Background
Annabeth's family has been high-ranking upper-class people since the 1600s. Her ancestors were natively from Great Britain, and they had moved here after the British colonization of America. They have stayed here since then and have continued to accumulate tremendous wealth unlike any other. Her family owns multiple businesses and has more than thousands of branches around the world. During the Great Wars, her family had funded nearly ten billion dollars to help aid in the war and were thus a tremendous help during the time. Her mother was a very well-known and prominent figurehead and also funded the majority of the needs in America.
Childhood
Annabeth grew up as every normal child did. She had loving parents and a nice house. The only thing that distanced Annabeth from everyone else was her lineage. Being known as a Harker brought about tremendous expectations and views. Everyone expected her to surpass her mother's achievements and continue the Harker legacy. However, all Annabeth wanted was to have a normal life and have friends who didn't see her as a superior being. She wanted to enjoy the everyday nuances of life. As a result, she would always misbehave and ignore her mother's decisions, becoming a rebellious child at an early age. But her mother loved her a lot and let it be.
Her father, who was a war general, had died in 1945 on the last few days of the war, three years before Annabeth was born. Growing up without a father, Annabeth always had this pain that she could never explain. Whenever she saw one of her friends run and embrace their father, she felt sadness. She wanted the same thing everyone else had. During her school days, she didn't stand out as a genius. Her knowledge was average, as well as her learning abilities. Being from such a privileged family, of course, brought about a lot of disgust and gossip. People began to really question whether or not she could truly live up the Harker family.
When Annabeth turned eight, she had suffered a terrible injury. As she was playing with one of her friends, she fell down a hill and collided with a rock at the bottom, causing the back of her head to split open. She was rushed to the hospital, but there was very little chance of her survival. Her mother, who did everything in her power, used the majority of her wealth to save her life. It took a gruelling two months for Annabeth to wake up and fully recover. Many people criticized her mother for this as Annabeth had not shown any amazing display of her genetics and thought that she should have been disposed of so that she didn't tarnish her lineage. But no one could honestly say that in front of her mother, fearing the consequence.
Early Teens
During her time in middle school, Annabeth found a particular attraction towards social sciences. Especially sociology. She discovered this amusing subject during one of the talks that took place in her school. A famed sociologist came and talked about the subject. Not many people attended, but because Annabeth always had this desire for knowledge, she attended every single talk on that day. Whilst the lecturer was speaking about it, Annabeth felt this excitement quell up in her.
She always wanted to be a kind person who helped others in need, and this subject was just for her. It was as if she was being called for it. After asking multiple questions in the area, she started her journey in hopes of becoming a sociologist herself. Her mother supported her as she could see the passion in her eyes. She would become the first sociologist in the Harker family ever. Thus, she started to learn increasingly. The people, society, how we behaved, why we behaved like this. It engulfed her. The amazing mysteries behind human interactions, the way they function to build a structured society, the mindset of certain individuals around people. She could not stop learning. And the more she learned, the more she fell in love with it. She loved people, and she knew that this subject was made for her.
Around the time she was twelve, her mother remarried, and the father already had a child beforehand. Many people had objected to this notion, and many also saw him as an outcast. Annabeth, however, saw him as her brother, and she cared for him very deeply. As he grew, Annabeth and her mother both realised that he was a genius, and many people started to reshape their thoughts and pointed back their gossips onto Annabeth.
Late Teens
During high school, Annabeth continued her passion for sociology, excelling much further than anyone else in her class. During high school, she began to distance herself from her friends. She knew that everyone around her didn't really care about her but her status. Being close with someone wealthy and popular was always beneficial. However, she didn't blame her. She knew that humans acted like this. All we ever care about is the benefits we receive for doing a particular act. When helping a friend, we expect something in return. When helping a homeless person, we expect a praise or a thank you. Our lives run on benefits. And Annabeth knew that very well. She continued to focus solely on sociology, and thanks to her mother's approval, she was sent over to London for university. After her degree, she started her career in sociology.
Early 20s
Annabeth rose to fame very quickly as her experiments and theories became incredibly famous and prominent. People saw her as an inspiration, and she gained an exceptionally large following from it. After a while, she even started her own business in sociology and had her own staff, laboratory, and scientists. Everything was going great for her. Until she turned twenty-three.
Her mother and stepfather both died in a car accident, and the news went viral. Many people visited her house, giving their condolences and wishes. This blow was extremely hard on Annabeth and her little brother. However, Annabeth knew that she didn't have time to focus on the dead and instead buried herself in her work. She also kept her brother remarkably close and provided him with everything he needed. Following her mother's footsteps, she sent him over to London to study mathematics at university. Over time, Annabeth continued to accumulate fame and wealth, and many people saw her as an inspiration. She also was a huge advocate in women rights and peace protests. Thanks to her status, many people supported her and pushed for change.
Further Information
Annabeth does not enjoy art as she has never been good at it. Things that she was not good at she hated. When her brother was sick, Annabeth stayed by his side for two whole days, aiding him in everything he needed. Her favourite food is tacos, and she isn't a big fan of pizza. She used to have a pet fish that died very young but has an earring in memory of her pet fish.
After observing Annabeth for a while, it has become clear to me that she possesses' remarkable levels of analysis that I have never seen before. Being able to analyse the smallest of details and using them to bring about accurate and remarkable conclusions is astonishing, to say the least. The more she learns, the harder it becomes for things to remain hidden. She discovered the fake clock much faster than I had anticipated, and it seems that I must remain much more vigilant in my works so that she does not catch on to anything else. Unlike Jolynn, who was very gifted from an early age, Annabeth ahs had to work hard for her skills.
However, they both share some similarities. Both have experienced loneliness and belittlement. For Jolynn, it was much more personal, however. Thus, she has been more impacted and influenced by such past experiences. Annabeth has a much stronger will when it comes to other people's opinions. She doesn't care much about her own image and much prefers to focus on those around her. Jolynn is obsessed with her own image. As she used to be fat, she had always been troubled and belittled, which makes it reasonable that she would be much more self-conscious. Another thing is that Annabeth does not mind being alone. After her mother's death, she had been living her life consumed in work whilst she sent her brother overseas. Due to this, prolonged exposure in solitary confinement has not been a problem for Annabeth. Such strong will and toughness is something that makes my experiments all the more exciting.
On another note, Annabeth has a high level of empathy for towards people. Granted, her expertise in sociology plays a part in that, but on a humane level, she values other people before herself. Even in the face of danger, all she can do is think of others. This level of selflessness is something the world has lost, but it is also the big reason for her downfall. Being focused so much on other people's well-being and safety as made her more reckless and naïve. Lending out a helping hand doesn't always mean the person who holds it won't stab you after you pick them up. Nevertheless, she continues to help and learn more about people, making her judge others well. Her kindness is something that she gives away freely, never expecting anything back. Sociology has helped her to understand the world and its inhabitants on a much deeper scale, far deeper than I do. Maybe that is why she is much kinder than I ever could be.
As of now, Annabeth still has not woken up from her sleep. Her dream sequence was much more straining mentally, and so the toll on her body was too much for her to bear. Even though she completed and escaped, I am highly sure that she will continue to experience the aftereffects in the future. But I can conclude that she has willpower unlike any other. The desire to escape and be free is so powerful that it would make us lay down our lives just to achieve it. Humans truly are remarkable creatures. They can never remain shackled for long, and when they realise that they are slaves, they rebel and retaliate, causing havoc along the way. Annabeth has shown that perfectly. She has gone to the point that even after dying countless times, she still yearns freedom.
Hopefully, I have somehow planted that fear of confinement into her brain, and now we shall see how the results turn out. As well as her mental trauma, she also has physical trauma placed onto her as well, which makes it much harder to experiment on her outside of the dreams. However, I have enough time to prolong such experiments for now. Something that I must focus on, which I did for Jolynn, is to manipulate her in some way that she begins to obey my orders.
For Jolynn, that was the fear of loneliness. For Annabeth, it is most likely going to be the fear of losing love. Annabeth has grown quite the attachment to me and has started to express much more romantic feelings. The problem is in how I can convert that into some sort of manipulation. Love is a tricky emotion. It can change at any second, and the amount can drop or increase by the day. It can either make us someone's strongest ally or greatest enemy.
As Socrates has said, "One word frees us of all the weight and pain in life. That word is love." I must become that love for her. However, I fear that if I continue to play with such an emotion, I myself will spiral down into it as well, and I do not think I will be able to escape its clutches. I fear love, for I know that it will blind me from my purpose. I am here to bring science closer to answer, not play around with meaningless emotions that only last for a select time. If society gives up on this false idea, then I believe we shall excel much better and transcend what it means to be human. Annabeth is a dangerous wildcard. In experimenting on her, I started to experiment on myself. Her actions, her behaviours, and her demeanour are making me feel much more attracted towards her. Perhaps it is most likely my animalistic instincts taking over. In that case, I may be more lenient to succumb to such things, but I have no intentions of mating. I have devoted my life to science, and I shall continue to do so till the day I die. It seems as if Annabeth is starting to awake.
Before I leave, I must talk about my next beloved subject for a bit. Harold has been much more different from the other two. Jolynn cares for herself, and Annabeth cares for everyone. Harold only cares about his family and those closest. A family man is much harder to control for when his family is in danger, he becomes a beast unlike any other. I have plans that I can put him through that are in motion. And...a surprise like any other. I must destroy his will to the point that he is nothing but a mindless shell living in life without a soul. I can feel myself becoming more eager for the results. I must go now and sit beside Annabeth. Until next time.
Hail Science.
