Chapter 1 - Epilogue

This isn't your usual epilogue.

I'm not trying to set up the story.

This is just a glimpse of how it all ends.

There were screams outside the throne room—loud, painful, and full of terror. The kind that made your skin crawl. But the man inside? He just sat there, completely relaxed, almost like he was enjoying the chaos. A small smile played on his lips as he listened. He didn't move, didn't flinch—he was just waiting.

It was like he knew whoever was behind that door was coming for him.

What made it worse—disturbing even—was that he didn't seem scared. Not even a little. He didn't panic. He didn't try to run or hide. In fact, he leaned back a little more, as if to get comfortable.

Every scream, every crash, every splatter of blood outside the doors—it didn't bother him. If anything, he seemed amused. He moved his head to the rhythm of it all, like someone enjoying a familiar song. Eyes closed, calm as ever.

Eventually, the noise stopped. Just like that. Dead silence. Then came a knock.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"You may enter," the man said, his voice deep and calm—too calm.

The giant doors creaked open slowly. No one appeared right away. Just empty space.

He adjusted himself in his seat—not out of discomfort, but to get a better look. Maybe—just maybe—he was a little uneasy now. But he wouldn't admit it. Not even to himself.

Then someone stepped in.

Or rather… something.

His eyes widened. For the first time, his smile faltered. This wasn't who he expected. Not at all. In fact, this was the last person he ever thought he'd see walk through those doors.

"You?" he said, sitting upright now. "What are you doing here, boy?"

No answer.

The figure lifted his head, and the moment their eyes met, he gave a small smile.

"I'm here to kill you," he said. Calm. Cold. Certain.

The man tensed, leaning forward slightly.

"So you're the one I've been hearing whispers about…" he muttered. "Very well then."

And just like that, the boy moved.

He charged.
