had planned this. Ganged up. Schemed against him. He only touched Kai—one! Just Kai! And that was self-defense! What the hell was this "three people" nonsense!?

"I didn't beat up three people! Look at me!" He gestured to himself angrily. "Does this pathetic physique of mine even look like it can kill a fly!?"

"That I can't say," the Dean replied, stern and unflinching. "But what I do know is this—there was a complaint filed against you. Attempted rape. Assaulting three of your fellow students. Both are against the rules. And you know what that means, right?"

"I really don't."

"It means you'll be expelled from this academy."

Cass's temper spiked. "Expelled for what exactly?! Rape or this so-called beating? Because in case you didn't know I was ambushed too! Beaten bloody. Hospitalized for days. What did you do about that, huh!?"

The Dean's eyes sharpened. "First of all watch your tone. Secondly, was it reported? No. We only handle reported cases. Anything else has nothing to do with me."

Cass shut his eyes, dragging in a slow breath. Anger wouldn't help. He calmed himself before speaking again.

"But I didn't rape anyone. I'm serious. They tried to rape me. I didn't even touch anyone except Karl and that was self-defense."

"They have two witnesses."

"And those two witnesses… are from the same group, right?" Cass asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Yes. But that doesn't change anything. Unless…" The Dean leaned forward. "Unless you have someone to stand for you. Back you up. Do you?"

Cass muttered under his breath, "I don't."

The Dean leaned back in his chair, as if the matter was already settled. "Then there's nothing more I can do. Without a witness, your plea holds no weight."

Cass's chest tightened. His throat felt dry. So what now?

"So what now?" he asked anyway, his voice low. He didn't know a single soul in this damn world. Outside this academy.... How was he supposed to survive in this damn novel world without the academy?

"You'll be expelled, of course," the Dean said, final and cold. "The only exception—the only exception—is if you have someone strong enough to back you. A witness with power. Which you don't—"

But his words cut off abruptly.

Because the door opened.

And a figure walked in. Calm. Proud. Dominating the room without even trying.

"I'll back him up, then."
